The Space

"A treehouse, a freehouse, a secret you and me house, a high up in the leafy branches, cosy as can be house" -- Shel Silverstein

The treehouse is indeed a cozy little place perched on four maples 30 feet above a blanket of ferns. Access is by a ramp 70 ft. from the main house, where you'll have a private bathroom with shower. This quiet place in the woods has heat, electricity, and a small refrigerator. The main floor has a single bed, or CLIMB THE LADDER to the loft with a queen sized futon and down comforter. Enjoy the comfy reading rocker or sit on the deck and gaze at Mt. Abraham and the Green Mountain National Forest. The hot tub is a sweet new addition to the place.

For those less adventurous, there is a guestroom in the main house with a double bed. We have no pets and are very neat and tidy but you can bring your dog if you want. All linens and little complimentary toiletries are provided, and you'll enjoy a generous continental breakfast in the sunny dining room in the morning.

  • Ellie and H were so warm and welcoming. The tree house, their home, and their land were all amazing. It's a great place to relax. Perfect for couples as well as families. We plan to go back next year.

  • After reading so many positive reviews, we were excited about our time in the treehouse, but H and Ellie topped our expectations. We couldn't have asked for better hosts; they were gracious, caring, accommodating, and truly interested in making our experience at the treehouse the best it could be. They immediately welcomed us into their home and made us feel good about spending time in their space. They also provided excellent recommendations for a hike to the top of Mt. Abraham (visible from their house), a swimming hole down the road, and for restaurants in Lincoln and Vergennes. We especially enjoyed the quaint and peaceful and meticulous nature of the treehouse, the outdoor shower, and the hot tub. Also, sleeping up in the treehouse during a thunderstorm and waking to birdsong tremendously added to the experience of being in the tiny fern forest. We have visited many B & Bs, but have never had an experience as good as the one at the tiny fern forest treehouse. Finally, the combination of the setting and the warm natures of H and Ellie made the experience truly remarkable. They were genuinely curious and caring, not just about our stay, but about our backgrounds, our interests, and us as people. We loved hearing their stories as well, and we really cannot say enough good things about how wonderful they are as hosts.

If you are thinking about staying at the Tiny Fern Forest Treehouse, stop thinking and make a reservation. You will be glad you did.

  • We arrived to the beautiful setting of the treehouse during a bicycle trip with my 2 kids (11 & 9).
From the time we arrived we felt special.

The treehouse is spectacular and provides everything for a special experience.
The hot tub was a welcomed treat after days of bicycle riding.
Ohhhhhh the cookies they had for us waiting in the treehouse were sooooo good.

The hosts Harrison and Ellie are such wonderful people and truly made our stay a wonderful experience. They welcomed us into their home like we were family.

The breakfast was the best we had during our 5 day tour through Vermont.

Everyone should be so lucky to stay at the Tiny Fern Treehouse and to be hosted by H and Elllie.

We just loved it and will always remember it.

P.S. thanks again for helping us get into Bristol ;)

  • I'm hesitant to write this review as it's tempting to keep this place to myself. My daughter (age 14) and I decided to spend a night in a treehouse. It's on our "life list". I heard very good things about The Tiny Fern Forest Treehouse. They were all true! Upon check-in the Reynolds took the time to show us their home and the treehouse. You couldn't help but relax. Breakfast the next morning was delicious! I cannot wait to visit again.

  • The Tiny Fern Treehouse was magical and our visit was even more wonderful than expected! Ellie and H were the most gracious hosts. We loved our conversions with them and the homemade breakfast was scrumptious. My 9 year old son can't stop talking about our visit - we can't wait to return!

  • My husband and I stayed at this magical treehouse on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend! We were welcomed with wine, cheese, and warm conversation! Ellie and H. instantly made us feel at home, and the four of us laughed for hours. After a delightful dinner out, the hot tub under the stars was a treat, until the twinkling lights of the treehouse beckoned us in for the night. Over-looking the fern forest and hearing the birds the next morning, we were once again filled with gratitude as we sipped our coffee, 300 feet above the forest floor. As hard as this may be to believe, we didn't see a single mosquito! The waffle breakfast and homemade granola made us feel like children (even if we were secretly glad that there weren't any of those running around). Thank you, Ellie and H.! We hope to return one day soon!

You were only 30 feet in the air, dear one, but I'm glad it felt like flying! Sorry to miss you and Chris at breakfast, but we both enjoyed getting to know you. Please do come back. We've barely scratched the surface of all there is to do and say!

  • My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Tiny Fern Treehouse. It was exactly what we expected - a peaceful getaway off the beaten path. Harrison and his wife, Ellie, were the perfect hosts: friendly, helpful and engaging. We enjoyed getting to know them over wine and cheese while watching the Kentucky Derby. They gave us outstanding suggestions for nearby hiking and the best restaurant meal we've had in years. The accommodations were comfortable and very special. It will be difficult to beat this experience.

  • We absolutely loved our stay in the treehouse! Ellie and H are such sweet, gracious hosts, and the breakfasts they provided were amazing! Mom and I really enjoyed chatting with them over wine and snacks on Friday evening. The treehouse itself is an experience not to be missed! We had beautiful weather on Friday and Saturday and even got to enjoy some time out on the deck reading! Thanks so much for making mom's birthday a memorable one :).
