About this listing
This is a small, sweet room with a mattress in a 3 bedroom apartment in a lovely neighborhood in Brooklyn. There is some noise from the BQE so it is not the best for light sleepers. It is a 7 minute walk to the F train.
1 bedroom in a 3 bedroom apartment in the heart of Carroll Gardens, full of light, gorgeous hardwood floors, huge living room and a lovely little kitchen. You'll be sharing the apartment with me (an actress and entrepreneur) and another guest.
Your room is sweet and simple, with one small closet. The room itself is 10x7 ft. The Apartment itself is approximately 750 square feet.
I am looking for an awesome and respectful person or couple who will treat our apartment tender loving care.
We have a large bathroom, a huge living room flooded with sunlight and great kitchen with everything you need to cook your own meals.
Interaction with Guests
I love to meet new people and give tips on the neighborhood. Everyone in the 4 story building is awesome. The first floor neighbors hold meditation on Sundays and throw great parties in their enormous loft to which all are welcome. (don't worry, noise is never a problem) The living room is huge with hardwood floors and lots of sunlight. You don't need to bring a thing and will have access to our large living room, all our kitchenware and books.
Steps away from the best pizza in the country at Lucali's, mouth-watering cinnamon rolls, and dozens of other trendy restaurants and coffee shops.
7 minutes from the F and G train Carroll street stop and a 15 minute ride to the lower East Side in Manhattan, 2 stops to J Street metro tech with ACE,FBD,456 trains (that's practically the whole alphabet!
Other Things to Note
Even there are some pictures of cats, there are no actual animals in the apartment. Downsides: There is no intercom, so you have to go downstairs to let friends in. The bedroom is furnished with one very comfortable memory foam mattress, but no bed. The room is next to the BQE, so there is some noise from the highway. Sometime it can get kind of hot in the apt from the radiator, but not in this bedroom which tends to be a little cooler as it has no radiator. I do have a space heater though - which toasts it up quite nicely:)
Please do not smoke in the house, be kind to other guests and clean up after yourself- especially your dishes, please! You will be sharing the apartment with me and my roommates, so you may NOT store your things in the living room, which is the common area. Please use headphones if you are listening to music or watching a movie so as not ti distract others. The walls are paper thin! Otherwise, we are easy-going. Enjoy the neighborhood and have a fun time! Make your own meals in our beautiful kitchen:)
Manisha is a great host. She welcomed us with cold drinks and told us about nice places in New York and Brooklyn. She made coffee in the morning for us and even helped me with medicine when I had a sore throat.
The living room and kitchen are nice. The bathroom is ok. Our room was small but clean and totally ok for a city trip and the price.
The neighborhood is great! A lot of families, shops, restaurants, a park and it's quiet and safe.
I can definetly recommend Manisha's place for a trip to New York!
Me and my friends Andreas and Kristian had a great stay at Manishas place! She invited us with fresh guacamole and nice company right when we arrived, so we felt very welcome from the start. Manisha is a wonderful and warmhearted person. At the same time as being very friendly and easy to socialize with, she also gave us a lot of privacy which we appreciated a lot, especially because we stayed as long as 12 days. Furthermore she gladly helped us with advice for good restaurants and other help we needed for our stay.
The neighborhood was one of the most laid back and calm areas we visited during our stay in NYC so we really enjoyed coming home after a long day around in the more busy areas like west village on manhattan. At the same time nearby Court St and Smith St is full of nice restaurants, bars and stores.
The only thing that was slightly disturbing for us, especially due to the length of our stay, was that the room was a bit too small for three people. But this thing Manisha warned us for before we confirmed the booking so it's nothing to complain about, but it might be good to know. Anyway, we really enjoyed our stay at Manishas place, and we gladly recommend it!
Although Manisha was away during my stay, she was a great host! She responded very quickly when I had questions and when there were some minor problems she took care of it right away. Her house has a cozy feel so I felt home from the moment I arrived. And the location is perfect too; near a lot of restaurants, bars and shops on Court and Smith st. Thanks for a wonderful stay Manisha!
Manisha is an exceptionally warm host. She has a very sweet personality, and was welcoming from the first moment. She was more than happy to help with anything we needed from day to day. Her place is quaint, the kitchen is well stocked, and it's an easy ride to the financial district. A big win and a great first AirBnB experience!
Sam and I contacted Manisha after another Airbnb accomodation we had booked was cancelled at the last minute. Manisha immediately put our minds at ease and made us feel very welcome.
She is a very friendly, smart, insightful and thoughtful host who provided us with everything we needed and more in fact; as she even bought us a delicious locally made pie! Mmmmm:-)...Manisha gave us space but also checked in with us to see how we were. The perfect host really.
The apartment is really nice and in a great area close to subway and many interesting shops and good restaurants. The three flights of stairs were good as walking up them stopped us from getting too fat from all the good food:-)
Manisha came through for us, letting us book with her on the day of our stay!
The room was bright and airy. The whole apartment feels quaint, spacious and charming. Clean, homey, wifi always worked great, and a very capable and communicative host - what more could we want? Not to mention the location - beautiful streets to wander, little shops and bakeries to discover.
We had daily meetings in the Financial District, and just walked from here over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan and back. What a great walk! We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
I lived with Manisha for over half a year and couldn’t be happier with my choice. She is such a wonderful host and just a genuinely kind, generous and trustworthy person. The appartment is clean and has a great charm - you can even see the empire state building from the shower! The room itself has a comfy mattress and even a desk, so it’s suited for shorter and longer stays.
As for Carroll Gardens, this is definitely one of the best neighborhoods in New York - it was one of the highlights of my time there and one of the things I miss most. It’s close to city and has everything you need incl. restaurants, grocery stores and bars just a few steps away, yet it’s still quiet, safe and peaceful. I loved it.
I recommend this place wholeheartedly and will definitely come back the next time I’m in New York.

About the Host, Manisha
I'm currently building CottageClass, a sharing economy marketplace for children's learning experiences, bringing together my love of Airbnb and children. I'm also an actress and entrepreneur with a love of everything French. I lived in Paris for 3 years before moving to New York six years ago. I love Russian literature and get rich quick books. On a typical day you can catch me running in Prospect Park, throwing a French soirée in midtown or enjoying Maple Lattés at Gorilla coffee. A friend once encouraged her students to practice "radical hospitality." I think that meeting people from other cultures is one of the most wonderful ways to expand your mind and learn about yourself. I treasure my international friendships and am looking forward to meeting more fellow globetrotters through Air B&B!
