Breathtaking mountain view in upscale quiet neighborhood on the Windward side of the island of O'ahu. Avoid the night-long noise of bustling Waikiki for some rest in between daytime adventures in our contemporary style home. About 3 miles to beautiful Kailua and Lanikai beaches, often rated in the top 10 in the world. Kayaks, surfboards and other water-sport can be rented by Kailua beach.
2 miles to charming downtown Kailua Town with plenty of local boutique shops and many restaurants of all different cuisines. We also have a nice $6 movie theater (4-screens) and a small shopping center (market, restaurants, Starbucks) a half mile (1 km) from the house. Close to many popular hiking trails. Municipal buses go everywhere on the island and there are stops at either end of our street. But, we are at the top of a steep hill, so you might prefer renting a car at the airport. Only a 30 min drive to Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, Hanauma Bay. Also convenient for a beautiful coastal drive up to the famous North Shore.
Your end of the upstairs hallway has the Private room with QUEEN size platform bed and full closet and a full bath with tub & shower. I have a friend as a long term renter in an adjacent room, with whom you would share the bathroom. She is very nice, over 50, and stays mostly at her boyfriend’s place. Your host's master bedroom is at the other end of the hall, separated by a home office. Backyard has a large pool and oversize spa off the lanai (patio) and an enclosed outdoor shower & dressing room on the side yard. BBQ and / or eat outside (island style) at the table and chairs on the lanai. Wireless internet works throughout the property.
We share the common areas - family room with 50" 3-D TV with cable, Wii, etc. Large living room (with a TV) and formal dining room with a cathedral ceiling, breakfast room with a view of the mountains, the lanai, 1/2 bath downstairs, and a full kitchen including dishwasher, oven, microwave, toaster oven, large refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker and a new washer/dryer in the garage. Completely fenced yard for privacy includes an outdoor clothesline. All rooms have ceiling fans and extra fans are available. There is some AC in the house, but hardly ever needed. Your host is a busy professional and has 3 friendly indoor cats. Tradewind breezes keep plenty of fresh air flowing in and cat dander out. We try to be very accommodating.
We are not extremely active, but will be happy to give you pointers and info to help you enjoy your stay. We keep beach mats and a couple of boogie boards for use by guests. We'll also teach you how to pronounce Hawaiian street names and a few words you'll be hearing to get you by.
Please book at least a few days in advance of your arrival due to delays in communicating across time zones. (6 hours earlier here than Eastern Standard time, 10 hours earlier than Greenwich Mean Time.)
You'll have a key to the house. We'll share the common areas. I occasionally have weekend parties, at which you are welcome.
This is your vacation, so up to you whether you want minimum interaction or a nightly chat to help plan your activities. I leave early for work and often come home late, but you'll have my cell phone number if needed.
I don't ask for a damage deposit, so no small children.

First of all, thank you Mark for your welcome. Everything was perfect. We arrived a little bit late as we wanted to enjoy as much as we can the first day and Mark was still there to welcome us. The House is very nice in a charming and quiet residential area. His home and his warm welcome make you feel immediately at home. There is everything you need and mark had everything you think you don't need but will help you to spend good days. The location is great , about 10 min drive to the two best beaches in the world :-) Lanikai and Kailua beaches. They are both awesome and between mark house and the paradise there is everything you need to grab additionnal fresh drink and something to eat at the beach. Also it's about 25 mn to Waikiki. We spent all our night there and it was convenient to come back at Mark's house and then go hike and have good time at beach in the morning. Anyway, we had a great experience for our first time using Airbnb and mark is a great host. I will repeat if i have the opportunity. Many thanks Mark and i'm looking forward to see you again.
Absolutely GREAT! We had the run of a beautiful home (white wall-to-wall carpeting, so no shoes allowed) and a pool. Mark was a wonderful host, and the 3 cats were no problems at all. I had never used this approach before, but will certainly do so again if our hosts would be half as nice as Mark. The drive to wonderful Kailua Beach is short (2 Miles?),and access to both the North and South coasts is easy. Truly a SIX star stay. Thank you Air B & B. And thanks to you Mark for making our week an enjoyable one.
Really enjoyed our stay!
Cheerful room with birds singing in the am.
Nice pool and lots of dry towels to use.
They had Chili and corn bread for us when we arrived.
Lots of cool modern kitchen gadgets to use. Krig coffee maker.
Very well behaved cats !
Only 25 min. drive to Hanauma Bay .
We spent 8 peaceful and relaxing days at Mark´s nice house with splendid lanai and pool area. Kailua is a great place with mostly locals or American tourists. Mark´s house gives easy access to beaches, restaurants and shopping as well as for touring the island. It has a nice mountain view and is in a quiet neighorhood.
Mark is a perfect host - nice, charming and caring about his guests questions and needs. Also he - and his tenant Valerie - are very decent and private people, who provide their guests with lots of privacy, even living in a house together.
The sleepingroom is not huge but charming and offered room enough for our big luggage to store away. The bed is made for good sleep which we had. The house is spaceous and everything is very well kept and clean. We appreciated the full use of kitchen, as we are late breakfast lovers and were not depending on going out all the time for dinner.. We even operated the fancy (for us Europeans) grill and had a nice barbeque by the pool on Sunday afternoon with our friends and Mark and Val.
We had a perfect begin of our Hawaiian vacation and would always come back to Marks home. We can highly recommend this b&b.

Great place, Hawaiian/American, thick carpets, quiet neighborhood, nice mountain views. Mark is a helpful host. Would certainly come back.
Marks accommodations were very comfortable and pleasant. Mark made me feel very much at home- my home away from my N.J. home. Was very tempted to stay another 6 months! Enjoyed the lovely pool for a morning dip and having my breakfast on the lanai.
We arrived and was very happy with the house. There was a very relaxed feeling to Marks house. It was nice cause it felt like home and the pool is very warm and enjoyable after a long day. Cooking was easy cause the kitchen has been organized well. The cats of the house are fun to play with. The overall week was peaceful and relaxing.
Only positive things on Mark and his apartment! Mark was super-nice, and even if our check-out were unusual (late afternoon) he put an extra effort to make things easy for us.
The room was clean and comfy, maybe not huge but more than ok for a couple.
Living room and pool are very nice and available to be used (we didn't only because we were running around the island all day long), and Mark provided us bodyboards and towels for the beach (very useful when you are traveling around and your has already been used for a week!!) and was willing to help us for any kind of need (being water from the fridge or a suggestion for a place to eat).
The 3 cats of the house are very tender but not intrusive, and I can't see how you could possibly not love them!
Mark's house is really beutiful and cool place. I like his kindness, lovely cats and romantic pool with dolphins and whales. :-) The flat floors are covered with the soft, warm carpet. I strongly recommend the staying his house in Paradise!
