About this listing

The space

Hello lovers, my name is Kalae and Im renting out a bed in my living room! I live in a 2 bedroom apt in Manhattan Valley with a view of St.John the Divine Property. Just 3 blocks from the 1 and B/C lines, less than 5min walks to Morningside Park, Central Park and Riverside Park, 24hour drug store, grocery store and deli's, plenty of bars for night time fun, american apparel, every bank that has a branch, organic deli, grocery and dry cleaners, 10min walk to whole foods.. hmm Im sure Im missing some things. My neighborhood is amahhzing. Im across the street from St. John the Divine and a 5 min walk from Columbia University. Tom's Restaurant from Seinfield is less than 5mins away.. Ok back to the APT. There is free breakfast! (But you gotta make it yourself)WiFi! A bathroom! Ok, I guess there should be a bathroom. There is a mural wall, an upright electronic piano and an acoustic guitar. Does that sweeten the deal? Come hang with me and other another airbnber! I have two listings. Be sure to check out my private room listing!

Guest access

Guests have access to the kitchen, bathroom and living room area which are all shared spaces so everyones encouraged to clean up after themselves.

Interaction with guests

I interact with guests as they come in and out of the apartment. I also try to create a comfortable space in the living room for fun conversations with all the airbnbers.

Other things to note

Theres a laundry mat on the street level of my building. It costs money but is conveniently located. I have two airbnb listings. I have a busy schedule and I'm not always around for high maintenance guests.

House Rules
Check in is anytime after 12PM (noon)

There aren't a million rules but I would appreciate a neat person that will respect and honor the space. You can burn candles, incense, sage, but please dont fill the house with toxic aromatics. Im also looking for someone who is a heavy sleeper because the bed is in the living space and though, there will be mutual respect in the area, its still "public" domain in the house. Also I recently informed that no animals are "allowed" in the building; meanwhile I have a cat, so I guess the rule is, no MORE animals. Sorry :(

Kalae s place is truly comfortable , not matter the bed or the couch. Her place is full of interesting items and decorations. Therefore, i never feel bored to find a target to lay my eye on. Her cat gato is crazily cute and really like ppl. In all, wonderful experience in new York, will come back again. Yuanqi

Kalae is super nice and laid back. I personally felt bad because my plane was delayed and I had to take a later flight so I had her waiting for nothing.. but she was easy to contact and super cool about it.

Kalae' place was a great spot close to the main tourist attractions. There are many subway and bus stations just in few min walking distance. She was very cool and a fun person:)

I enjoyed my stay. Kalae was a good host, and Gato the cat was good company. Even though the bedroom was in the living room, it was still pretty quiet at night, and I managed to sleep well. The location was also ideal. Close to Columbia, where I had an information session, and near many attractions.

So what can I say.. everything was perfect, in accordance with the description. Although being a common room, I was mostly alone in it and had it to myself. There is a divider which you can put in front of your bed to have more privacy if needed. Kalae is a very nice person, she will help if needed (glass of water when I arrived, extra blanket when I was cold) but at the same time she gave me my space so I could do my own thing, which I valued a lot. The cat will probably sleep in the same, common room, but it's very well-behaved and won't jump on your bed at night or anything like that :) Overall - I'm happy to recommend this place, very good value for money.

Im a professional model. I have my own line of herbal products and a few albums under my belt. I love meeting new people, traveling/touring and performing. I look forward to opening up my home to nomad's such as myself.

5things I cant live without.
Well first of all, its not an issue what you cant take with you.
BUT, I cant live with out LOVE, MUSIC, SEAFOOD, RESPECT and BREATH.

My style of AirBnB hosting is laid back, friendly and chatty when the situation arises. I would be helpful in recommendations for places to visit/see/experience especially if you're an artist and can benefit from my expertise!

My favorite place I've ever traveled is.. wow this is really hard-every place has been so special. I traveled to Peru in 2012 and have stamps on my passport from 5 continents! MY favorite book iiissss, The Alchemist. Easy read. Deep, philosophical, heart felt, beautifully written. My favorite movie.. ehh I can maybe give you a rough draft of a top five--lets start with Pulp Fiction.. Kill Bill.. Really anything Quentin Tarinto makes.. The Matrix.. Young Frankenstein and ScarFace. That was off the top of my head. I also really love old Black&White films. My favorite TV shows include but are not limited to SeinField, Sex and The City, Family Guy and Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Im a sitcom girl. Music; I love everything but some of my fave's are Jimi Hendrix, Erykah Badu, Nikka Costa, Esthero and The Roots. That was the REAL short fave's list. Last but not least, food. Anything from the SEA works for me ;).

My life motto is hakunamattata. :D Its a problem free philosophy :)
