This gorgeous and intimate Guest House is located right at the beach in the gated community of Ocean Park, only 10 minutes away from the Historical Old San Juan and the airport.

The Dreamcatcher is thoughtfully decorated with mostly vintage furniture and collectibles. The house holds beauty and memories alike, every corner tells a story. The Dreamcatcher is a true oasis with many areas to find privacy as well as to come together with other guests and friends.

The common areas consist of a dining room, two lounging areas with rocking chairs and hammocks. A spacious living room that opens to the garden as well as a fully equipped Communal Kitchen. The garden is protected by dozens of Buddha’s, which quietly sit among the fruit trees, the water fountain and in between the flowers. In addition there is an edible garden in the front of the house with fruits, vegetables and herbs, where guests are welcome to help themselves.

Every room is decorated with a Dreamcatcher to protect your sleep and entice sweet dreams.

We have very loving and talented massage therapist that will come to the house.

There are some teachers that will come to teach yoga at night time and we gather around the lemon tree in the garden. Classes are subject to weather and will be posted on the easel in the lounge. All classes are by suggested donation.

Frequently we organize Salsa Classes at the House. Private Dance classes (various styles) can be arranged.

Few times a month dinner parties are planned, usually accompanied of local musicians, called bohemias. These are gatherings where street musicians come together to play latin classics.

We offer freshly pressed vegetable & fruit juices as well as home-grown kombucha for $8 a drink.

We are happy to do a load of laundry for you. Each load is $12.00.

The Neighborhood

This beautiful neighborhood of Ocean Park is one of the very few areas in San Juan where you find direct access to the beach without having High Rises surrounding you.

All in walking distance you have cozy cafes, amazing restaurants, fresh fruit stands, a yoga studio, a farmer’s market, grocery stores, boutiques, surf shops, hair- and beauty salons, only to name a few..

It is a very safe neighborhood and from our house it's only a 10 minute walk to Condado and Isla Verde, both highly touristic areas packed with even more restaurants, spas and shops. The Historical Old San Juan is a 10 minutes car ride and so is the airport.

Staying in Ocean Park, you will enjoy more of a local flair than a mass tourism experience. We at the Dreamcatcher Guest House have made a map of the area with our recommendations for your convenience.

  • We had a fantastic stay at the Dreamcatcher. Very clean and peaceful. And you can order some great snacks. It's only 5 minutes walk from the beach and some good places to eat. We will definitely be staying here again.

  • My friend and I adored staying at the Dreamcatcher. The decor is funky and welcoming and the hosts and other guests are friendly and open. Dario was cooking the night we were there and the smell of his food and of the happy guests enjoying the setting was really a pleasure. This is truly a magical place. Easy walk to the beach, easy check-in, and comfortable bed and a shower with good water pressure. Couldn't ask for more!
    Thank you Sylvia and Stephan!

  • To not be too wordy, I will break down my experience by pros and cons.

    - Safe neighborhood
    - Beach is just steps away
    - Walkable to just about anything you need
    - Quiet hours were acknowledged
    - Beautiful intricate designs throughout the house.

Cons: (In relation to our room "The French Laundry Room", not overall experience)
    - Room listing was changed after booking.
    - Were placed in an up-and-coming room.
    - Electrical issues with the bathroom light switch. Sylvia did tell us about the hazard as soon as we walked into the room and that an electrician would be in the next day to fix it. However, I mistakenly flipped the switch not remembering it was hazardous and was temporarily shocked. Unfortunately, we never received an update on if the electrician came by, so we chose to not even risk it. This led us to shower in the dark thereafter.
    - Didn't appear to be any hot water in our room.
    - We weren't made aware of construction going on, given Sylvia bought the house behind the Dreamcatcher property to expand.
This may not have affected the other rooms but our room was directly facing the construction.
    - Our private terrace was a work in progress, that wasn't really private at all given construction workers and caretakers cleaning and fixing things literally right outside our terrace door.

Overall, this property is beautiful, quiet, and location is perfect. It just appears as though we got stuck in the worst room. I'm sure once construction is over and the room is actually completed, it will be great.

  • Staying at the Dreamcatcher Guest House was a very beautiful experience. Sylvia really understands how to create a space that is inviting, warm, and relaxing. We originally booked the Moroccan Room but there was some confusion and we ended up staying in the French Laundry Room. This is a newer room, very quaint. The only drawback to the room is that there are no windows, but rather a large glass door. They were doing construction directly outside of our room so we had to keep the blinds closed most of the time, which meant we didn't get much sun in the room. The rest of the space however is an oasis. You can tell that Sylvia, and really everyone who contributes to the house, really care about cultivating a space with positive energy. Our trip would not have been the same without the kindness of everyone at the house. Thank you all <3

  • My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Dreamcatcher! Sylvia is a incredible host who goes out of her way to make people feel at home.

The house is amazing - authentic indoor/outdoor living in a beautiful beachfront neighborhood. Loved the surroundings, the beach (2 blocks away), the local restaurants and shopping just a few blocks away.

Felt very safe and enjoyed our visit immensely!! Loved hanging with Sylvia, her guests, and the dogs - and we had plenty of privacy in our room when we needed it.

We fell in love Ocean Park / San Juan and made new friends.. We will DEFINITELY be back to visit Sylvia!

  • We stayed at Sylvia's house for a week and it was very nice, it was 2 mins to the beach and very close to the bus stop too. (it takes about an hour to get to Old San Juan by bus). There are a lot of local less touristy places to eat at, which we enjoyed a lot. A supermarket is in walking distance so we cooked a couple nights and it was very convient. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that the house is very open so there were a lot of mosquitos, I wasn't really use to it so I had some problems, but Sylvia has bug spray in the house which helped a bit. Sylvia is very nice and helpful when it comes to question about PR or just a little chat. Overall it was wonderful and i would definitely recommend it!

