Waikiki/UH Manoa- 10 minutes/ 2-3miles
Airport- 20 min / $35 cab or 9S bus
N. Shore/Haleiwa- 45 min via car
There is only street parking and a car would be handy for those who aren't into taking TheBus (goggle it to see the routes) although we've had plenty of guests who've relied on the bus without complaint. There are several convenience stores & little takeout places on the block & a grocery store & tons of restaurants 1 mile down.
The room is furnished with a queen size bed/bedding/towel, couch, closet and a desk. We ask that you provide your own toiletries. Because we have only one bathroom we prefer to host only one person at a time but if it's a short time (3 nights or less) it may be possible for 2 people to stay with extra $20 fee/night.
Feel free to use the kitchen and accoutrement but please provide your own food stuffs. We've done a fair amount of outdoor adventuring and can give you some tips if you wish.
Any other questions just ask!

The Bus stops within a block of our house and is fine for getting to just about everywhere except the Diamond Head end of Waikiki. A cab to that end is $10-15 or a 45 minute walk.

We will ask if you need to use the restroom before we shower, if you're present, please do the same for us, (we have small bladders). Generally if at all possible, try to avoid the restroom from 6:30a-7:30a when we're getting ready for work
Great location within walking distance to buses into Waikiki, transit centers and pearl harbor. Location is a little hard to find as at the back unit at the end of a lane. Room was clean and comfortable. Appreciated the hosts help in rearranging reservation last minute. Friendly but respective of privacy and space. House rules/expectations clearly set out. Great value. I would definitely be happy to stay here again. Perfect for the traveler on a budget
I couldn't be happier!! Great people and a great location! Thanks for an amazing stay!
I stayed at Melissa and Cyndi's place for a week, they were great, laid-back hosts! I pride myself on being relatively low-maintenance but this was a really accommodating AirBnB.
Firstly, their place is in a quiet area with close proximity to Diamond Head, Ala Moana and Waikiki beach; while staying here I walked to most locations I was looking to visit locally and used the bus to get to other spots, such as the beautiful North Shore (I went there 3 times, it's a bit of a ride but if you leave early enough, you can spend a good chunk of the day there and still be back at a reasonable time). The bus stop at Waialae and Palolo Ave is a pretty good starting point to catch a bus to a transfer location or to your destination, I highly recommend using the Google maps app, as I did, to easily navigate public transportation. They had great local Thai, Vietnamese and Veggie restaurants if that's your thing. Or if Acai Bowls are your thing, you MUST go to Da Cove Health Bar on Monsarrat Ave; I took a yoga class across the street, had an Acai bowl and then watched the sunset over the water right down the street at Kuhio beach park. From there, it was a nice walk home. If you're up for walking, you'll notice that there's tons to do and many beautiful spots within good walking distance of their place.
But back to the home... They have a tour and hiking book in the room if you're looking for ideas, Melissa provided a bath and beach towel, wifi information, room for storage in the kitchen and fridge and a clean comfortable private room for you to stay in. Like I said, they're really laid-back so I immediately felt at home and comfortable "living" there. If you're looking for a safe, comfortable place to stay, I highly recommend Melissa and Cyndi's home... Oh, and as previously mentioned, their pup is super friendly and really well-behaved :)
Pleasant stay! Hosts and I were both busy and did not cross paths much, but they were friendly and helpful. Close to Kaimuki business district and H1.
Melissa was really laid back and helpful. She made us feel like we could make ourselves at home. The neighborhood was nice and quiet. I really liked the view from the yard.
Melissa and Cyndi were great hosts - very friendly and accommodating! They even cleaned out a space for me in the fridge (which I didn't end up needing). It was nice having my own bedroom with more than enough space to put all my stuff. Also, it was great having extra towels, especially beach towels for doing some beach time or after diving. The neighborhood is in the valley and very safe and quiet, so it's nice to get away from the hustle & bustle of Waikiki.
This was in a very interesting residential neighborhood. I appreciated the quiet. I felt very safe in the house. The bed was very comfortable.
Cyndi and I are both in our 30's and have lived in Oahu for about 3 1/2 years now; I'm an occupational therapist and she's an art student. We moved here from LA with our daughter dog, Madeline Beans Baylor, to have the opportunity for year round outdoor adventures. We like to surf, hike, snorkel, scuba, bike... anything outdoors. We also do a little island hopping & camping when we can. Maddi comes with us almost everywhere & is a very well behaved but energetic pup. We're available to answer questions you have about cool things to do while you're here but generally let our guests have their privacy and prefer independent people since we have pretty busy schedules.
We hope you enjoy your time in Oahu and feel comfortable in our very humble abode in the (typically) peaceful Palolo Valley!
