This 1924 bungalow-style house is super convenient to Lake Washington and Mt. Baker Beach, as well as the light rail station to downtown (15 ) and the airport (26 minutes). Plus, the neighborhood is great for walking, eating and shopping.
The house has wi-fi and ample free street parking. The room has wood flooring, a large closet, a double bed and desk, and a view of a green and serene garden backyard, which you are welcome to use. The bathroom is shared among house residents, which include mom, occasional young adult daughter, international student and 2 cats (cats have separate facilities) Winston will stop by to check you out and will sleep with you if you keep your door ajar.
This cozy house has bright rooms, oriental carpets, and warm colors and furnishings combined with welcoming atmosphere in a great neighborhood. If you have time, be sure to walk to the lake and along the park that will take you 3 miles to Seward park, the home of a 120-acre old growth forest!
I compost and recycle, so please ask about that if you are cooking and eating in the house.
If two people prefer not to sleep in the same bed, I'm happy to set up a mattress on the floor for an additional $5/night.
I like to travel inexpensively myself, so I try to offer an affordable, but very nice place to stay in an expensive city.
Are there more than 2 people traveling together? Check out Cute Bungalow #2 in the same house.
* Third guest - $15 / night.
* One time cleaning fee of $5.
Guests can use any of the shared living space and backyard. Feel free to use the fridge to store your food and the kitchen to cook, as long as you clean up after yourself.
Interaction with Guests
Guests can expect welcoming host, interesting conversation, and advice for getting around Seattle. Actually, chatting with guests is my favorite part about hosting. But if you want privacy, that's fine, too.
Mt. Baker is an old neighborhood with 100-year old houses and great architecture. You can easily walk to a grocery store (QFC), a drugstore (Rite Aid), hardware store (Lowes), restaurants (Italian, French, Ethiopian, Thai, American), parks, and Lake Washington.
Light rail to downtown and the airport is a walk away. Four bus lines within walking distance can take you downtown (7, 14), across town (8,), and to the University District (48). There is information in the room about various sights and neighborhoods to check out, as well as maps and bus schedules.
* No smoking inside.
* No street shoes in carpeted rooms
* No loud music
* Wipe down bathtub after use
Kristin's appartment is a really lovely place. In addition to that, Krisitin is very kind, helpful and straightforward.
I enjoyed my stay in Seattle and would always chose this appartment again.
Kristen was super welcoming from the first email exchanges - quick to respond, friendly, and communicative. She was flexible with my arrival time, and a laid back and friendly host - open to engaging for conversation in the kitchen and I also had plenty of privacy in the simple, clean, and comfortable bedroom. A great stay.
Kristin was very prompt to reply to communications and quick to answer my questions. It was nice to be located close to the Light Rail as well as close to Lake Washington, which has a good walking path going around it. The location wasn't as nice as I thought it would be (in terms of the neighborhood).
The room itself wasn't as clean as I had expected it to be-- dust in the corners and some spider webs on the ceiling. In hosting people regularly, it would be helpful to clean the room thoroughly in between guests; as well as for guests who are paying to stay there. There is also a mold problem in the bathroom, which Kristin had instructions for helping dry out the bathroom, but if people have allergies, this is probably not the best place to stay.
Kristin was friendly in the several interactions we had. Thanks for your patience in answering all my questions prior to my arrival.
We could only stay one night in kristin's house but we really enjoyed it!
Kristin is a wonderful woman, it's really pleasant to talk with her and she made us very comfortable in her home.
Her cute house is perfectly located next to a train station, great to get quickly to the airport or downtown seattle.
It's a shame we couldn't stay more with her for longer chats!
we will definitely come back to her house if getting to seattle again!
My boyfriend and I felt very welcomed in Kristin's home. She was very kind and offered to pick us up at the light rail stop in the rain. The description of her listing was accurate. Public transportation was a short walking distance, which made it easy for us to get around the city. Kristin provided us with a key and a list of activities that we can experience in Seattle, such as the beautiful walk to Lake Washington and the unique Chihuly Garden and Glass museum, which we enjoyed. It was nice returning to her place after a day of activities to be greeted by her adorable cat, Winston. Another couple was also staying in another room at Kristin's house during our time there, but we did not have a chance to meet them. Given that there may be multiple travelers in the house, it may be difficult to coordinate when to use the bathroom. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Kristin's house and thank you for hosting us!
Very beautiful home ! Kristin is such a lovely person, we were very lucky to be so fortunate with the warmth and location of the place. It's Absolutely perfect! Kristin helped us with directions, offered us a lift down to the light rail as we had heavy bags and even showed us a technique on how to cook the beautiful salmon we got from the markets. Thank you so much. Would recommend to anyone and stay there again for certain if we come back to Seattle !!

I'm from the East Coast but have been in Seattle for many years. I love to travel, but since I'm not traveling these days, I enjoy meeting people who are! I have hosted international students since 1992. Being in the NW, I like to get out to the mountains and islands on foot, wheels, skis or kayak. In town, I do (New England) contra dancing and will happily drag you along if you are interested.
