About this listing
Family run B&B in the countryside, 20 min from Siena, 3 snug rooms and 2 apartments, ideal also on winter to the nearby thermal baths, with panoramic swimming pool and private car park. Good food, good wine and relax
Our 3 rooms, for two or three guests, furnished in the Tuscan style, with rustic flooring and chestnut beams, are cosy and quiet, and have an ensuite bathroom (with shower, hairdryer and courtesy), minibar, electric kettle, colour TV with SAT decoder (DVB-S), bed and bath linen, table, and mosquito net at the windows.
The rooms are cool and welcoming in the summer (the temperature never rises above 24°C -75°F, notwithstanding the lack of air conditioning), guaranteeing optimal and “natural” thermal comfort thanks to the careful refurbishing and warm in winter (with customisable heat setting in the rooms thanks to electronic sensors and solenoids).
Driving on the “Autostrada del sole” (A1) toll road, coming from the west or south, exit at the "Val di Chiana – Bettolle" gateway and follow the SP 326 provincial road in the direction of Siena (it is a 4-lane road). After about 16 km, take the "Asciano" exit in direction of Asciano. Drive through Asciano and then take the SP 438 provincial road (called Lauretana) in the direction of Siena. Cross the bridge on the Ombrone River and, after 4 km, on the right, you will find the “Le logge di sopra” estate (indicated by a road sign placed 350 m from the estate, and by a brown sign with “Le logge di sopra” written in white placed on the left, close to the B&B).
If you come from north (driving on A1, take the gateway "Firenze-Impruneta"), so also from the north, therefore also from Florence or from Siena, exit the A1 toll road at the "Firenze-Certosa" gateway and take the Firenze-Siena highway. At the end of the highway (Siena by-pass included, never exiting so as to avoid a more complicated route) the road forks: to the left towards Grosseto and to the right towards Arezzo/Roma. Bear right towards Arezzo/Roma. After about 5 km (and two short tunnels) you will find another fork: to the left towards Siena and to the right towards Arezzo/Roma. Keep right and you will end up on the SP 73 provincial road (Siena-Bettolle highway); after only 1,5 km, turn right in direction of Asciano. Drive through Taverne d’Arbia and Arbia and keep on towards Asciano for 15 km (it is a beautiful road, where many films and spots are shot). About 50 m after the indication of km 13 of the SP 438 provincial road (Lauretana), on the left, there is Le logge di sopra (indicated by a road sign placed 500 m from the estate, and by a brown sign with “Le logge di sopra” written in white placed on the right, close to the B&B). At this point, all you have to is ring the bell at the gate... Your journey is over and we will be there to meet you!
It stands 275 m a.s.l. and 5 km from Asciano, a small town of Etruscan-Roman origin with interesting sites and a wonderful, recently opened museum with Etruscan finds and sacred art objects of the 13th century, and an Etruscan tumulus tomb. It stands 5 km from the "Site transitoire" di Jean-Paul Philippe, in Leonina.
Siena, a city famous all over the world for its Palio (raced every year on July 2nd and August 16th) and its wonderful medieval palazzos (like the Town Hall in the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, the majestic 13th century Cathedral, the Picture Gallery, the Museo dell’Opera Metropolitana, the Santa Maria della Scala) is only 17 km away.
San Gimignano, a real jewel of medieval architecture and art, is 65 km away. We are 110 km from Florence, 35 km from Montalcino (renowned for its Brunello wine), 37 km from Pienza (inside the Orcia natural park, very interesting for its Renaissance architecture, but also known for its local products, in particular its pecorino cheese), and 130 km from Pisa.
Other beautiful places near us include Montepulciano (where the vino Nobile di Montepulciano is produced; sites to visit are the Duomo and the church of San Biagio), Monteriggioni, Cortona, Assisi, Volterra. Some beautiful abbeys are open to visitors: Monte Oliveto Maggiore (13 km away), a suggestive abbey of the 1400’s with a beautiful Romanesque-Gothic church, a cloister with frescos by Sodoma and Signorelli, narrating the life of Saint Benedict, whore motto "ora et labora" guides the life of Benedictine monks), Sant’ Antimo and San Galgano (famous fr the sword in the rock).
There are also thermal baths, always open, even in winter (in Rapolano Terme, only 15 km away). Other thermal baths in the vicinity are Bagno Vignoni and Bagni di Petriolo. Those who love skiing can reach the slopes of Mount Amiata (1,800 m a.s.l.), where enjoyment is guaranteed!
These are just some of the places that can be reached in less that one hour…
