Come and stay at The Baker's Cottage in Eldorado, North East Victoria's High Country! My name’s Sandy and I’m a Wine Tour Guide in North East Victoria, Central and Southern Victoria.
Send me a quick message to double check availability before you book or if you have any questions or requests. Please ask about one night stays as they are available on weekdays and some weekends if it's close to the weekend you are wanting.
My home is situated close to several well known Wine Regions and the Victorian Alps. A short drive to Beechworth, Milawa and Wangaratta, we're right in the centre of it all in Eldorado. It’s an original, modestly restored Miner’s cottage from the Gold Rush era and you’re welcome to share the property with me while touring Australia.
There are two private bedrooms both with soft comfy queen size beds. There are two sitting/lounge rooms, one with an open fire. The cottage has one bathroom (with bathtub), separate shower. There are two toilets. A modern kitchen which features a wood-fired stove. Enjoy log fires in the winter, air-conditioning in the summer and lazy days on the verandah.
All within easy stroll of the local Tavern and General Store. Find out how to pan for gold in the creek just like the prospectors have done for over 100 years.
The property is also home to an original early 1900’s brick Bakery complete with its still-in-working-order Scotch Oven.
There are walks along the creek within minutes from home: see native wildlife; enjoy a stroll across the Swing Bridge; visit the Gold Dredge and the Eldorado Museum. Bring your bike and ride the Rail Trails to Beechworth, Bright or Wangaratta. Enjoy the peace and tranquility as well as our small community’s country hospitality. Closest large town 15 mins by car; closest Rail Trail Station 5 mins by car; closest Winery 10 mins by car. I am happy, when possible, to pick you up from either the train station or Albury or Wangaratta airport if you are coming without a car.
I want to thank Sandy for her wonderful hospitality, our weekend in the country was perfect. Sandy went above and beyond, picking up and dropping off at the train station, borrowing bikes for us to use, and showing us a few sites in the area.
The Bakers Cottage itself was beautiful, clean, comfortable and spacious. Our favourite place was cosied up in front of the wood fire, eating the chocolate Sandy had left for us.
Again, thank you Sandy for making our weekend one to remember. We look forward to coming back again next year.

The Bakers Cottage in Eldorado is a very special place to stay. Sandy has created a space this is inviting, tranquil and friendly. A perfect mix of unique and tasteful style, that has been thoughtfully put together. The space is entirely comfortable with everything you need to unwind and relax. Eldorado itself is a hidden gem of a town, and being just a little off the beaten track only adds to it's charm. All of this is helped further by the fact that Sandy is such a genuinely warm and kind host. We had a fantastic break here and will definitely be back!!
Very comfortable and enjoyable stay in this beautiful old cottage.
The Bakers Cottage was a real find. It was perfect in very way. You could feel the pace of city living just melt away. The cottage was well equipped, breakfast delicious. Sitting outside in the garden in the sun was beautiful. Hopefully we will return.
Sandy's place was amazing- exactly like the beautiful pictures you see. We felt instantly welcomed by the small extra touches she went to by providing gourmet breakfast for us to prepare in the morning, little chocolates for us to enjoy and a welcome sign out the front. Place was very tranquil and really relaxing. Sandy was also so lovely and friendly and more than happy to answer any questions that was had. This would have to be our best airbnb experience and one which we will definitely come back too!
The Baker's Cottage is a lovely and relaxing retreat. The beds are comfortable and everything is right where you want it to be. Sandy is a lovely host who goes out of her way to help her guests have a pleasant stay. Highly recommended!!
Sandy's place was cute and comfortable. It had everything you need to have a relaxing weekend away in the gold town. It's not in walking distance of things so you will need to drive however you can go on some adventure walks through history. Sandy was a lovely host who is there if you need her but lets you have your time too.
Thanks Sandy for sharing your cottage with us and letting us in on the bakery house history. You really showed us anything is possible, it's a great set up and fantastic place to stay.
The Bakers Cottage is a wonderful place to stay. The house was very clean and Sandy has thought of everything you might need. On Friday night after a long drive it was so relaxing sitting beside the open fire and having a glass of wine, I would recommend the Bakers Cottage as the place to stay for a nice time in the country.
