Double / single room in Montcada Street (Barri Gòtic, Gothic District), beside Picasso Museum and the basilica of Santa Maria del Mar. The house is 10 minutes way on foot from the beach of Barceloneta and the Port Vell (Old Harbour). The room has wi-fi connection, a wardrobe, a bureau, heating and a ceiling fan. Sheets included in the price.
She is very polite and cool! I loved it to stay at her house! Everything is tidy and clean. And last but not least - she has 2 wonderful cats!!!! Thank you for everything :-)
Mariona's place is seriously is an amazing location. It's in the Gothic quarter literally next door to the Picasso museum. The room itself wasn't exciting. Simple and clean. It wouldn't be recommended for anyone who can't handle stairs as it is on the 4th floor. We had privacy and Mariona was friendly. We are really happy we stayed here in such a magical part of Barcelona!
I really enjoyed staying here. The location is great, as it is next door to Museu Picasso. Mariona was very nice and accommodating. The room is basic, but when you're in Barcelona you won't be spending much time in your room. I recommend a stay here!!!
Mariona was an ideal host. She contacted me way before my arrival to make sure everything would be ok on my part. Check-in was a breeze, I just called her when I got to her door and she came down to let me in. Handing me the key right away and making sure I could work the lock before we even began our way up.
The appartment is on the third floor so be ready for some long stairs but well worth the climb. Once inside the appartment is VERY spacious and so is the bedroom. There was a spacious closet with enough room to put my clothes in as well as stash my luggage in. There is a large table that doubles as a desk and a ceiling fan which was great to cool down a bit upon coming in.
She has two cats which mostly stay in the living room, being a cat lover I enjoyed petting them when I would get home. And if you are affraid of being awakened by meows at 5 in the morning, do not worry about this as they do not have access to the rooms at night.
On my first day went to the market so I tagged along with her, she showed me around a bit which was great as an orientation tour.
Location wise, I loved the area, mostly pedestrian streets, busy, lively neighborhood. Many shops, pubs, restaurants and litterally a few doors from the Picasso museum. Franco Train station is less than 10 minutes walking, so is the closest subway station. Going to Sagrada Familia took less than 30 minutes from the appartment. (walking then subway).
The beach is about 25 minutes away and is very easy to get to.
While I do not have anything to complain about the appartment, I had noticed two points by previous users before I made my reservation : The darkness in the stairs at night at the slow speed of the WIFI. I agree that it is dark in the stairs but a small flashlight or even a smartphone would be enough to light your way. As for the WIFI I found that while it is long to get to a site, once you are on your desired site, navigating on it is not so bad.
Overall, I loved the appartment, Mariona could not be better as a hostess. If I ever go back again to Barcelona I will cross my fingers that I can stay here again.
Thank you very much for a great stay.
My girlfriend and I stayed at Mariona's place in Barcelona near the Picasso museum and we loved it!
Mariona was very nice, helpful and even more so professional.
We encountered no problems and it was exactly as advertised.
We had a fantastic time in Barcelona, Mariona helped us a lot with exploring the city. The room is exactly as described and the location is superb: bars, cafes, groceries, subway station.
Mariona was an amazing hostess. Just as nice as can be. The apartment is in a great part of town,no more then 30 min from anything.
The reservation was canceled 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Perfect neighborhood. Nice hosts. I would suggest washing all sheets + linens before sleeping in the bed. Also their is a distinct cat litter smell throughout the apartment. Wifi connection is unbearably slow. Also pitch black walking up the stairwell so be sure to bring a flashlight. I wouldn't stay here again.
Mariona was very helpful during my stay in Barcelona. The location couldn't be better - in El Born, right beside the Picasso Museum. I could go out late in the evening as the area where she lives is usually full of tourists and is very safe. Her building, made of old stones, has a lot of character.
