About This Listing
The Dreamcatcher is a Guest House located just 100 meters from the beach. We offer on-site yoga classes, vegetarian breakfast and free Wi-Fi. The house features a Communal Kitchen, a large Terrace and a Buddha Garden. All rooms are air-conditioned.
Sleeps up to FOUR | Private Bathroom
This is our biggest room, decorated with an Asian vintage motif. Pastel colors, Japanese panels on the walls, soft lighting and antique oriental artwork.
The Quadruple Suite has two comfortable double beds, two closets and a hanging chair. The private bathroom is extra large and comes with a bathtub. The room sleeps 4 people.
This Suite is fully air conditioned and comes with a hairdryer, iron, bath and beach towels as well a large picnic blanket, which can be used for the beach. The room also has a dream catcher, to protect your sleep and entice sweet dreams.
This gorgeous and intimate Guest House is located right at the beach in the gated community of Ocean Park, only 10 minutes away from the Historical Old San Juan and the airport.
The Dreamcatcher is thoughtfully decorated with mostly vintage furniture and collectibles. The house holds beauty and memories alike, every corner tells a story. The Dreamcatcher is a true oasis with many areas to find privacy as well as to come together with other guests and friends.
The common areas consist of a dining room, two lounging areas with rocking chairs and hammocks. A spacious living room that opens to the garden as well as a fully equipped Communal Kitchen. The garden is protected by dozens of Buddha’s, which quietly sit among the fruit trees, the water fountain and in between the flowers. In addition there is an edible garden in the front of the house with fruits, vegetables and herbs, where guests are welcome to help themselves.
Every room is decorated with a Dreamcatcher to protect your sleep and entice sweet dreams.
This beautiful neighborhood of Ocean Park is one of the very few areas in San Juan where you find direct access to the beach without having High Rises surrounding you.
All in walking distance you have cozy cafes, amazing restaurants, fresh fruit stands, a yoga studio, a farmer’s market, grocery stores, boutiques, surf shops, hair- and beauty salons, only to name a few..
It is a very safe neighborhood and from our house it's only a 10-minute walk to Condado and Isla Verde, both highly touristic areas packed with even more restaurants, spas and shops. The Historical Old San Juan is a 10 minutes car ride and so is the airport.
Staying in Ocean Park, you will enjoy more of a local flair than a mass tourism experience. We at the Dreamcatcher Guest House have made a map of the area with our recommendations for your convenience.
We have very loving and talented massage therapist that will come to the house.
There are some teachers that will come to teach yoga at night time and we gather around the lemon tree in the garden. Classes are subject to weather and will be posted on the easel in the lounge. All classes are by suggested donation.
Frequently we organize Salsa Classes at the House. Private Dance classes (various styles) can be arranged.
Few times a month dinner parties are planned, usually accompanied of local musicians, called bohemias. These are gatherings where street musicians come together to play latin classics.
KOMBUCHA & JUICING
We offer freshly pressed vegetable & fruit juices as well as home-grown kombucha for $8 a drink.
We are happy to do a load of laundry for you. Each load is $12.00.
We are two dogs and a human. I am Pippa, a 9-year-old golden retriever from the Culebra Island. My brother’s name is Malda; he is from Caguas, a city right on the outskirt of San Juan. Malda is 7 but he is very immature, people think he is still a puppy, he is very well behaved though….at least he tries. Then there is Sylvia, who is from San Juan. She is the one who put this amazing guesthouse together. Malda and I love living here, so many wonderful people come to stay at the Dreamcatcher house! Sylvia has put a lot of love into creating a peaceful place for friends and travelers. We have been doing this since April 2012 and we are getting pretty good at it! We are looking forward to meet and spend some time with you.
First of all we want to say that we are very happy to host and assist you in anything you might need.
Pippa and Malda are very well behaved dogs, they love people and they want to love you and get loved in return. We understand that not everyone is comfortable with dogs, if you need space from them, you can tell them, just speak to them clearly or come and speak with us.
Please DO NOT feed them as they will try to manipulate you in many different ways, but do not give in to their charms, to their sad eyes, or pretty faces. They have their food and we do not want beggar dogs around the house. The dogs are not just in the house to serve as companions, they also protect us, they will bark on occasion if there is commotion, or a stranger at the door. Please excuse any late night barking, just know it keeps everyone safe.
