Bright and nice 3 bedrooms apartment in the hearth of Firenze.
Bright, nice, very well located apartment: twenty seconds walk to the Ponte Vecchio (the Old Bridge), 200 meters to the piazza Pitti (Pitti square), 300 meters to the Uffizi museum, 400 to the Duomo, ten minutes walk from the station.
The front door of the building is located under a little and living gallery, with shops, a restaurant, bars, that goes from the via Guicciardini to the close via Barbadori.
This is a brief and pedestrian street, where the three bedrooms look over, so the apartment is at steps to the crowed Ponte Vecchio, but quiet and silent.
Third floor of a building of 5, with the elevator, it has a cosy Entrance.
On the left you have a bright Dining/Living room, with separate Kitchenette, a sofa and its little Balcony.
On the right of the entrance there is the Double Bedroom, with 2 single beds and its little balcony. Proceeding on the right you pass a corridor with five doors.
One is the matrimonial Bedroom with a Queen size bed and a baby crib, with a big window.
Almost in front there is the main Bathroom, windowed, with a wide shower and bidet.
The next glass door is the one of a nice, little, sunny Balcony, with awnings, some plants and a little table with two chairs. It looks over a wide interior court.
The fourth, yellow door is the little, second Bathroom, wich is windowed, without shower.
Finally, in front to the Balcony, the fifty yellow door is the one of the third single Bedroom, with a single bed and its little Balcony, that look over via Barbadori.
In total there are five beds.
Four little balconyes.
Ten green plants.
Central (website hidden).
Internet Adsl wifi.
Iron, iron board.
Tens of books.
The gallery, under wich the front door of the building is located, lodges an high rated restaurant, a bar, a winery, a couple of tipical shops.
The gallery is quite lively during the day, especially on summer time; on night time instead, from about 11pm to 8am, the gallery is closed by two big iron gates, and you need to know a secret code to open the gate and go in. That's for the safety of the building and of its inhabitants.
The Ponte Vecchio area and the apartment are in the city's pedestrian area.
It is possible to arrive by car to the apartment, but in this case, to avoid the previous fine, you have necessarily to park, for at least an hour, in a garage that costs 3 Euros/hour and 25-31 Euros/day, depending on the car's size.
In the center there are many such garages, one of wich belongs to the same building, so it is very comfortable, stayng in the apartment.
In any case, please remember that the center of Firenze is small, that you'll be stayng in a flat wich is close to everythink and that you won't need the car to visit the city.
All the persons stayng in the building have to care about closing the doors of the lift, after the use.
During the night (from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.) two big gates close the gallery, under wich the front door of the building is located. Anyone coming back home during the night, have to close the gate once he's got in, please avoiding to slam it.
To open the gate night time, you have to digit a secret number in a keyboard close to the gate.
Sandra was super accomodating and helpful! Even though we arrived at 2 in the morning with no Internet or cell phones, we were able to find the flat easily due to her clear instructions. She also provided us with instructions on how and where to park for free, and prepared guides and brochures on Florence for us! The apartment was clean and spacious, filled with fascinating decorations. There was also coffee, tea, hot chocolate and a cake waiting for us when we arrived :) Sandra even let us check out a little later because we arrived so late the night before!
I would definitely stay here again if I ever find myself in Firenze again. Highly recommended!
Sandra was such a sweet woman. She was waiting by our taxi to help up upstairs when we arrived with a smile. The apartment was in the most PERFECT location. The building was very authentic and the apartment made me feel at home. Would 100% recommend. Thanks Sandra!
Sandra was good host who was kindly and clean. But inside house was really cold..... Nevertheless the house location was lovely!!! Cuz in front of veccio bridge!
Sandra's apartment was the third airbnb apartment stay on our five week European trip. Our family consisted Mum, Dad and two girls aged 10 and 14. All three apartments were in older buildings (Europe!), and were excellently located in their respective cities.
