Thank you for inquiring into my newly refurbished 1920's board-formed stucco (very rare in Wisconsin) bungalow in the über popular and chill Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee. I am offering a private upstairs with half bath which features two well-appointed rooms, three skylights/four windows and plenty of vintage 50's (authentic) decorations and furniture. There are a table for four, two chairs, mini fridge, vintage fridge for storage, dresser, closet, farmers sink, tea kettle and a bench for you to place you belongings so you can unwind. The upstairs can accommodate up to 4 people comfortably, please let me know this when you book. There is cable TV downstairs, as well as a shower (I do provide 2 spa-type robes and flip flops), full kitchen, dining room and a couple of couches to lounge in the living room.
If you have never been to Milwaukee, the Bay View neighborhood is one of the best places in the city. There are plenty of locally-owned restaurants, bars (craftbeer-centric, townie and hipster), and funky shops within the neighborhood.
Check out the Guidebook within this listing to see a lot of the attractions within the neighborhood and some of my favorite places within Milwaukee.
If you plan to arrive by car, please be advised that you will need to register you car with city for night parking only (this is true throughout the city). There is plenty of street parking in the neighborhood and there are no time limits (except that the car must be registered at night). You will receive a link to the city to register your car once you book your rental. For stays longer than 3 days, ask about parking on premise.
Guest will have access to all common rooms downstairs: living room, dining room, kitchen, and shower. There is a washer and dryer in the basement.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as you want. If you are exploring the city and you have a question, I encourage my guests to text me, although I may not be able to answer immediately depending on my schedule.
There are two convenience stores about a block away. Walgreens is about a five minute walk.
Tenuta's (Italian -- including outdoor seating, 2 blocks)
Gyros and American/Custard (two blocks)
Canfora Bakery (two blocks -- one of the highest rated bakeries in the city--makes sandwiches too)
Classic Slice (NY Style Pizza -- one of the best in the city, about 5-6 blocks)
Sven's Cafe (6 blocks, outdoor seating and pet friendly -- tasty and inexpensive)
Also for coffee and light meals, Colectivo Bayview and Antodine are very close as well.
Pastiche (French -- about a five minute walk-25/23/25 Zagat)
On a nice day you can walk to Club Garibaldi (best or second best wings in the city--totally unique) or Palomino (southern).
There are also numerous other restaurants a few more blocks away! Bayview is known for its excellent restaurant scene. There are also a lot of places that will deliver to the house as well. The next neighborhood to the north is Walker's Point/Fifth Ward, which also has a burgeoning fine dining scene.
The house is just five beautiful blocks from Kinnickinnick Ave (aka KK as we locals say). This street is were you will find most or all of the amenities that you will need for your stay. This street is eclectic and vibrant, and most of the business are locally owned. Bayview is unique in that you will find little gems tucked away in the neignborhood as well, such as Palomino and Groppi's.
Outpost: Natural Foods Grocery Chain in MKE, similar to Whole Foods (about 5 blocks away or cut through the park)
Pick and Save as well as the Pig (AKA Piggly Wiggly are both about a mile away)
Groppi's Food Store--small, but inclusive neignborhood market (super cool, about a mile, beautiful walk)
Straight Shots (Northwoods feel/blue collar with a good vibe, 1 block)
The Palm (5 stars on Yelp, voted one of the top 100 beer bars in the country by Draft magazine, known for its eclectic beer and liquor selection, about 5 minute walk). Small, dark, intimate. Highly recommend.
Lee's Luxury Lounge (clean dive bar with pool and skee ball --across the street from Palm)
Roman's and Sugarmaple are both about a mile away (both considered to be two of the best beer bars/taverns in the country by Draft magazine.
There are also many other bars in the neighborhood like the Bubbler, Blackbird, Frank's, Tonic, Cactus Club, Burnhearts, etc.
Art Museum, Harley Fest, Summerfest, Polish/Irish/German Fest, about 3.5 miles, take the 15 or Green Line by bus (about a 5 minute walk). If you bike, it is easy to access downtown.
