About This Listing
This 1924 bungalow-style house is super convenient to Lake Washington and Mt. Baker Beach, as well as the light rail station to downtown (15 min.) and the airport (26 min.). Plus, the neighborhood is great for walking, eating and shopping.
The house has wi-fi and ample free street parking. The room has wood flooring, a large closet, a double bed and desk, and a view of a green and serene garden backyard, which you are welcome to use. The bathroom is shared among house residents, which include mom, occasional young adult daughter, another guest and 2 cats (cats have separate facilities) Winston will stop by to check you out and will sleep with you if you keep your door ajar.
This cozy house has bright rooms, oriental carpets, and warm colors and furnishings combined with welcoming atmosphere in a great neighborhood. If you have time, be sure to walk to the lake and along the park that will take you 3 miles to Seward park, the home of a 120-acre old growth forest!
I compost and recycle, so please ask about that if you are cooking and eating in the house.
If two people prefer not to sleep in the same bed, I'm happy to set up a mattress on the floor for an additional $5/night.
I like to travel inexpensively myself, so I try to offer an affordable, but very nice place to stay in an expensive city.
Are there more than 2 people traveling together? Check out Cute Bungalow #2 in the same house.
* Third guest - $15 / night.
* One time cleaning fee of $5.
Guests can use any of the shared living space and backyard. Feel free to use the fridge to store your food and the kitchen to cook, as long as you clean up after yourself.
Interaction with Guests
Guests can expect welcoming host, interesting conversation, and advice for getting around Seattle. Actually, chatting with guests is my favorite part about hosting. But if you want privacy, that's fine, too.
Mt. Baker is an old neighborhood with 100-year old houses and great architecture. You can easily walk to a grocery store (QFC), a drugstore (Rite Aid), hardware store (Lowes), restaurants (Italian, French, Ethiopian, Thai, American), parks, and Lake Washington.
Light rail to downtown and the airport is a walk away. Four bus lines within walking distance can take you downtown (7, 14), across town (8,), and to the University District (48). There is information in the room about various sights and neighborhoods to check out, as well as maps and bus schedules.
* No smoking inside.
* No street shoes in carpeted rooms
* No loud music
* Wipe down bathtub after use
Place was as described. Host was very pleasant, helpful. One other couple was also staying in another room. Overall very good experience.
Kristin was a great host, she made us feel very much at home and her cat Winston was a pleasure to be with. Her house is spaceous and a great location to eat nearby and to get downtown with ease. We got a really good overview of Seattle while we were there and she was really helpful in recommending where to go.
The room was cozy and private, and Kristen was a very accommodating host. Great place to sleep for a few nights.
Kristin is friendly, organised and thoughtful. Superb host. The house is lovely, and the location is great! We were very close to public transport, major roads and food options. The area itself is beautiful; we were gawping at some of the houses and gardens as we took a stroll in the evening sun, and the proximity to Lake Washington means that you absolutely must pay it a visit. Overall, a most pleasant experience that we would happily repeat.
The room is the same as the description and the bed is very comfortable!

About the Host, Kristin
I'm from the East Coast but have been in Seattle for many years. I love to travel, but since I'm not traveling these days, I enjoy meeting people who are! I have hosted international students since 1992. Being in the NW, I like to get out to the mountains and islands on foot, wheels, skis or kayak. In town, I do (New England) contra dancing and will happily drag you along if you are interested.