The difference between Sandra's apartment and the others being that the other two apartments had renovated kitchens and bathrooms. I mention this because our family came to understand that this was an important because our plan was that the apartment stays would be home away from home situations, particularly for the kids.
A chance to home cook, wash clothes and selves and reset for the rigours of travel. Also good for the fun of trying to be a local at the markets! Our apartment stays were either five or four nights, Sandra's being four.
Sandra's apartment is fantastically located and large enough for a family to find space after small hotels, however, the heating was only just adequate and we were lucky that it was mild for January. There really needs to be a couple of extra portable oil heaters if the central system cannot be improved.
Noting this in the photos now, but not taking in the meaning earlier, the lack of proper curtains makes for an airy and light apartment during the day but means during the night, bedrooms are not dark and combined with street noise it becomes hard to sleep. Proper curtains would also help retain heat!
Steet noise is a factor on Friday and Saturday nights with live music very audible and 2am and beyond on the Saturday. The balcony door/window of the third bedroom was held shut/"locked" with a cord wrapped between the door handle and a chair. I did not mention this to my daughter!
A strong chemical cleaner was used on the bathroom and the chlorine type smell was a bit much for the kids. When the smell wore off it was replaced by a dank and damp smell that seemed to slowly pervade the apartment. I could not quite tell if the smell also came up the kitchen sink. The shower recess leaked water when used adding to the dampness, though obviously we put a towel down. The smell from the bathroom/plumbing was pervasive enough that we noted it was in our clothes and these needed a wash in Rome to remove the smell.
Some of the kitchen utensils need replacing/updating particularly the kettle. The kettle really got me as I am a tea drinker. It showed signs of rust and the inside had a build up of water sediment all the way up to the spout. The sediment inside had cracked away in parts and was floating in the water! The stove/oven and washing machine work well however.
Thus our stay was not as positive as we had experienced elsewhere and care needs to be taken in regards to the conditions described above, particularly for a family wishing to stay more that one or two nights.
Yes, the apartment has hosted hundreds of guests on the last two years, and many of these left a sign of they stay ..
That's why I have booked a whole week on my calendar to fix everything.
The shower, so it does'nt leak anymore.
To solve the problem of the smell from the same shower (not absolutely from the kitchen sink).
To fix the balcony door/windows.
But I can not accept when you say that you felt cold.
The central heating was, is, on all the time, and when I entered upon the apartment after you left it, I felt quite hot!
But that's just my feeling. You, even in case you did'nt note that the central heating is located in the small bathroom, and that it's so easy to turn an handle so to high the temperature of the radiators, why did'nt you call me and tell me that you were could? I would have told you how to do, or I would have come there, as I told you I'd have done at your arrival, if you'll have had any problem.
The curtains, maybe you are right, but consider also that you could have simply shut the shutters and get the total dark.
The kettle! Who told you to use it? Yes, it is quite old and (as you can see it in the pictures), it's used only as a kitchen-decor! There is not a proper kittle in the apartment - it's one of the think I'm going to buy this week.
So i hope in the future no one else can take a decor as an utensil.
The location was very good. And it is spacious for 4 people. Little bit cold inside. The host Sandra was nice.
Stayed 1 night in Florence. Excellent, convenient location right near Ponte Vecchio-- 15 min walk from train station too. Sandra was very friendly and accommodated an early check in for us. The apartment was tidy, but it is an older building. Very quaint and homey. Unfortunately, the previous guests had been cooking and the smell lingered. Sandra was very apologetic and the smell may not always be present.
Ciao, my name is Sandra. I live to the center of Firenze, in a small, green place.
I have a degree on Political Sciences, I'm interested on communication, on science, I like the music, the books, the cats and the dogs, gardening, practising yoga and meeting people from different countryes.
That's one of the reasons because I am an host, with the mission to offer to my guests the same welcome that I would like to receive when I go abroad.
That includes to find a nice place, that also be comfortable, safe, warm and convenient, for a stay positively unforgattable!
