The apartment, recently renovated, is on the fourth (last) floor (no elevator) in a building from the 15th century. It is approximately 180 sqm big, has four comfortable bedrooms, two of which overlook the main street. The master bedroom has a bathroom with shower, while the second bathroom is located in the corridor, it also has a shower. The long corridor connects the bedroom to the kitchen/living room. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed to prepare delicious meals. The apartment can accommodate up to 8 people, it is suitable for families or groups of friends. Its central location and the atmosphere of the famous Campo de' Fiori will make your stay unique and memorable.
Located in one of the most famous and historic streets of Rome, Via de Giubbonari, the street connecting the old Jewish Ghetto and the famous Campo de' Fiori. The name of the street comes from the presence on it of workshops for craftsmen and shops selling more or less valuable so-called bodices of cloth. The artisans and vendors were called gipponari, in Latin jupponarii, this is actually the profession where the name of the street derives from. In our days, along the street, the visitors can find a high variety of shops, ovens for bread, pastries, including the famous pastry bar "Bernasconi" located right next to the entrance of the apartment.
Perfect location. 100 yards from Piaza Fiori where you'll find dining, drinking, etc. Grocery store about 200 yards away. The apartment was quite spacious and well appointed. A couple of things to be aware of:
1. 72 steps up from street level. Not too big of an issue once you get your luggage up there, but you'll do those same steps each time you come and go from the apartment.
2. We were there in August with 90+ degree days. Air conditioning did good job for 3 of the bedrooms, but the kitchen and 4th bedroom were not terribly comfortable. I suspect that there'd be no problem other than July and August.
We had a fantastic time at the apartment. It is very central located closed to everything we wanted to visit, market, shops etc. Very spacious and well organized 4 bedrooms with plenty of other lounge / kitchen area. We would definitely go back for a second visit.
The location of the apartment makes it the ideal place to visit Rome by foot, which is great, and there is nice documentation in the kitchen with good advice and addresses.
The apartment itself (which you reach after climbing quite a number of steps) is really composed of two former apartments put together, so that you actually have one room (with a nice balcony), with a large bathroom (+ toilets) and a kitchen (+ a small terrace) at one end; and three other bedrooms (two of which are overlooking a very noisy street) with a small bathroom (+ toilets too) and a small "waiting room" (kind of) at the other end of a Very long corridor.
Though the place has been redecorated recently (you can tell), some walls or wall papers are damaged and some things need definite improvement : the kitchen window is sealed by brown scotch tape ! showing a 5 millimeter gap between both panes ! !), there are two fridges but one is unusable and the second creates so much condensation it is hard to keep fresh food fresh for long, the beds are squeaky (two of them particularly so), the shutters of one of the rooms are stuck (so you cannot have them fully meet one each other), not all the light bulbs work, and the cleanliness of the place is good, (if you are not too picky on the subject).
(+ do not be surprised if you see ants in the kitchen - as we did - the repellent spray under the sink seems to indicate that they must be frequent guests, but there is not much to be done about this).
Anyway, this was just because we were quite surprised by some of this and wanted to let other potential renters know.
This be said, we would definitely book this place again if we ever came back to Rome because
1. it is spacious (there were 7 of us, 4 adults and 3 children), and we did not feel cramped at all.
2. the people from Rent in Rome were extremely nice before and during our stay
3. it is really ideally located to visit Rome and the Vatican City.
4.the street itself and its environment (Campo Di Fiori) are awesome. It is a great pleasure to walk back home to it after a day's visit or talk an evening walk in this animated area.
