Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Private! Dog-Friendly. Steps off historic St. Charles Ave/Streetcar line! Garden District 2bd home w/fully fenced yard AND gated driveway, both of which are yours alone. Laundry room with W/D. Restaurants, bars & markets begin a block away. The perfect New Orleans retreat: close to everything, yet private and peaceful at home.

The space
One short block off St. Charles Avenue and the Streetcar in the Garden District, this funky, 125-year-old home is private, comfy, and centrally located. You will have your own gated driveway, and fully fenced yard.

Inside, rooms include the living room, kitchen, laundry room, bath, one downstairs bedroom, and a large loft bedroom upstairs. Please note that there is no dining room. Outside, there is a full-sized dining/patio table.

You will never share space with anyone. There are only two units on property, yours and mine, and we have separate indoor and outdoor spaces.

NOTE for legal reasons, you MUST make the reservation for the total number of people spending the night, regardless of whether they are traveling with you or meeting you here.

Please message host regarding dogs you wish to bring. Please read the House Rules for details on dog policies. Please do not bring a puppy to the house. We are not able to accommodate cats.

THE BEDROOMS:

1-4 guests will have access to (1st floor) comfortable and private downstairs bedroom with queen bed, and (2nd floor) large upstairs loft bedroom with queen bed and a full daybed. The queens have comfortable pillowtop mattresses, and the daybed is a very supportive memory foam, a great place for cozying up to read a book.

OTHER FEATURES:

The house has central heat and chilly, central A/C, plus an extra window unit in the loft for individualized comfort upstairs.

There is a small, full kitchen stocked with essentials and a laundry room with W/D, detergent, dryer sheets, and an iron with full ironing board.

Please note that the house is NOT a newly renovated space, and it retains the quirks and character of time. However, it is clean and comfortable, and has everything needed for a comfortable stay.

Outside, a gated walkway opens onto a private yard, which is exclusively yours. There is a wrought iron table with chairs, gliding bench, umbrella, and charcoal grill. It's a very private space invisible from the street, and a great place to have your morning coffee, plan your day, or wind down with some wine at the end of the night.

Due to the historic age of the home, the property does not qualify as ADA accessible. It is necessary to climb stairs to enter the property, and the doorways are not of sufficient width for wheelchair access. The bath is a traditional, step-in basin tub and shower.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES - PLEASE NOTE: The EV charger available is listed as LEVEL 1, which means a STANDARD HOUSEHOLD OUTLET. This is located next to the driveway, and guests are welcome to charge here, with no cost. There is an official charging station about 6 blocks away at a park in a beautiful area, and there is a Tesla destination charger shortly beyond that.

*****NOTE FOR MARDI GRAS: DO NOT INSTANT BOOK. YOU MUST SEND A CALENDAR INQUIRY TO THE HOST TO DISCUSS MINIMUM STAY AND OTHER FACTORS -- THANK YOU! *******

*******JAZZFEST/HALLOWEEN / VOODOO/ CITY PARK / MUSEUM: There is a bus on the corner that provides virtually door-to-door service to the Fairgrounds & City Park. This is how your host prefers to get there. The Streetcar can take you very close as well. The streetcar OR the bus can take you to the Quarter in minutes as well. ********

Guest access
There are two units total, yours and mine. The entire property is gated and locked. Enter through a semi-shared, front patio (with your own separate gate, driveway, etc), then down your private walkway to your door and your private yard. Dogs are welcome, just send me a message about them when booking. 2 maximum. Large dogs welcome (with approval).

-Full laundry room with supplies
-Kitchen with fridge, stove, coffee pot, microwave, toaster, pots & pans, utensils etc and starter essentials (coffee, spices, etc)
-Bathroom with hair dryer, shampoo/soap/etc
-Connections include TWO separate Wifi services, TV with Roku (no cable)
-Outdoors include private large yard with furniture that is for your exclusive use during your stay.

Due to the historic age of the home, the property does not qualify as ADA accessible. It is necessary to climb stairs to enter the property, and the doorways are not of sufficient width for wheelchair access. The bath is a traditional, step-in basin tub and shower.

-WHEN BOOKING/MAKING TRAVEL PLANS: Please note your check-in time of 3pm / checkout of 11am. While we try to accommodate early arrivals or late checkouts when possible, it often is NOT possible due to other reservations and the schedule for sanitization. If you would like to ensure a morning arrival, or an afternoon/evening departure, consider reserving the day before/after your stay so that there is not a conflict with another reservation. Depending on the demand and time of year, it may be possible to reserve an extra half-day for half the cost - please inquire. Thank you for understanding!

Other things to note
Note you MUST message the host first to inquire about all Mardi Gras reservations, which include the last 2 weeks before Fat Tuesday (varying each year between late January-early March). Minimum stays apply.

Your host believes life should be filled with fun and rewarding experiences. I welcome contact from you and am happy to help whenever and wherever possible to make your stay a good one.

Note that two dogs live in the front half of the house. The house is old; you may hear them bark once in a while. They do not have access to you or your areas of the property.

Neighborhood highlights

The house is a block off the Mardi Gras Parade Route in a world-famous historic neighborhood. Restaurants, bars and a market begin a little over a block away. As a residential space adjacent to downtown, it's the best place to experience life as a traditional resident of the Crescent City.

The Garden District is safe to walk in and is full of people on foot. The house also has the benefit of 24/7 patrols by Garden District Security (Airbnb states the house is in Central City, but it is in fact the Garden District).

While you're removed from the tourist-saturated French Quarter, it is still just a quick 1.5mi trip down the street, and you can get there by foot, streetcar, taxi, carriage, etc.

You can walk out to tour the historic homes of the Garden District, Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, Commander's Palace, restaurants, bars and shops on St. Charles and Magazine Street, the theatre, shops, museums, restaurants and brewpub on Oretha Castle Haley, and even down to the Superdome, WWII & Ogden Museums, the Central Business District (0.8 mi) and French Quarter (1.5 mi).

In the opposite direction, take the street car a short couple of miles to Tulane and Loyola's campuses across from Audubon Park and the Zoo, and explore the Riverbend neighborhoods. Quaint shops/ restaurants/bars on Magazine stretch from your house to this direction as well.
