Available all year, from £150 - 360 p/w
Sleeps 2 -4 (2 adults + 2 children)
A bright little studio apartment consisting of hall, living-room (with double sofa-bed) separate kitchenette, shower-room and small bunk-room, this is not an upmarket villa, but is ideal for an affordable stay in this very special place. Clean, comfortable and equipped with the essentials, what it lacks in luxury it more than makes up for in charm and convenient location in a quiet residence only 2 minutes' walk from one of the town's five beaches, and from shops and restaurants. We're up on the third floor (sorry - no lift!) with a small balcony facing seaward (lovely view of the old windmill and Dominican monastery - now winery) and although you really don't need a car here, if you arrive in one, we have that rare commodity, our own parking space!
Bus stop - 2 mins (all journeys €1), rail station - 10 mins walk. Bike & scooter hire just round the corner.
Collioure is a magic place, a favourite holiday destination where the Pyrenees spill down into the Mediterranean under the bluest skies in France. Nestling around its natural bay, and instantly recognisable by its landmark bell-tower, it was an ancient fishing port. Dominated by the 14th century royal chateau, it is now an atmospheric blend of narrow cobbled lanes, red roof-tiles and bougainvillea, bustling markets, boutiques and artists' studios, with a trail of 'Fauvist' art on the spots where they were painted by two of the town's more famous resident aficionados Matisse and Derain. (also a few by Rennie Mackintosh who lived in next-door Port Vendres) Life here is outdoors, and very friendly. Any excuse for a celebration, from local weddings to impromptu traditional dancing (the Sardane) in the square. Festivals and events are frequent all summer, and unlike the nearby beach resorts, the town stays alive out of season (New Year celebrations are legendary) We can recommend websites for general information including weather, what's on, bus timetables and panoramic live webcams.
Plenty of activities are available for all ages - sports, diving, boat trips, vineyard tours, cultural and historical sightseeing - too many to list - ask for recommendations! You can walk for miles in the hills behind the town or go further afield and explore medieval villages, monasteries perched high in the mountains, incredible Cathar castles, Perpignan, or even Barcelona (2 hours away) Excellent eating out, of course, and cafes with wifi/internet access, small supermarkets and twice-weekly market.
Minimum stay is ONE WEEK in July and August, and over Christmas/New Year.
3 NIGHTS at other times.
Weekly or monthly rates available all year.
Linen (bedsheets and personal towels) is NOT INCLUDED but can be provided on request at 12€ per person.
Unfortunately I am unable to provide breakfast - sorry!
This was a great place for us, reasonably priced and convenient. We had some disagreements about what "clean" is, but not a problem in the long run. I love Collioure and recommend this place.
Très agréable appartement. Très proche mer, à proximité de tout. Le parking est un atout certain. Le prix est très abordable. L espace est restreint mais pour un couple pour une semaine, largement suffisant. En somme une excellente semaine de vacances!
Nesta made it easy to visit a wonderful place in the world - with a lovely place to stay whilst there. The apartment is all that Nesta described and we hope to visit again. Thanks Nesta.
We spent a wonderful week at the flat. It was much bigger than expected there being a small room with bunk beds. The sofa bed was really comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped and the 2 sets of large windows onto the balcony made flat very light.and not overlooked at all.
There was a parking spot below the windows but don't think a car is necessary unless touring inland. The 1e bus travels from Perpignan to Spain and stops 2 mins from house. It,s a 2 min walk to the beach and all the local facilities. A perfect spot really!
The village is just beautiful and there are plenty of local walks.both along the coast and up into the hills behind the flat.
Thank you Nesta for sharing your little bit of heaven
Another lovely stay in Nesta's apartment. It was an ideal base for us and we were as comfortable as before. The location is great - quiet yet central, within easy reach of the beautiful countryside.
A delightful, light apartment with a great view from the balcony around Collioure. Everything you need for a great stay.
Lovely little flat, quietly located yet just minutes from the beach and the old town, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. We will heartily recommend it to friends and family. Many thanks to Nesta for letting us stay there. We greatly enjoyed walking in the hills above Collioure, a visit to Port-Vendre on market-day (Saturday), and the lovely Sunday market in Collioure itself.
Nesta's apartment was perfect for just me while I was traveling alone. I could imagine possibly having another person there but I couldn't imagine any more than that. Unless the children were very small, or didn't mind close quarters. It was relatively clean and in a good location. I felt safe in Collioure but the apartment building was a bit abandoned and very dark at night. I think I was the only person in the entire building which made things very quiet but also a bit eerie! Other than that, over all, a pretty good experience.
Nice and clean, 2 minutes from the beach. All works well.
Sleeping sofa is a bit narrow, but ok if you are not going to spend a month there :)
Nesta and Eve were very helpful.
Our week in Nesta's little apartment at beautiful Collioure was fantastic. So central that we did not need to use the car, which was just great.
