Stay in a 105 year old Painted Lady with a side of San Francisco's bohemian 1970's history and art. SOMA/Mission with easy public transport.
We were in book the "Painted Ladies of San Francisco" & our Painted Lady has quite a past!
Your private space:
-Cozy bedroom (10.5x11) with real Queen sized bed
--TV/DVD with ability to plug laptop in & use as 19" monitor
-Floor plan (see last photo) gives you privacy.
-Closet, dresser, built in shelves empty & ready for your belongings.
-Original art from the previous owner, an amazing & very interesting lady.
Shared with me:
-Large eat-in kitchen
-Deck & garden
-washer & clothes line
-Edwardian bath with clawfoot tub
Please note that there is no shared "lounge" but you are welcome to hang out in the kitchen. It's great for computer time, hanging out & planning your day, etc. The back deck is also comfy with 2 big chairs - sheltered from San Francisco Summer fog :)
-WiFi & networked printer
-Plenty of room in the fridge & cabinet for your stuff.
-Free Washer & "Solar Dryer" (aka clothes line).
-Soap, shampoo, linens, towels etc.
KIDS: This house is soooo not toddler proof (the "hippie rustic")! Max of 2 for the room (one adult + 1 child). I'd also consider a babe-in-arms (2 adults + pre-toddling baby ok).
I am at work 8am - 7 p M-F. You will have plenty of full access private time to kitchen & bath.
I love to natter about San Francisco history (I'm an "Old San Francisco" nerd) & point you in the direction of things I think are cool when I'm around - but as mentioned, my work days are long so I may not see you a lot.
-1/2 block to 2 Groceries: Organic Co-op or Large & Cheap.
-0-3 blocks: Multiple restaurants & cafes & a permanent truck food court.
--Bus to Fisherman's Wharf - 1 block. Underground to everywhere, 3 blocks.
-Walk to hip, cool stuff in the Mission.
PARKING: Street parking is relatively easy, but FYI, 50% is restricted to 2 hours M-Sat 9-6.
On Site Pet: Your room is kept Kitty-Free (closed & no access for cat). You may rarely see her as she was a lost kitty & very skittish around strangers. I am mildly allergic so I am obsessive about cleaning kitty hair. And she's an indoor/outdoor kitty so kitty litter is OUTSIDE -- no bad smells.

This house was definitely groovy! It was a great value for the location and it was exactly as described. Naomi was a great, patient, and accommodating host - even when I was sending her emails a day before my arrival. I had a chance to meet Naomi for a moment (in between a wedding reception she was attending) - adorable sweetheart! She was very flexible with check in and check out times, so refreshing for my fiancé and I -- allowing us to really take advantage of our time in San Francisco. The best!
If you are a person who likes character where you stay and some simple luxuries (like a electric fireplace in the room and many towels!) - this is the place to stay. There's a great guidebook left in your room, which was helpful as we were gaining our bearings of the location. I would recommend Naomi's house to anyone.
This was our first experience booking accomadation through Airbnb.
My wife Brenda and I were impressed not only with the process but especially with our host, Naomi. She is a real gem. Thank you Naomi for a wonderful stay.
Loved this place and loved the area. Muni/Bart are all walking distance to get you where you need to go. Naomi ensures everything is covered so there are 0 questions about anything. One other thing is I found the bed to be really comfy and all the sheets and pillows gave off that fresh hotel like smell.
I struggle up the stairs with suitcases, and Naomi's there, and she'll pace you through the instructions and show you to the food trucks and talk Monty Python at length, which is what you need after New York scramble-out-in-Williamsburg-until-11-in-New-York-heat highs.
Naomi is a gem. Her house is quiet, and unassuming, which is what you need when you're catching up on sleep, and central, which is what you need when you're going out late at night to catch up on sleep the next day.
Thanks for the stay Naomi, I really appreciated it :)
Naomi's house is very inspiring. If you are looking for originality then it's the right place.
The room was quiet and clean. Location is good, and easy to get around in the city.
Naomi's little notes found in the room were helpful, for transportation and other useful tips for first time visitors.
Just a little detail, she's got a cute kitty ! If you happen to have allergies from pets, be mindful. The cat is left at home when Naomi goes to work, and this isn't mentioned on the website.
Overall, good experience, will be happy to go back !
Hemos estado muy a gusto en casa de Naomi, el trato ha sido inmejorable, la casa es preciosa y cuidada al mínimo detalle. Volveríamos sin dudarlo, ha sido un placer. Gracias por todo Naomi.

My stay in Naomi's groovy home was welcoming, comfortable, and clean. Her home was exactly as advertised... she made my stay effortless, offering personal space in bathroom and kitchen, provided prompt communications with easy to understand directions and entry information, and shared local tips and maps for getting around for town. The room and bed was very comfortable, has all you need for a wonderful San Francisco visit. You will enjoy your stay at the Groovy House
Naomi was a great host, the Groovy House very very charming. Everything was exactly as described. The Murphy Bed isn't only a miracle, it's also very comfortable! The area is perfect if you want to explore San Francisco as a tourist... It's easily possible to walk everywhere, as well as heaps of public transport possibilities!
Naomi prepared the room lovely, with towels, soap, heaps of information about San Francisco and everything a tourist would ever need. I highly recommend staying with Naomi if you are looking for a beautiful, convenient and very welcoming place to stay in San Francisco. Thanks Naomi!!!
Naomi's place is perfect for exploring all parts of San Francisco. The location is great - particularly if you are interested in visiting The Mission or The Castro. It is also well serviced by public transport. There is even a local bus to take you directly to the airport!
The room and the house itself are great and as described. Naomi is also a wonderful and very professional host. We would certainly recommend a stay in the quiet room in a groovy 1906 house!
Naomi is a great host, we felt really comfortable in the house and never had a problem with anything. She is relaxed to easy to hang out with/share kitchen etc. We really appreciated that. Our whole stay we felt cared for in every way, with everything from the small notes/signs to the big waffles breakfast (when cute nephew was visiting).
The room was very cosy, clean and had everything we needed. It was quiet (as in the name), we couldn't have had a better place to stay!
Overall we were very happy with the stay, enjoyed being in such an old house, enjoyed the location close to both downtown and Mission and great nightlife in SOMA.
