The Space

Open, sunlit, and cozy, this home is available for solo travelers couples with a couple kids (or not) Please find relaxing escapism in my 1880's old world home located in the middle of Crested Butte's historical downtown.
Character abounds not only in this authentic and charming structure , but within it's 2 inhabitants , Kate ( me..a human & long term local~ artist ) and Shackelton the CAT, who will be your hosts during your stay. My home is not remodeled and has it's un remodeled qualities and is my wee castle! ~ :)
Whether winter or summer, there is always plenty to do here in the mountains ~ I would revel in connecting you to the beautiful place I live and immersing you into local culture while introducing you to the local color.
There is 1 large bedroom with a king sized bed as well as a couple of cool and comfortable surfaces upon which to lay your head downstairs in the main room. (THE DAY BED AND THE DOOR ROOM WITH THE BLUE LIGHTS)
I have a 2nd small bedroom as well, which has a full size bed and is for people to land while looking for a place to live or for extra guests in your party (photos to come)~ It is rented for $70/ night.
There is only one bathroom with a tub / shower , which is lovely and light, so we'll be sharing that space, along with the main room and kitchen. (The Master Bedroom is upstairs)
Wifi is free and FAST and there is a large TV used for only movies, so the lack of modern amenities leaves time for outdoor exploration, banter and reading~
My home is only steps away from the main street and the bus stop is across the street, making a loop to the mountain and around town quite easy. Off street parking , connects to my yard, which if snow cooperates, In winter...has a snow cave..another story entirely, which a couple of the photos show.
Light breakfast upon request~ There is always coffee, tea, and half & half.
If the dates you're interested in are not available, please write me a note anyway, as sometimes people have a change of plans, or I can point you to friends who are also now renting rooms via Airbnb.
One last detail that is important to mention is my steep stairs. Though the steps are not narrow, they are not suited for folks with injuries or disabilities.
NOTE~ Please no pets ( Shackelton will torture the hardiest of dogs ) and no smoking inside the house.
I look forward to meeting you and contributing to a most memorable visit to Crested Butte! Kate

  • Kate Seeley is a total delight and sets the scene for a genuinely wonderful old mining town experience. Her cozy and welcoming house, circa 1880, is artfully furnished with splendid period pieces and beautiful blending fabrics. Kate is warm-hearted and mirthful, generous and helpful, and is clearly beloved by her fellow Crested Butte citizens. I arrived late at night, weary after a long drive thru the rain, to find Kate waiting up for me, the house aglow in soft light. She cooked me a delicious omlette and poured me a big glass of wine. Unforgettable!!!

  • Unique experience of life in Crested Butte in a historical home with one of The Butte's most colorful characters. Kate's house is an artist's enclave with tons of color, collectibles and funky stuff.
In the heart of town with a steady flow of locals all around, this is a fun place for those who want to get a feel for the different world of Crested butte small mtn town good living.

  • I can't say enough great things about Kate's cozy little Crested Butte home! My friend Rachel and I stayed with Kate and enjoyed not only the room itself (with super comfy king-sized bed!), but also the eclectic feel of the whole house. It's in the perfect location, with a shuttle stop right outside the door (getting to the mountain to ski takes less than 10 minutes), and is only a couple of blocks from downtown, so walking/biking to restaurants and bars is a breeze. Kate is a warm and welcoming host, and genuinely wants her guests to enjoy her house and the town of Crested Butte as much as possible. She and her adorable cat Shackleton helped make our visit extra memorable. I would highly recommend this room for anyone, especially those who want to experience CB from a local's perspective! Enjoy!

  • Staying with Kate and her cat, Shackelton, was the perfect CB experience for us. The place itself is cool and quirky and in a excellent location. The bed is the most comfy ever! Kate is chilled out, really friendly, fun loving and passionate about people. Do not stay here if you are really regimented or conservative. This is a free spirited household. Be willing to share stories, laugh and learn about the community. This is the experience you get at Kate's. It was a really special experience for us on our honeymoon roadtrip. THANK YOU KATE xx

  • Kate is a super cool chick with an awesome diabetic cat. Her house is unique and very cozy. Beds are awesome, but the bathroom was our favorite part - she hosts a very earthy home all around. Two blocks off of the Main Street in CB makes for a super easy walk to restaurants, bars and shops. Overall, an awesome place to stay in Crested Butte. Thanks Kate!!

  • Kate is the bomb diggity! Her house was super cozy and comfy--we loved chatting with her and Shackleton (best cat ever). Her beautiful old home is in the PERFECT location in Crested Butte--walk to all of the shops and restaurants on Elk! Our room was beautiful, bright, cheerful and warm. Kate made sure we had everything we needed and kept me smiling the whole trip! Stay with Kate! And support her amazing artwork!!

  • Kate is the most gracious of hosts! I loved her eclectic home and artsy way of life. She certainly has her finger on the pulse of the local community. Her adorable kitty Shackleton was a welcome bonus to my stay and slept with me thru part of the night, just like my own cats at home tend to do!
Kate is deeply involved in the local artist community and pointed me towards a super cool wall hanging which I bought and can't wait to see it when I get home!
Kate will make anyone's stay fun, comfy and most memorable....Thank you Kate!!!!

Having grown up the youngest of 4 and having lived with room mates my entire adult life, I have maintained a solidly flexible nature, which may have been there to begin with? I enjoy surrounding myself with people , animals, and the outdoors. I love almost any dog who crosses my path and fancy myself a bit of a Dr Doolittle. The creative thread runs rampant in these veins which becomes quite evident in my art. If I had to ask friends to write this piece,(which I'm doing right NOW) I suppose they'd say I am easy going and entertaining. I try to be helpful and to connect people with people and with what they seek.
