About this listing
Open, sunlit, and cozy, this home is available for solo travelers couples with a couple kids (or not) Please find relaxing escapism in my 1880's old world home located in the middle of Crested Butte's historical downtown. My house sits only 2 blocks off of our main Street. Character abounds not only in this authentic and charming structure , but within it's 2 inhabitants , Kate ( me..a human & long term local~ artist~ social beast ) and Shackelton the CAT, who will be your hosts during your stay. My home is not remodeled and has it's un remodeled qualities and is my wee castle! ~ :)
Whether winter or summer, there is always plenty to do here in the mountains ~ I would revel in connecting you to the beautiful place I live and immersing you into local culture while introducing you to the local color.
"The King's Quarters" with a king sized bed as well as a small personal refrigerator for your own chilled items. There are a couple of cool and comfortable surfaces upon which to lay your head downstairs in the main room. (THE DAY BED AND THE DOOR ROOM WITH THE BLUE LIGHTS.***
There is only one bathroom with a tub / shower , which is lovely and light, so we'll be sharing that space, along with the main room and kitchen. (The Bedrooms are upstairs)
Wifi is free and FAST and there is a large TV used for only movies, so the lack of modern amenities leaves time for outdoor exploration, banter and reading~
My home is only steps away from the main street and the bus stop is across the street, making a loop to the mountain and around town quite easy. Off street, free parking , is on my property , which if snow cooperates, In winter...has a snow cave..another story entirely, which a couple of the photos show.
Light breakfast upon request~ There is always coffee, tea, and half & half.
If the dates you're interested in are not available, please write me a note anyway, as sometimes people have a change of plans, or I can point you to friends who are also now renting rooms via Airbnb.
For the musicians viewing this, I have a beautiful and in tune up right piano and a Yamaha guitar that I'm still trying to learn about, for you to have your way with~
One last detail that is important to mention is my steep stairs. Though the steps are not narrow, they are not suited for folks with injuries or disabilities.
NOTE~ Please no pets ( Shackelton will torture the hardiest of dogs ) and no smoking inside the house.
I look forward to meeting you and contributing to a most memorable visit to Crested Butte! Kate
When you stay at my place, the room and the main living area is all yours! I can be scarce or present, depending on what you prefer.
Interaction with Guests
We can hang out or I
can almost disappear.
My neighborhood is in the middle of the Crested Butte Historic district and is so easy to just walk 2 blocks to the main street. The whole town is my neighborhood and is filled w vibrant personalities and easy going folk who are nice to visitors.
The free bus stops right out front every 15 minutes. My room is the one next to the motor, so not to worry about that too much.
Other Things to Note
I often have a bottle of wine or a 6 pack waiting for incoming guests.
I request that everyone in the house respectfully keep noise at a minimum, in the event that anyone needs to sleep. I've stayed in an Amsterdam hostel with 16 snoring people, so I can sleep through most anything~ within reason :)
As there is only one bathroom, please be quick, or if you need time in the bath or with the Sunday times , please ask others if they have need of the facilities first.
I'll know more as things are revealed !!
The 'roo'm on the right is a grandma couch transformed into a private, cozy bed created with door walls, that suits kids to young adults , who are NOT tall. It's also great for movie viewing whether for one person or a couple!
Having grown up the youngest of 4 and having lived with room mates my entire adult life, I have maintained a solidly flexible nature, which may have been there to begin with? I enjoy surrounding myself with people , animals, and the outdoors. I love almost any dog who crosses my path and fancy myself a bit of a Dr Doolittle. The creative thread runs rampant in these veins which becomes quite evident in my art.
If I had to ask friends to write this piece,(which I'm doing right NOW) I suppose they'd say I am easy going and entertaining.
I try to be helpful and to connect people with people and with what they seek.
