About this listing
Photo shows your view. Great location: 1 block from Mission District, SF’s hippest area. Walk 10 minutes to BART, ride 10 minutes downtown to cable cars & major sightseeing spots. Excellent public transportation everywhere in SF. Stay in a beautifully furnished 3-bedroom 1902 Victorian on a hillside in a safe, charming neighborhood with a village feel. Your large, sunny, quiet room has a stunning view of Twin Peaks. Complete privacy because you’re on your own floor of the house. Free breakfast.
It’s easy and inexpensive ($8.75) to get here from the BART station in SFO. I’ll pick you up at the 24th Street / Mission BART station and drive you home.
Your room has 2 beds: One full-size bed and a single futon to put on the floor.
If you and your traveling companion wish to sleep in separate rooms, I'll set up the futon in an adjoining bedroom for an additional $20 per night.
YOUR PRIVATE SPACE. Wake up to a spectacular view of Twin Peaks. (View photo taken from your room.) Watch fingers of fog creep this way over SF’s highest hill from the Pacific Ocean. Your view at night is a spectacle of thousands of twinkling city lights.
Just one block from, and looking toward, Mission St., your room is surprisingly quiet because the house is on a hillside and your room is perched on the top floor.
You’ll have complete privacy because you have the entire upper floor to yourself.
Your room is large (160 square feet; 15 square meters) and flooded with sunlight. It has a comfortable full-size bed. There’s a large dresser, bedside table, full-length mirror, and a desk & chair situated toward the view. Large closet. Excellent lighting for reading at the desk and in bed.
PLEASE NOTE: There is NO BATHROOM on your floor of the house. The only bathroom is on the first floor, down a steep flight of stairs. You share the bathroom with me.
THE COMMON AREAS include a tastefully furnished living room w a 50” HDTV; dining room w gas fireplace; a well equipped kitchen; and a beautiful private garden. You’ll find a large selection of cereals for breakfast. Help yourself to coffee, tea, and snacks (cookies, ice cream, etc.) any time.
You’ll have your own set of keys. Come and go as you wish at any time.
Interaction with guests
When you arrive, I’ll pick you up at the nearby BART station. If you like, I’ll open maps and explain the city and public transportation. I’ll tell you about points of interest and fun activities that only locals know about. You’re welcome to join me for conversation in the living room. Or you can have all the privacy you like in your room upstairs.
The house is on a brick cul-de-sac with very little traffic. One block up a hill from the Mission District (or “the Mission”), it’s located on the far western edge of Bernal Heights, a quiet, safe, neighborhood of single family homes.
The southern end of Valencia Street, the most gentrified and fun artery in the Mission, is one block away.
The Mission is a huge, lively, colorful, gritty area that for many decades has been largely populated by Spanish speaking immigrants. The Mission is changing, as young people who make good money in the booming tech industry move in.
The Castro, the center of gay life, is a 15-minute bus ride away.
BART is six blocks away. It takes 10 minutes to ride downtown to cable cars, Union Square, and other major tourist destinations. Seven MUNI lines (, and J) run within 4 blocks of my home. The Castro is 15 minutes away one the #24 bus. It’s easy to get anywhere from here. Many guests use Uber. Some rent bikes for their entire stay.
Other things to note
For 2 guests who want to sleep in separate rooms, I’ll put the futon on the floor of an adjoining sunny, quiet bedroom: add $20 per night. Please inquire about how to book.
The off-season minimum stay (October 16 - April 30) is 3 nights.
