OM Bear Ranch
Note: You talked, we listened, recent bathroom remodel and a face lift in the kitchen. Please read the details regarding this quaint, rustic, old world house.
Looking for friendly persons to share our sweet home. You are an easy going, respectful, responsible and clean.
We live in a 3 bedroom, 1 bath turn of the century farmhouse on a vineyard. Built in 1910 the farm house was the original house on the property.
The room available is downstairs in a little used office. It has a comfy fold down double bed and desk space. It is private with its own entrance on the bottom floor with an outdoor sitting area (with wifi) and a private parking spot across the driveway in the non rainy months. Perfect for artist /writer/ or spiritual person who wants to retreat/ get away/wedding stay. Many a writer and healer has found peaceful reflection here.
Features of 'Om Bear Ranch' include; A 26 acre parcel of land (why we love it here) with large yard, vineyards, redwood trees and a winter creek (there is a nice walk through the trees), and often there are deer in the yard. Great retreat for quiet person who is contemplative or creative. Nice roads nearby to walk on. The tall redwood trees keep it cool, green and beautiful. There are few neighbors and we live is a primarily residential farming community. (Note: Om Bear is a working vineyard and the foreman for the vineyard and his family live on the same property, in another house. As such it can get dusty!) We rent the front house and have been here a long, long time (over 20 years).
It's simple and rustic here. House features; A cozy breakfast nook, propane stove, wood heat (w/ space heaters in bathroom and bedrooms) and a propane heater downstairs in the room you will stay in for the chilly nights to take the edge off. The living room is small but comfy, we have an antique propane stove for cooking, electric hot water kettle, vita mixer for smoothies and a shared fridge. We share the kitchen and bathroom. Just one bathroom with access through my healing room.
What were looking for: We like 'foodies' and all things organic, yummy, and shared. If I have time I home cook meals and if you contribute food and help out with cleaning you are welcome to join in. For the morning, we always have coffee, tea and creamer and eggs or oatmeal at no charge.
About us: Current inhabitants are Larry, an older male who is quiet, respectful and spiritual, and Heather who is an artist/ photographer/ Real Estate Agent, and a semi-wild beloved cat (but getting used to domestic life), Cosmic Dust.
A peaceful serenity awaits you up and up a long dirt driveway, located in country setting 4 miles from town. It's nice to stay for a few days and relax. You need a car to visit. Not public transportation.
While dinner is a social time, Heather is self employed and requests likes mornings. You will find her on her computer working. Larry also does his spiritual practices in the morning and is often occupied with them either outside or in his room. Please make yourself at home for your duration even if we are quiet. Thanks.
Utilities are included; wood, propane, stove, electricity,
Comcast high speed wireless internet, phone (if needed) for quick calls. note: limited cell phone service on rural route so we have a house phone you can use.
We sadly only spent one night with Heather and Larry - we wished we could have stayed a month! From the very first moment we met them, we felt as though they were forever friends. Both Larry and Heather are kind, peaceful, hospitable, intellectually curious and intelligent people, and we could have spent hours talking with them. Their farmhouse is dreamily beautiful and quiet, and we hope to stay with them again next time we're in the area. Thank you both for your hospitality and kindness!
My wife and I stayed and had a great time. The room is in a 100 (?) year old quaint farmhouse next to a vineyard maybe 10 minutes outside of downtown Sebastopol. Heather and Larry are delightful people genuinely interested in having their guests feel comfortable and welcome, and they did make us feel comfortable and welcome. They also offered great suggestions for a local bakery and restaurant. I would recommend.
I wish I had stayed at Heather's place, but we changed our weekend plan at the last minute and was not able to make it. But I still appreciate Heather's quick response to my inquiry and hope I will have a chance to stay at her place next time.
We booked a nights stay with Heather a few weeks out, she was very responsive and welcoming. Unfortunately something came up last minute and we could no longer make the trip. With about 24 hours notice, we contacted Heather and she responded right away and gave us a full refund. She didn’t have to give us a full refund, but did. We hopefully will one day be able to make it out to her beautiful home.
"Cosmic Dust"! All visitors should take care to be 'ware of the extra attention needed for attending to - or avoiding - Cosmic Dust - the cat.
Lovely to be near the redwoods and the quiet, thank you for putting us up.
Had a wonderful weekend stay with Heather and Larry! Despite requesting very last minute, they were able to accommodate us and we were delighted to find a very charming farm house in the middle of a vineyard/redwood forest. Heather also provided us great recommendations on sights/activities around town. Terrific people, clean and charming place. Highly recommended
Both Larry and Heather were great hosts. Their charming, cozy home surrounded by vineyards and redwoods was a wonderful place to spend the night. The house has great energy, which undoubtedly comes from the hosts and how they live. I had one of my best nights sleep in ages.
The evening I arrived, had an enjoyable discussion with Heather about our shared passion for photography, and in the morning both Larry and Heather were full of suggestions for places in the area to visit. I guess that is one of the great benefits of local knowledge. Their suggestion of stopping at the Wild Flour bakery in Freestone was very welcomed as I certainly would not have done that without their guidance and it helped start the next day off with a real treat. I would definitely stay again and hope to do so.
Quaint and nice-enough for a place to crash, the land and location are lovely and quiet, but if you are a neat-freak or into feng-shui you might not be totally comfortable here. Also apparently you cannot pet the cat as she attacks if you do, so we were told.
My first Air bnb experience with Heather and Larry was fine. I made the mistake of not reading ALL the house rules and or guidelines. I should have. I enjoyed the short night and also really enjoyed Larry's company and Very Nice presence. We shared a nice dinner and I helped cook and even brought wine (email hidden) I hope they enjoyed! The location is nice but better for a few day's and with a couple. I was by myself and for only one night it could have been a better choice for me. Very Nice people but again.. I should have read the House rules better! I hope to see Larry again and hear more about Heather's adventures!! Cheers, jakob
Great to meet you guys and very pleasant spot. I think that your other guests are right: you need to stay a few nights and enjoy more of the areas amenities. We were minutes away from Occidental and Sepastopol. Heather offered to bake us a crisp from the fresh fruit in the area. Thanks much and see you next time!
