This is a traditional cave house that is situated on the cliffs of Oia, Santorini, and more specifically in the neighborhood of St.Spyridon. This house is amongst the top privileged ones, having a stunning view over the caldera, a breathtaking scenery that most of us have enjoyed only through postcards or advertising imagery. To add to that, it is located right on the side of the most photographed church, St. Spyridons’, the one with the 2 blue domes.
The house is 83sqm and features a huge veranda of 43sqm.
It consists of three bedrooms, one of which is a fully autonomous master bedroom, a large vaulted living room, bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. It can comfortably accommodate 7 people, whether couples or families with children or even large groups of friends. It has three double beds and one single bed.
The residence is decorated with beautiful antique furniture.
This is a self catering accommodation.
Amenities provided: towels, bed linen.
I stayed here with five friends on a holiday, and I have to say it would not have been the same if we stayed anywhere else. The terrace of this house has an incredible view of Oia. The traditional decor of the home was also beautiful. I am already planning to come back to Santorini and stay in this picturesque house. (FYI if you get postcards in Santorini this house is in a lot of them) so if that doesn't tell you how perfect the location is I'm not sure what will!
The absolute best place to stay in Santorini. The house sits right next door to the famous Blue Domes and the view of the Caldera is unbelievable. The house was very clean and came with everything we needed. Anna and Yiannis were so accommodating and helpful. Yiannis set up reservations for us and even drove us into Fira one night so we didn't have to pay for the bus. He really went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. The only downside of the house were the large amount of tourists that surrounded the house to take pictures of the Blue Domes but that only proves how amazing the location is. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to have a wonderful stay in Santorini.
Yannis was our wonderful host, but even before Yannis there had been an amazing taxi driver/tourguide waiting at the airport to bring us directly to Yannis who carried our bags up to the house. There is no need to tell about the house because if you are lucky enough to stay in this house you can experience for yourself. In regards to size and well equipped -well,everything you could use and then some. We spent five days in this house on this island to attend our Daughters wedding , and the house, people, (wedding crew) location, restaurants, beaches, etc were all perfect. Also I would add that we used Airbnb on two parts of this trip and have found it amazing, we will not hesitate to use this service from now on.
Our family of four stayed in the Bluedome Cave House for nearly a week. The view from the terrace is absolutely stunning, "spectacular" doesn't even come close to describing it. The location is great -- there are plenty of good restaurants nearby; in fact we tried a new one each day for breakfast and dinner and still didn't get to them all. Lots of opportunities to go for walks / hikes.
The house really is a cave with an undeniable charm -- sloping walls, odd rocky protusions, and irregular doorways (some very small!). The natural light is surprisingly good, at least while we were there in October. The furnishings are eclectic and interesting, although not especially comfortable. On the down side, the rear bedrooms were a bit musty smelling and there was a bit of mold here and there... it is a cave!
Imagine you have a suite next to the Mona Lisa. The Blue Dome in Oia is an icon, probably the most photographed spot in Santorini. Other reviewers are spot on when they mention the nearly non-stop sound of camera shutters from sunrise to sunset -- it does take some getting used to. Indeed, the photographers all come for the fabulous view! And though there are throngs, 90% of them are respectful and polite. The exception seems to be the wedding photographers -- there were as many as ten wedding photo shoots a day on the narrow confines of the steps, and the photographers were generally loud, rude and invasive. In short, this is not the place for a private getaway. But as we became accustomed to the semi-chaos, we found ourselves having wonderful interactions with people from all around the globe, all here simply for the beauty that is Santorini and the utterly sublime combination of natural spectacle and lovely organic architecture.
We arrived early in Santorini and the owner was so accommodating and went out of her way to help us get into the property which I am extremely grateful for. The outside patio and view from this property is absolutely breathtaking. The location was great as it is very close to all the shops and restaurants and not too many stairs to climb. What must be noted is that due to the location of this propery there is a constant frenzy of photographers surrounding you. If you are looking for privacy and seclusion this property is not for you. Initially we found this quite frustrating but got used to it and put up the umbrella to try get a bit of privacy. That said we had a wonderful stay here.
Bluedome is a great location for a nice view of the Caldera and close to see Oia Sunset. The sunset view was different everyday affected by the cloud.
Lot of steps and hills to reach the Bludome from the parking areas. It may be difficult if you are not a physically fit. Thanks for sending Nick to help with the luggage. Kitchen is tiny and challenging to cook anything. I did not know they do not clean up the place while we stayed. I thought payment for daily cleaning was taken up front in addition to the daily rental.
We had a fantastic time at the bluedome cave house! The terrace is the best place to be in santorini, the cave apartment is very well appointed and clean. Very professionally run. Just a wonderful experience, highly recommend it!!
My family is from Santorini. I used to spend my summers in Oia as a child and has always been a special place for me. My goal is to share this experience with other people.