Historic Third Ward (about 3 miles).
5 miles to Marquette University.
8 miles to UWM (green line bus)--a beautiful drive along the lakefront (almost the entire drive)
12 miles to the Medical College of Wisconsin/Froedert.
Bike Rentals (Unfortunately, there are no bike rental facilities in Bayview, despite Bike Shops. You would need to go downtown and rent one). If I am available, I can assist you with the pick up and drop off of one.
I live within walking distance to three bus stops (one which will take you to Summerfest/Harley Fest or one of the many festivals this summer, downtown, Historic Third Ward and Fifth Ward, Brady St., and the East Side). The house is also located just a couple of minutes from Interstate 94 and three blocks from Interstate 794, which will take you either to the airport or downtown in just minutes.
I am easy going and enjoy meeting new people. I just ask guest to stay safe and clean up after themselves. Please no high heels or metal/steel tips upstairs. I have refinished soft-wood pine floor that scratch easily. If you need to move furniture, please LIFT the furniture or ask me for assistance.
Feel free to put your food or drinks in the fridge (mini fridge upstairs or larger fridge downstairs) and relax. I do have a spare fridge in the basement, but please let me know if you will need to use this in advance as my basement is quite messy (the rest of the house is not).
Please note: This house is 100 years old, which mean old plumping. Only human waste allowed into the toilets.
Please no loud music in the early morning or late at night. 9 pm - 9 am.
Mike is an exceptionally nice, generous and easy to be with host! We had an entire floor for ourselves and were allowed to use the kitchen and an additional bathroom. The place is clean, very well equipped and was neatly prepared for our stay. Mike recommended so many fun places and had even prepared something to eat when we arrived!
Parking was no problem either and getting downtown by car was quick and easy.
Should you ever get the chance to have Mike as a host, don't miss it!!!
We stayed with Mike for two nights. We couldn't have asked for a more gracious or accommodating host. Mike's upstairs living quarters is perfect for the weekend getaway or longer if needed. Unexpectedly, Mike made us breakfast on our first morning including awesome tacos, fresh coffee, and great conversation. I'd highly recommend staying with Mike as you will not only walk away with a good experience you will probably make a great friend as well. Thanks!
Mike was an exceptional host and his home is lovely. Really unique place that was impeccably clean. He is thoughtful and I felt very comfortable and welcome. I would highly recommend and wish him the best!
Had a great stay at Mike's place! Space is charming, very cozy, great location and his recommendations around the neighborhood were very welcomed. Can't wait to stop back to bayview and explore some more. Mike was so courteous and accommodating as well as in communication right from the start.
Mike was a wonderful host. He's very friendly and was nice enough to cook us a delicious Sunday breakfast. His home is cozy and comfortable. Highly recommended. Thanks so much Mike!
Mike was a wonderful host. He's one of those people who is intuitive enough to know when you want to converse or be alone. Sometimes, on a trip, you want both. The day we arrived, he invited us in with a key to our own door and robes, flip flops, and freedom to enjoy his beautiful home as we liked! We settled in to the clean, elegant, mid-century modern floor upstairs and relaxed for a few hours. Later that evening, when my friend and I were ready to go out, Mike gave us awesome suggestions and engaged us in real conversation. If you're like me, you enjoy human contact and the lost art of banter. Mike was just an all- around cool guy. The next morning, after a perfect night's sleep on the great bed, Mike made a full breakfast! We were truly made to feel at home. I recommend a stay here as a compliment to your visit to Milwaukee. Mike and his home were great!
Mike is a terrific Airbnb host, and his home is absolutely charming. The flat was easy to find, accurately described, and provided for the ideal "home base" during my stay in Milwaukee for the triathlon national championships. Many thanks, Mike, for your hospitality!

Hi, my name is Mike. I just recently completed my M. Arch and am looking for full-time work within the field of architecture. I am well-traveled in Wisconsin, North America and Europe. I'm easy going and love Wisconsin during the summer. Take advantage of all that Milwaukee has to offer and the wonderful neighborhoods.
I love cooking and pinball. A lot.
