THIS APARTMENT

A pristine, fully equipped, white kitchen, including dishwasher and microwave, is central to the apartment and leads into the modern, open plan living / dining area with glass sliding doors that open onto the balcony overlooking Ormond Road.

For your viewing and entertainment pleasure, the lounge boasts a 50 inch flat-screen TV with Foxtel (cable TV), blue ray and stereo.

The front bedroom has built-in robes with a king size bed, which can be split into two singles if required.

The elegant, main bathroom includes a full-length vanity with large mirrors, shower over bath, toilet and a concealed European style laundry with washing machine and dryer.

The master bedroom has built in robes, a comfortable queen size bed and your own, elegantly styled, private ensuite with large mirrors, vanity, shower and toilet.

LOCALITY

Elwood, with a population of 13,785, is an inner city Melbourne suburb 8 km south of the Melbourne CDB. Elwood borders St Kilda on the North and Brighton on the Sought.

Elwood is considered by many to be Melbourne’s most picturesque suburb.

Elwood Beach is a popular bayside beach destination during summer where the beaches are used recreationally for windsurfing, cycling, touch football, cricket and walking.

Elwood was originally swampland, however, installation of the Elwood Canal turned it into a habitable area.

Prior to colonisation, Aboriginal Australians cooked shellfish and signalled other clans from Point Ormond in Elwood. .

Originally a working middle class suburb in the early part of the 20th century, Elwood has overseen waves of gentrification and is now one of Melbourne's most sought after bayside addresses.

In the late 1970s, like nearby St Kilda, Elwood was known for its nightlife and developed a reputation as a cabaret area.

Many of these venues operated out of some of the suburb's quirkier old buildings.

As the scene saw a demise in the early 1980s, many including Maison de Luxe and Moulin Rouge (which operated out of the 1880s mansion "Pladda" built for Captain A. Currie) were subsequently demolished.

As late as 1989 locals could be seen riding surfboards and canoes in Elwood streets when the canal burst its banks yet again.

Despite its history of adversity, a modern suburb now thrives by the bay in one of Melbourne’s most prized locations.

Café life in the Elwood village seems a long way from the flood, fire and fever of earlier days.

Coloured lorikeets flock to the green corridors of shady trees, a native forest has been planted on the foreshore and the once despised canal area is undergoing rejuvenation as a haven for walkers and cyclists

  • This apartment was wonderful. It not only had everything I needed for my week long stay in Melbourne but was perfect from a location standpoint as it was central to my office and close by to a host of great restaurants, bars and the beach where I caught some wonderful sunsets and early morning runs. There's also a fantastic cafe and eat out Indian place just below. One word though...it is centrally located so it is not extremely quiet as it's right on busy the Barkley/Irwell corner with the tram, traffic and people. Pay special attention also to whether you've got parking with your unit if you need it. I found the best off unit parking to be the flat lot beside Coles but don't forget to refresh every 12 hours to avoid the fines.

  • Lovely apartment in the vibrant Darlinghurst area of Sydney. Central location, close to transport hubs like Kings Cross, and you can catch a bus straight to Bondi Beach up the road on Oxford Street. A short walk to the main business/shopping district and also close to the various clubs and pubs of Crown Street.

    Nicely kitted out with coffee machine, pots and pans, comfy sofas for early morning chilling, wi-fi - all you need, really.

    Nicki was a very helpful and amenable host, who was always a phone call away.

    All in all, a terrific place to stay in Sydney.

  • Within walking distance to the best beach bars and all the eateries in St Kilda! Loved the accessibility and ease of connection to city when not driving, tram stop is just 3mins away, and you are in city centre within 20mins.

  • Excellent location. Clean and tidy. As apartment is facing west, hot anoon sun makes apartment very hot. No flyscreens means Air Con must be on all night. A darker blind in lounge would be good. If balcony was shaded would make whole apartment cooler, especially 2nd Bedroom... A few small things would add an extra star to this accommodation.

  • Very clean, organised and well resourced apartment. We walked to Southbank everyday along the river from the apartment! Very impressed, would def stay there again :)

  • Run more corporately than most places I've stayed through airbnb, not a problem, but did make it more of a serviced apartment.

    Place was clean and in a great location if you're wanting to stay around St Kilda.

  • Great, clean and stylish apartment with plenty of room. Great central location.

    Would happily stay at any Espresso apartment in the future, was very well run and very professional with great contact which made for a great work visit to Brisbane.

    Make sure you take your own wi-fi device is the only thing to watch for if you need to work etc. Otherwise, just enjoy!
