Location of the apartments
The apartments are located at 141, VIA GREGORIO VII ("Via Gregorio Settimo"), in a lovely, small palace dating back to the 1930's. From the windows of our apartments you can see the spectacular Dome of St. Peter's. Via Gregorio VII runs alongside Vatican City. Just a short walk away (within minutes), you will find the world's smallest state.... Christianity's most sacred site.
The historical centre is about 1 km from Romahouse.
Several of the buses that stop right in front of Romahouse bring you towards Rome's most interesting sites within minutes (e.g. Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, etc.).
VIA GREGORIO VII is a beautiful, tree-lined street where you will find Romans and tourists alike. The neighbourhood boasts many conveniences: supermarkets and grocery shops, banks and drugstores, fine restaurants and fast food restaurants, and all kinds of retail stores.
Upon your arrival you will be offered a map of the area, filled with useful hints about how to get around.
A local market "at your front door", among real Romans!
Every morning a vibrant, open-air market makes Via Gregorio VII cheerful and lively. There, you will find various booths: fruits and vegetables, fresh fish and meats, breads and pastries, as well as street-vendors selling clothes and household items.
No parties or loud music

I loved Romahouse! Martin was fantastic, he was quick to reply to my emails and knowledgeable about the area and the city. The apartment was well equipped and clean, it had everything I needed for my one month stay.
The best part about Romahouse is the location. The fresh food market beside the apartment is convenient and gives you a taste Italian produce. The view of St. Peter's is great, there is nothing like waking up every morning and seeing the basilica. It’s within walking distance to several major sites and with train/bus stops right outside I was able to get anywhere in the city easily.
I also recommend taking advantage of the shuttle service that Martin provides. It was the easiest way to get to and from the airport.
I without hesitation recommend staying at Romahouse.
We really enjoyed our 5 week stay at Romahouse. We were in Rome for 6 weeks total, so we got to experience 2 other places, and Romahouse was our favourite by far. The apartment is simple, bright and spacious (minus the shower!...but it's just a typical Italian shower from what I can (email hidden)ean and functional but a little tight) and has everything you need for a great stay. The full kitchen was a great help to us, and we were able to have 1-2 meals at home every day.
Martin is a great host! Very helpful, left us with lots of information about the neighborhood (including a handy map we kept with us often). He was also super attentive to our needs, and as a young family, even provided us with a crib and highchair for our baby. He also knew that a good internet connection was very important to us, and always made sure the Wifi was working top-notch.
Would not hesitate to stay here again!
Highly recommended. No, it's not brand new and shiny, but everything is clean and works (e.g. heating takes just about five minutes to make the flat pleasently warm - bliss with the Roman humidity and chilly wind and just +5 degrees Celsius outside. The internet connection is very fast and reliable.). Another plus - little market round the corner with fresh fruit, vegies, fish, meat etc. and reasonably priced grocery shops nearby. The location is excellent - most Roman attractions are within walking distance, but there are also buses, which will take you to the centre within minutes, if you don't like walking. And the area feels very safe. Most importantly, Martin is a great host - immediately responds to any queries, provides helpful advice and is ready to solve any little problem that might arise (e.g. I asked him one evening if he had a reading lamp I could borrow - the light in the flat was far too dark for me - and when I got back from my stroll the next day, the lamp was waiting for me). And Martin carried my heavy suitcase up to the fourth floor without being asked :-)
San Pietro).
Good location, apartment was excellent, and Martin was a gracious host providing good information for seeing the sights around Rome.

Hi, I am Martin! I was born in Salzburg - Austria forty-three years ago. After a rather tranquil life as a teacher for music and math at a very nice place in the Austrian mountains I married my Roman girlfriend Daniela and an exciting life in the whorled capital of Italy started. Together we are managing our Romahouse holiday apartments now for nearly 14 years. It is a great experience to get known to so many different cultures from all over the world by renting apartments. This exploration of different custom and languages at work brings you sometimes a certain holiday feeling at home, too!
Thus we like to cook not only pizza and pasta at home... but also delicious food from Austria across Asia beyond America inspired by our guests.
In our holiday season we like to travel: Europe, Africa, Asia - sometimes cities but mostly we want to refresh our self in intact nature because this contrast from the daily "big city environment" is sometimes a necessary cure for our body and spirit.
Recreated back home in Rome again we are glad to
introduce our holiday experiences into our work.
