About this listing
"A treehouse, a freehouse, a secret you and me house, a high up in the leafy branches, cosy as can be house" -- Shel Silverstein
The treehouse is indeed a cozy little place perched on four maples 30 feet above a blanket of ferns. Access is by a ramp 70 ft. from the main house, where you'll have a private bathroom with shower. This quiet place in the woods has heat, electricity, and a small refrigerator. The main floor has a single bed, or CLIMB THE LADDER to the loft with a queen sized futon and down comforter. Enjoy the comfy reading rocker or sit on the deck and gaze at Mt. Abraham and the Green Mountain National Forest. The hot tub is a relaxing year-round spa under the stars.
For those less adventurous, there is a guestroom in the main house with a double bed. We have no pets and are very neat and tidy but you may bring your dog (with advance notice). My Wife and I had an amazing weekend at the Treehouse. It's a beautiful and fun place to stay. H & Ellie couldn't have been more kind and helpful during our trip. They provided us with lots of great conversation, helpful information about the area, and offered us Beer and Wine upon our arrival on the first evening. It was just beginning to get dark when we got there at about 8:30PM and the treehouse was all lit up awaiting our arrival. It was a very magical moment.
We spent our weekend hanging out around the treehouse, enjoying the local area (check out the Burlington Farmer's Market if you have the chance!) and relaxing in the hot tub each evening.
As other's have said the breakfast was absolutely amazing. I would recommend staying here to anyone! Thank you again H & Ellie. We had a great time.
We had been dreaming about staying at The Tiny Fern Forest Treehouse for a long time and as they say, good things come to those who wait. Harrison and Ellie have made an absolute paradise for those looking to be together in nature and for a peaceful place to connect with others or oneself. Their positive energy and attention to detail makes the space feel as much yours as it is theirs - you can feel their personalities and life in the spaces, but where this can feel alienating with absent hosts, it feels like "H" and "El" are sharing it with you. We had a lovely time chatting with them and sharing our wedding champagne and photo album. They made our anniversary feel even more special with their attention and special touches. They are wonderful people who host in order to connect and give back. I highly recommend a stay in the treehouse for rest, relaxation, and meeting great people!
Harrison & Ellie greeted us outside when we arrived! It was like coming home! They were both warm and welcoming!! My 2 grandchildren and I had been in the car for 5 hours!! It was worth every minute!! Memories that will last a lifetime!! A magical vacation for us all!!
H and Ellie were great hosts. They were flexible on our arrival time and communicative along the way. They are great conversationalists and also gave us our space.
We had a magical stay at H & Ellie's Tiny Fern Forest Treehouse. The treehouse is even cooler in real life. The bed in the loft is comfy and we slept peacefully. We loved the yummy homemade pistachio and chocolate chip cookies that were tucked away for us on the desk in the treehouse. We knew they were for us because our names were on the cute little chalkboard above the desk ;) . Ellie and H were/ are teachers. H is also an architect and built their beautiful home, and also built this adorable treehouse as a unique project with one of their sons. Ellie is a published author, and while we were there, my hubby picked up one of her books "While In Darkness There Is Light", and couldn't put it down. He finished before we even left, and now I am in the middle of it. It is gripping! We didn't expect the hosts to be so fascinating and charming! We enjoyed chatting with them over wine and cheese. They are beyond gracious hosts. I didn't even get to the breakfasts yet: scrumptious! Unbelievable 5 star breakfasts with wonderful variety, nice mix of healthy and decadent. We enjoyed their soothing jacuzzi while appreciating the tranquil wooded mountains of Vermont. There are several fun and interesting towns surrounding the treehouse :) ....(including original Ben & Jerry's in Burlington, and their factory in Waterbury ~ though we enjoyed LuLu's homemade ice cream right in Bristol even more!) but we enjoyed relaxing and having some quiet time to unwind together far from the madding crowd, away from electronics and back to nature. This was one of the loveliest little vacations we've had in a long time, and we look forward to returning one day -- to see our new friends as much as to enjoy this wonderful treehouse bed & breakfast getaway. Thank you Ellie & H! :)
We had a great weekend in the cozy tree house. Ellie and H were very welcoming hosts and were great fun to chat with. The daily breakfast is outstanding! We will definitely be back soon. Thanks! Cory & Kate

About the Host, Harrison
Ellie was a high school English teacher for 25 years and was an Associate Professor at Spalding University in the MFA Writing program. She has five books in print. We designed and built this house 12 years ago. Son Will and H built the treehouse over the course of three summers. H was also a high school teacher and retired in 2009. Your stay in the treehouse includes a generous continental breakfast, a private bath, spa privileges, and a quiet place to relax.