  • I would highly recommend room 3 at dreamcatcher! From the minute I arrived to the minute I left I felt the place was magic. Sylvia has created something special in this house... I loved coming home in the evenings to the soft glow of the wraparound porch and the hammock in the room was a big plus for me. Sylvia is a warm, welcoming, and gracious host - always in tune with the needs of her guests. Next time I'm Puerto Rico I will definitely stay here again.

  • I cannot begin to explain how wonderful it was to stay at Dreamcatcher. There is a magic in the walls of Dreamcatcher that will last with me for a lifetime. We set out for Puerto Rico wanting Zen and a recharge. When I saw Sylvia's home on air bnb, it spoke to my soul. My boyfriend and I are not resort types, we prefer to feel like locals. Dreamcatcher house was perfect! Sylvia greeted us outside when we arrived. We came in with all of this anxious energy from our stressful jobs, stressful lives, etc., by the time we left, we were restored. We walked in to a candlelit dream. Incense was burning, and the birds were singing in the starlight. We put our things away and came out to greet Sylvia again. On the back patio, other guests and friends were taking an intimate Salsa lesson. Sylvia was conversing with friends. Everyone was very embracing and it felt like we belonged.

Sylvia has so much to enjoy within her home. Every corner of the house tells a story. Every nook and cranny is beautiful. She supplies bikes you can borrow, beach chairs, an edible garden, dance lessons, massages, an outdoor shower (to clean up from the beach) and yoga on-site. She will tell you the best places to eat, get a drink, and see local wildlife. The house is very clean and the perfect place for meditation and reading, as well as cocktails and conversation. The dogs are gorgeous and the most peaceful, well-behaved dogs I have ever come into contact with.

In the next few days, we easily walked to the beach and local restaurants, like Mango's (amazing meals), La B de Burro (street tacos and tequila) and Kamoli Kafe (Cafe, boutique). The third day, we rented a car and spent the next two days venturing out to Old San Juan and El Yunque to zip line. Sylvia was always kind, always helpful, and after four days, I consider her a good friend. We left heavy-hearted, making a promise to each other to return. We came back changed for the better. Dreamcatcher house has now become our place of peace, our words to each other on a stressful day... "Remember Puerto Rico, remember Dreamcatcher..."

  • If I could give 10 stars, I would! Sylvia's house is the ultimate spot to relax and enjoy the Caribbean lifestyle. For those who might be apprehensive about staying in a guest house/not staying in a chain hotel, trust when I say your fears will be unfounded. You won't get an experience like this at the Sheraton! And though it is priced comparably to a hostel, it is leaps and bounds beyond that, too. Privacy is not an issue because there is so much house! Even though I stayed there for a week, I felt like every day I was re-discovering the house every day because every nook and cranny had something -- vintage decorations, art, statuettes, hammocks, fresh flowers, candles, even a garden with fruits and veggies to pick! The pictures are quite accurate. Pippa and Malda are literally the best behaved dogs I've ever met. Neighborhood feels very safe and is only a block away from the beach and a block away from bus stop (to go toward Condado and Old San Juan, take the T5 or 53 on Calle Loiza). Ocean Park is laid back and away from the usual tourist spots (Condado, Isla Verde) but easy access to those areas too. Lots of restaurants nearby. Sylvia had some friends over and she made dinner and we learned how to salsa. Sylvia is like the older sister I always wanted....very thoughtful and personable but also gives you space if you want it. Sahar is also very sweet and helpful. We asked her where she got her loaf of bread, and instead she just gave us half of it! Beds are comfortable, neato outdoor shower, strong A/C unit. I literally can't say enough about my experience there. Just know that you won't be disappointed!

  • My boyfriend Pablo and I spent five nights in Sylvia's Bombay House. Where to begin? I suppose could start by mentioning the hostess' endless warmth, generosity, and commitment to beauty and excellence, to say nothing of her spectacular home! On our last night in San Juan we co-hosted a feast of sorts with Sylvia, she made two wonderful fruit salads and hibiscus tropical sangria, while we made Peruvian green herb sauce--with lemon balm and mint from the Dreamcatcher garden--over fried yucca, lechon pineapple fried rice, and a guava pineapple upside down cake. Sylvia's many fascinating friends and supremely talented musicians joined to perform Afro-Puerto Rican traditional music. All coalesced to make a night befitting of the island's moniker; the enchanted island, indeed. I will miss the Dreamcatcher, but most of all Sylvia, sorely. Until....

I have been working as an interior designer and movie set decorator for over 10 years and for a long time it has been on my 'TO DO' list to create a space that I can share in a more personal manner with people. During the time when I lived in New York City, Puerto Rico became the perfect spot for me to go on vacation and when I moved back to the island I created this space so you can enjoy a perfectly relaxing vacation in the Caribbean. The house is decorated with mostly vintage furniture that I have gotten from my grandmother, mother, friends and from past movie sets. The style is eclectic and fun, every corner tells a story and there are plenty of areas to enjoy privacy. It's been about two years since I started to share my home with visitors and friends and since then the space has grown in a beautiful organic manner. Every single visitor has been part of this process, leaving behind a memory and their beautiful energy as part of the many layers that create this home. A few months ago a wonderful visitor Stephan arrived at the house and a very beautiful friendship and journey started. Together we are now continuing and growing the Dreamcatcher Project and would like you to also be a part of it! We share the house with Pippa and Malda, two amazing golden retrievers that will receive you wagging their tails every time. We like to... EAT DO YOGA LAUGH COOK DANCE RIDE BIKES GO TO THE BEACH which is only a 1 minute from the house! ...and did we mention EATING? lol
