First floor flat in the suburb of Santa Catalina, recently refurbished preserving the traditional vintage-type style. With three double bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen and balcony, it has several charming features, such as the well or the outdoor patio, in typical Majorcan style. Also on the walls you will find exhibitions of young artists from the Island! (Actually six shots of the photographer Alberto Cubillo)
The suburb of Santa Catalina forms part of the metropolis of Palma de Mallorca, standing on a hillock adjacent to the suburbs of Son Españolet and Son Armadams, being an emblematic district of the “Ciutat de Palma”, as the city is known to its inhabitants. It has a well-known market called “Mercat de Santa Catalina”, which as yet conserves the flavour of the old traditional markets, and where you can buy typical Mallorcan country produce.
Historically, it was a neighbourhood of fishermen, due to its proximity to the sea, and one can still see the typical one and two storey houses, with their characteristic balconies and their façades with Mallorcan shutters. Some have a small garden, which reminds us of how the suburb used to be in the not very far-off past; Santa Catalina conserves the local style of low-rise houses and quiet streets.
The district has its origins in the settlement of “El Jonquet”, so called because of an area of reed-beds, which grew in abundance, being near to the sea. This original settlement was populated by fishermen, followed by various tradesmen connected to the coastal world, such as basket-makers, and others such as millers. The windmills of “El Jonquet” and in the nearby Calle Indústria bear witness to these activities.
The suburb became rich at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, with modernist style houses, of which the “Mar y Tierra” theatre is still a living example.
The area has all the necessary services for present-day life, such as a medical centre, schools, post-office, banks and establishments which range from small, peaceful restaurants or characteristic local bars, to music-bars decorated in the latest creative tendencies.

My daughter and her friends were hosted by Miguel in Palma. They enjoyed the flat, which is located in a very quiet and central area. Close to the main food market, which they found really nice.
The flat was clean and comfortable and it allowed them to recover from a very troublesome trip to Palma (flight cancelled, coach, another flight booked, flight delayed of hours again).
Miguel was a helpful . His apartment is ideally located near the center of Palma, walking everywhere. It is also charming and clean. I would definitely recommend staying here.
This apartment is really great! I was here with 4 friends. You can wash your clothes, use the towels, you can sit on the terrace and enjoy the sun. The neighbors are really friendly. There are also good restaurants in the neighborhood . We had a great time. And Miguel was also really kind and helpful. He is a good host! I can recommend this apartment.
We had a fab time at Miguel's house. The apartment is bright, airy, quirky and feels like a real Mallorcan home. It's a residential street with all the hustle and bustle you would expect, but the bedroom at the back is quiet at night. There was everything you could possibly need, including facilities for babies (which we didn't need!) to scented ironing water and plenty of linens and kitchen items.
The local area is a great little neighbourhood - it is 5 minutes form the centre, but different enough that you experience real Palma rather than the tourist havens. We recommend eating in the Santa Catalina area, there are lots of great bars, restaurants and breakfast spots - also don't miss a meal at Santa Catalina covered food market, where locals sit up at fish or meat counters and eat fresh catch of the day or little tapas with cups of wine.
The apartment has a small balcony where you can catch the rays until about 6 pm - everything worked very well, fast Wi-Fi, an app to watch TV shows in original language etc. but hopefully you'll be out exploring lots too!
Miguel met us in the apartment and showed us round, and left some great recommendations of places to eat, drink and go out. The airport bus stops about 3 minutes away so super easy to get to as well.
The boiler tank is a bit small, so if you have really long showers, the water does cool down, but in the summer I reckon this would be refreshing. Also, it warms up again in about 10 minutes.
Overall a lovely experience, would highly recommend.
Miguel's place is wonderful! We four girls had a great time there. It is located in a very lovely street, nearby are many nice restaurant! Walking to the old city takes max 15 minutes. The place is quite clean and tidy. Miguel is very helpful, giving us lots of helpful tips and information. I would recommend this place!
The flat is very clean and nice. the location is great. Miguel Angel is a very nice host, he prepared a special information about the city for us, gave us some plans of the city and explained everything. Our flight was late and we came very late at night. In spite of this he waited for us to hand in the keys.
My parents and I had an amazing time at Miguel's place. The apartment is lovely, really well kept and fully equipped. Miguel has always been extremely punctual in replying to all our emails before our arrival and provided us with a lot of useful information about Santa Catalina and Palma de Mallorca in general. He allowed us to do an early check-in and a late check-out and he even booked a typical restaurant for our Saturday dinner... definitely a 5 stars host!
