Some info has been automatically translated.
Our 180 sq meter home + 35 sqm terrace in SO36 has 2 bathrooms/showers, 3 double bedrooms (one of which is a nursery but can have a bed instead) & 3 terraces. Extremely central yet very quiet. Bright and sunny, it is 2 minutes from Berlin's best market, close to public transport (U1/U8/Bus), nightlife, East Side gallery, the river & more. We live in a family building and we like our neighbors so please, no parties. Great neighborhood for foodies! Please, only AirBnBers with at least 1 review.

The space
Our home is in the center of the famous Kreuzberg 36. We have lovely large terraces facing both south and north (with a view of the TV tower) where you can enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine. If you aren't out in the city, you should really be hanging out on a terrace. There is also Markthalle IX within a minute away, which has the best market in Berlin, home to a fantastic bakery and Street Food Thursdays.

This is our home, so if you need something, we probably have it. The apartment features many windows, hard wood floors and wide, open spaces with lots of natural light. There are three bedrooms for larger groups, featuring two beds and one air mattress (all double), and the sofa pulls out to accommodate up to two more people in the living room.

There is also the option of a nursery, which features a crib and a changing table, should you desire. Otherwise, this room can be used as a separate bedroom with an air mattress.

Our terraces are filled with plants, from flowers to vegetables to herbs and lettuce. We have a grill if you fancy grilling outside (you can buy award winning sausage across the street at Markthalle IX from "The Sausage Man" or meat from Kumpel & Keule for a really easy grill party), and there is also lounges chairs and swings on the terrace and a hammock.

We can accommodate up to four couples, or 8 people. Up to six people can sleep in our three bedrooms, plus another 2 in the living room. The apartment is very quiet. There are 2 separate bathrooms, each with a shower. We have a nice open kitchen and large dining room table (and a dishwasher). We provide coffee (mokka and an electric coffee grinder) and teas, and there is a lovely baker just across the street. If you don't want to cook anything, there are also multiple cafés and restaurants right in the neighborhood.

There is an elevator and then 1/2 flight of stairs to walk up in order to access the apartment.

Neighborhood highlights

Kreuzberg is the best neighborhood in berlin. It has amazing food, fun bars, and is so central that you can walk over into Friedrichshain or Neukölln within ten to fifteen minutes. People come from all over to visit Markthalle Neun, for fresh local produce, great food and especially for "Street Food Thursday", but for you, it will be just across the street.
There are also many, many parks nearby, and we will leave instructions for a day of walking around Berlin from Alexanderplatz to East Side Gallery, including where to eat along the way, which we do with all visiting guests.

My work: Research Assistant in the Neurology of Language; Docent
Speaks English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish
I'm Tally and I am an American polyglot living in Berlin working in academia and doing a PhD in neurolinguistics. I work in a research lab using brain imaging techniques to study the neurology of language processing and comprehension, and I teach BA students in German Studies about linguistics. Apart from languages, I love cooking (baking bread has been my latest obsession), traveling (especially if it is transcontinental), reading (I even have my own book club! though I secretly mostly read sci-fi), good music (from Arcade Fire to Led Zeppelin), robots (thank you, Assimov) and nice people. I've been in Berlin since 2008, and I've lived in Prenzlauer Berg, Friedrichshain, and Neukölln before settling in Kreuzberg in 2014. If you let me stay in your home, I promise to handle it with care, and if you stay in mine, please do the same! My partner is from France (Brittany) and works in IT. He really loves German beer (especially beer from northern Bavaria), cooking and eating delicious food, Terry Pratchett, reggae music, and traveling with his awesome wife. We have three children who tag along with us on all our adventures and are growing up to be expert travelers themselves.
