Charming room in charming house 1

House - Private room · Laarstraat, Antwerp, Flemish Region 2610, Belgium

The Space

Come and stay in my charming 1930 house in the south of Antwerp, very close to the largest park of the city, in a residential and quiet area, close to the main roads to and around the city.
My house is a cozy and sunny place with a nice little garden where you can relax in the summer or watch the birds from the dining room in winter.
There are 2 rooms on the top floor (2 sets of stairs). We share the bathroom (shower and bath) and kitchen (I do not offer breakfast, but there is a supermarket down the street). There are 2 separate toilets in the house. The price shown is for 1 room.
The house is situated near the 3 main hospitals of the city and the south campuses of Antwerp University, so if you are a visiting professor, student, doctor, nurse, family of a patient... this is the place for you.
Each year around August 15, the Middelheim Jazz Festival in Park Den Brandt (10 mins walk), offers a beautiful podium to great jazz musicians ((website hidden)); the close proximity of the beautiful Middelheim open air museum ((website hidden)), gives you a great way to combine culture and leisurely enjoyment of open air spaces.
Prefer going to town? Buses to city center and main Antwerp railway stations are very close by, or you can take one of my bikes (available against a deposit) to cycle to the city center (+/- 20 mins).
Free parking on the street, free internet access.
Shops (food and non-food) are within walking distance (10 mins) and there is a large supermarket down the street.
Dutch is my mother tongue, but I am fluent in French & English and I speak some German.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • I had a really great time in Antwerp and the ease of my stay was down to staying with such a great host, Marianne.

Before I had even arrived in Antwerp she had given me great detailed directions to her house from Brussels MIDI. Additional information on trains, buses and fares made my journey much easier.

She greeted me on my arrival and made me feel very welcome. She gave me a map and showed me how to get the school I was travelling to over the week. She even offered me one of her bikes to ride into town.

The room was of a great size with a very comfy double bed. The whole house very clean and spacious. Throughout the week I was able to use all the kitchen appliances and had space in draws and the fridge for the food I'd brought.

As a host Marianne was welcoming, warm and lovely to chat to. She was really helpful with any questions I had about my stay. I would definitely recommend staying!

  • At first, you always feel like a stranger in a new town. But that disappears very quickly with Marianne and her quiet, beautiful house. I enjoyed being there.

  • Marianne is a kind and welcoming host. We spent three nights at her place and it felt like home. Her house is beautiful, clean and comfortable. Easy access by bike or bus to the center of Antwerp. This is the perfect place for someone who wants a quiet and relaxed place to stay. Thank you Marianne!

  • Marianne was a wonderful host! She was so welcoming and allowed us to use the kitchen and all other parts of the house--it was a home away from home. She spoke perfect english which was great because we found ourselves in some interesting conversations. She also had a whole box full of maps and pamphlets readily available for our use. We had a wonderful stay with Marianne and would definitely recommend her house to any airbnb users!

  • My stay at Marianne's comfortable, spacious and nicely decorated home was at least to say very pleasant! I was amazed by the way her home is build, with many different, each on their own decorated rooms, areas and corners. She is an excellent host, very interested in learning and getting to know her guests more and extremely helpful to provide you anything you need during your stay or information about how to get around in Antwerpen and which places are a must see. I would definitely book with Marianne for future stays in Antwerp. Thanks heaps for having me!

  • Very nice house en place. Felt very at ease and welcome. Nice kitchen, nice bathroom, ... and good sleep, except that stairs might crack when someone walks on them in the night (although nobody before me was bothered with it, I heard :-))

  • It was a pleasure to spend 2 days at Marinne's house. She is a great hostess: welcoming and helpful. I felt like at home. The house is beautiful and the room very comfortable. Excellent option!

  • I had a wonderful stay at Marianne's. She is a lovely hostess, ready to help me with finding my way around, and giving me a history about Belgium. And the accommodations were really spectacular...better than the photos! Truly a great place to stay if you want to stay a quiet area Antwerp. I biked into town everyday and found it to be so enjoyable.

    Couldn't recommend this place enough!
