About This Listing
A lovely apartment in the oldest and most central part of Amsterdam. Easy access to every highlight worth visiting, but also a nice place to relax on the couch or on the roof terrace. Did I mention there's a hammock? Now all you need is sunshine : )
Apartment in the heart of the old center of Amsterdam, next to the Nieuwmarkt square. It's clean, cozy, and comfortable. The perfect apartment for a couple and the location is the ideal starting point for any walk around town. The neighborhood is busy and lively, and never boring.
It contains a bedroom, a living room, a bathroom (with bath/shower), a kitchen, and a roof terrace.
The living room faces the street and is very lively, but the bedroom is nice and quiet, which is quite unique in this part of town. On the quiet (bedroom-)side of the apartment there's a roof terrace: feel free to use the hammock or the barbecue.
Every saturday there's a farmer's market on the square next to the apartment. This square is also perfect to have a beer in the sun, or maybe to visit one of the many Chinese massage places for a foot massage after a long day of walking.
Superfast Wireless Internet
Roofterrace + hammock + barbecue
Many kitchen supplies
Clean towels and bed linen
Walking distance to:
Central station: 10 minutes
Rembrandt House: 3 minutes
Dam Square: 3 minutes
Oude Kerk: 2 minutes
Anne Frank House: 15 minutes
Nieuwmarkt: On the right end of the street
Red Light District: On the left end of the street
Zeedijk (Chinese area): Around the corner.
Because of the central location parking here is difficult and expensive, I would not recommend this apartment if you bring a car. If you do bring your car, it would be much less expensive if you park it outside the city center.
Central station is at walking distance (10 minutes) and the Metro station (Nieuwmarkt) is one minute walking from the apartment.
Please no inquiries for more than two persons staying at the apartment.
- Smoking not allowed in the house, but outside on the terrace is no problem. My new neighbors don't appreciate the smell of marihuana/pot/hash, so please only smoke regular cigarettes on the roof terrace because it's important for me to maintain a good relationship with my neighbors.
- Noise on the roof terrace would not be appreciated after approximately 10/10.30 p.m.
- The wooden floor doesn't like water, please be careful with this.
- I don't have mice, but please don't tempt them by leaving food out, especially at night. You can store food in the cupboard or the fridge.
- Final houserule: Enjoy your holiday!
We had a lovely, friendly welcome with lots of local advice from Yvonne.
The apartment was great. It is good size, and we loved being able to use the balcony.
The location couldn't be better.
We'd definitely stay here again and highly recommend this accommodation.
Yvonne is a fantastic host. This is the second time we stayed in her lovely apartment and would highly recommend it to anyone. Great central location, beautiful rooftop deck and a great host!
Je vous recommande cet appartement idéalement situé.
Yvonne nous a donné de très bons plans pour visiter la ville mais aussi nous a réservé un bel accueil.
Yvonne's flat is fantastically central, being on a side street just 20 seconds away from Niewmarket. It has great character, with a large front front room above the street, a peaceful balcony & bedroom to the rear. There is also a supermarket right next door, which opens until late.
Communication from Yvonne was swift and accommodating. She was quick to confirm the availability of the flat and was also flexible regarding arrival/departure times. Yvonne struck the right balance of making us feel comfortable with the flat and leaving us to our own devices.
Would happily stay here again, thanks
Yvonne was there to meet my daughter and myself and gave us a tour of the apartment. She was so lovely, even offering to help us with our bags - we had many! She left some supplies for us for breakfast which we didn't expect, but it was a nice touch.
The apartment was very clean and she made us feel right at home. Everything worked well. The shower was good, great hot water and lovely clean towels.
The apartment is in a great location and one day, when my daughter was feeling under the weather, we were able to walk back and she could take a nap. The front room can be a bit loud at night, but it didn't disturb our sleep.
Yvonne was a wonderful host and we'd definitely stay there again.
Quick run through:
Location is perfect. 800 metres from the station between the red light Newmarket. No noise from the red light etc, but location means can easy walk to all central landmarks.
Yvonne was a great host. Gave loads of advice on places to go when we arrived and even greeted us with some lovely local biscuits.
The place is next to a supermarket so if on a budget you can get food and drinks in there and enjoy on the roof terrace. There are cheaper apartments than this, but the time saved by being central, and the money saved by being able to go back to the apartment for food without leaving the centre makes it a really good place to stay. Will definitely be staying here next time!
About the Host, Yvonne
I'm Yvonne, 27, from the Netherlands. I just finished studying in Italy for a year at the University of Gastronomic sciences and am very passionate about food. I can give you many restaurant/cocktailbar/brewbub recommendations. I cannot guarantee the weather, but I can definitely increase your chances of eating well (which can be a challenge in this city if you don't know your way around).
