It is a safe friendly neighborhood with most amenities in walkable distance. Lots of restaurants and cafes and shops. The area is most suitable for researchers as we are near the universities and also the medical centers where many of our guests do research and internships.
The accommodation is for registered guests only. We also expect to be alerted if and when a friend visits as we do not allow strangers on to the property. As most of our guests are here on work related projects we also ask guests to keep noise levels low and at reasonable hours. We do not permit smoking in the apartment and we expect our guests to respect the property and keep it clean and tidy. Our property is not suitable for children.
Carol and Keith were wonderful hosts, and did everything they could to make our stay perfect! The location is excellent, and the space is just the right size and very nice! We can only hope we make it back there one day soon!
The cottage is roomy, cool and quiet. Carol and Clyde were throrough and gracious. This extended beyond thier immediate presence in that a bowl of fruit and some muffins awaited me on the counter inside the room. I also took the advice from a previous customer and had them arrange for a car to pick me up at the airport. I highly recommend this, especially if it is your first time in Durban. The immediate neighborhood features some nice dining and drinking experiences that are within walking distance. (A place called Unity serves deep fried olives… not to be missed!) Be sure to browse through the guest booklet provided by the hosts as it contains a bounty of information.
Carol and her husband were great hosts. They were there when we arrived and immediately showed us around the cottage, which is fully equiped and very cozy. The address was easy to find and ideally situated near great restaurants and beaches. I strongly recommend staying at this cottage. Staying there was enjoyable and a positive experience.
Friendly, neat, cosy, beautifull garden, safe, quiet & central. Will definitely keep Carol in mind for my next visit to Durban.
Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted and made to feel at home quite immediately. Carol and Keith were very friendly and showed a keen interest in getting to know us. They were very helpful and were always keen to answer any question that we may have had.
The Studio Cottage was impeccable and very homely. We quite liked the style and the way in which the different decorative aspects of the place blended into each other. The classical and modern art paintings on the wall provided a chic yet homely atmosphere which was further enhanced by the books on the shelves available for the guest to read. The cottage was well furnished and the hosts can be commended for having anticipated for any eventualities that may have slipped the traveler’s mind (as it so often happens) - from bathroom accessories to kitchen utensils.
The fact that the place is situated in very close proximity to a shopping centre and restaurants, it allows one to take a pleasurable 10 min walk to the shops. In general, it has been a pleasure to stay at Carol & Keith’s place and there is no doubt that it has been ticked on our list of future places to spend our holidays again.
Carol and her husband welcomed us very warm and friendly, even for our big car they found a place. The small appartment in the garden was very clean and nice. We got very good tips for visiting Durban meanwhile our 4 days stay. That area of Durban is very quiet and nice.
Carol and Keith are very kind and helpful hosts! I enjoyed staying at their apartment in a quiet and safe area in Durban.

About the Host, Carol
I am an art curator working in South Africa and internationally. My husband Keith and I enjoy hosting people and therefore find airbnb a great occupation. We have a house which is over a hundred years old which we have modernized over the years. The self catering apartments are all in our tropical garden and guests enjoy the peace and calm whilst being close to the city. We have always and still travel extensively with Paris being a favorite destination. We also collect art which enhances our environment.
