The second bedroom in my apartment is great for couples or a single person traveling to New York or working short term in the Navy Yards or Sterling Studios. My neighborhood is home to the Brooklyn Flee and Farmers Market and some great coffee houses.
This is a bright 1 BD apartment in a elevator building with central air +++PLUS, great kitchen/living room area with big screen smart TV with fios/WiFi, balcony, full size bathroom, washer dryer IN THE UNIT, roof top access, A Garden Terrace on the Second Floor, video/buzzer intercom, 5 blocks from the subway and located 3 blocks from beautiful Fort Greene Park. CITIBIKES right outside my door, which is a great way to get around and see brooklyn and the city.
The Private room has lots of light, a nice size dresser, mirror,nightstand, access to closet and Full size bed. I will provide clean sheets and towels. There will be full access to the kitchen and washer and dryer. Though I am near the Highway the sound is pretty constant and reminds me of the ocean or white noise. I always provide ear plugs and eye mask incase you are a light sleeper.
Fort Greene is a wonderful neighborhood not far from some of the greatest attractions in Brooklyn. BAM, Pratt, Barclay center, Brooklyn Flee, Dumbo, Fort Greene Park are within a 20 min. walking distance. It has a huge variety of top notch restaurants and is a very safe and diverse neighborhood. 24 Grocery store is a block away. There is the Building 92 museum which has the history of the Navy Yards and amazing brownstone architecture and mansions from the turn of century over on Clinton St. Fort Greene is a wonderful neighborhood to walk around and enjoy.

Interaction with Guests
My interaction varies since I am freelance hairstylist. It will depend on my week how much I will be home or how much I will be out working. My boyfriend also lives with me and will help out with the hosting duties when I am not around. He speaks fluent Spanish and can help translate for my foreign guest.

Clinton/Washington G train is about 5 blocks away
Bus lines within 3 blocks are B54 B62 B57 B69 that can take you to any train to get into the city.
(getting around brooklyn is best by Bus or Bike)
Atlantic Avenue – Barclays Center 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N , R and Q
Jay St.-Metro Tech F, A, C and R subway stops are a 15 walk away or a short bus ride. Everything was perfect! After a 30 over hours flight, we were happy about the nice and comfy room. Keys, town maps, wifi password was all well prepared by Monet. Location is easily accessible by bus and MTA. Right across the street, you can find some eateries, grocery shops, convenient stores, etc. I would stay here next time I am visiting New York.
No problems with the room. The highway noise didn't bother me. Very convenient to a citibike station.
Monet was really helpful and accommodating.
We had a good experience staying at Monet's apartment. She replied quickly to all emails. She was very flexible with check in and check out times. When we checked in She wasnt home, but her boyfriend let us in and gave us all the info we needed. We left at 6am and she still called the car service for us. The apartment and room was exactly how the pictures shows. Monet gave us the privacy my husband and I like. I had never rented an apartment with the host staying in it too, but I can say it was a successful experience. The only detail it's worth mentioning, specially of you don't know how big the blocks in NY are, the apartment is not super close to any subway. It is probably a 15 min walk to the closest subway. We managed to walk fine the first few days, but in last couple of days we used more cabs to get to and from the subway. That's another option: take a cab to and from the subway. I definately recommend this apartment!
The apartment is well- located in Brooklyn, near shops and bus. The room is nice but a bit noisy with the road, but we slept well.
- Nice location;
- Safe area;
- Comfortable room/bed;
- Monet was very helpful, providing us with info. on attactions/transportation etc. She was also very accommodating with arrival and departure times, which we greatly appreciated;
- Had access to washer/dryer for our clothes.
- Apartment was generally very cluttered and untidy;
- Bed sheets and towels were not changed for the duration of our 10-day trip (fresh sheets would have been welcomed after day 5);
- Monet's flatmate was extremely rude (obviously we weren't staying as friends, but his lack of politeness/ social skills made the stay feel awkward - it almost felt like he went out of his way to be unfriendly).
Extra note: At night, we were exhausted from the days walking and slept well, but for any light sleepers the busy highway (just meters from the bedroom window) may be of concern.
I had a wonderful time staying at Monet's place. Monet was very accommodating even with her busy schedule and I felt like it was a home away from home. The area was quite convenient with metro lines and shopping areas quite close to her home. It was quite easy to get around Brooklyn and go into Manhattan from her place. The neighborhood is quite pleasant and never had any issues at all. The only unfortunate part is the noise of the nearby highway. You can really feel it in the room during certain parts of the day, but I had no trouble falling asleep.
The place has lots of perks (laundry, great AC, etc) that make its an excellent place to stay.

I am a freelance hairstylist based in New York. I am originally from CA and have lived in the area of Fort Greene for the past 5 years. I love this diverse quaint neighborhood. Feel free to ask questions on places to go or things to do. I love exploring the city and can give lots of tips. My boyfriend recently moved in and will also be sharing the apartment with us, but most of your interaction will be with me as I manage the airbnb guest.