10pm – 8am
Please take a note where all the rooms are located so you can be mindful of not creating any noise near them.
BOOKS AT THE DREAMCATCHER
All the books in the house are for everyone to enjoy, please do not take them with you. Some of these books have been in our family for years and are precious memories. If there is one particular book you really like, talk to Sylvia regarding a possible Book Exchange :)
Things break, it is okay. Just let us know, we promise not to be upset.
The products in the communal showers are not communal, please bring your own. We have soap for you in the room.
HELP US TO KEEP THE HOUSE CLEAN
SAND=THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE
It is hard to keep the sand out. We clean everyday so everyone can enjoy a clean house. We beg you to clear off the sand in the outdoor shower before you come in. Do not bring sandy towels in, there is a rack near the kitchen for drying beach towels. You can shake them in the grass to get the excess sand off. Please do whatever you can to keep the sand on the Beach and not in the house.
Please note that if you leave anything drying on the rack overnight, it will get wet, as it rains almost every night.
Coffee and Tee is on us.
There are spices and seasonings, oils and dressings for everyone to use and you are also welcome to add to the shelves, it’s good karma, especially if it is olive oil :O)
We keep our kitchen Pescetarian: MEAT=NO! FISH=OK!
If you however feel like having meat you can prepare your meal on our BBQ grill in the garden. I know this is obvious, but please do your dishes….and also once they are dry, put them away. The fridge….there are shelves for each room. I you don't want your food to be eaten by other guests, please store your things in the shelf assigned to you. If you spill it, clean it.
Before you leave, please throw away what you did not use and make space for the people that arrive after you. If there is something you want to leave behind for other guests, let us know and we will take care of it. Another point for your good karma!
Sylvia and Stephan exceeded our expectations as per their reputation. Stephan met me at the curb to explain the details of parking in the area. It worked out fine. An extra bed was delivered to our room within minutes of request. The place is both absolutely beautiful and extremely functional. It is hard to find places that offer both so well. The recommendations for a local Mexican Restaurant within a short walk worked out splendidly. They have a wealth of information at their fingertips. I am already looking forward to my return.
This was a very pleasant experience, nothing that you can experience from a traditional hotel. It was a very intimate environment. The decor was amazing both outdoor and indoor. The staff was friendly and the salsa instructor was fun and welcoming. I would definitely recommend it.
The guesthouse is a perfect oasis after a long day of touring around the city. We loved how well the house integrated with nature, from the outdoor kitchen to the lush gardens. It's a feast for the senses :) There were issues with the room we originally booked, so they switched us to Sylvia's room. It is as beautifully curated as the rest of the guest rooms, and felt like home after only 4 days. The location is perfect as well, steps away from Ocean Park beach and the funky Santurce area. I will definitely recommend the Dreamcatcher to anyone traveling to San Juan in the future.
We stayed at the Dream Catcher House on the last day of our vacation and it was my biggest regret that we did not stay longer! The place was absolutely amazing and the hosts were very imformative and accomodating! We stayed in the Geisha room which was beautiful and spacious. The location could not be beat; very close to a nice beach, local food, and culture. Because it was our last day, with a very early flight, we did not take part in the various offerings (massage, yoga, and cooking in the beautiful kitchen), but on my next stay in Puerto Rico I would love to come back and stay at the Dream Catcher House and really experience it.
Our stay was literally a dream come true. My three girlfriends and I had the most relaxing time here, the space and decor are so inspiring and the atmosphere is peaceful and laid back. Sylvia was so accommodating and we felt very comfortable coming and going or just relaxing on the property. Can't recommend this place enough, we will be back for sure.

About the Host, Sylvia And Stephan
I have been working as an interior designer and movie set decorator for over 10 years and for a long time it has been on my 'TO DO' list to create a space that I can share in a more personal manner with people. During the time when I lived in New York City, Puerto Rico became the perfect spot for me to go on vacation and when I moved back to the island I created this space so you can enjoy a perfectly relaxing vacation in the Caribbean.
The house is decorated with mostly vintage furniture that I have gotten from my grandmother, mother, friends and from past movie sets. The style is eclectic and fun, every corner tells a story and there are plenty of areas to enjoy privacy.
It's been about two years since I started to share my home with visitors and friends and since then the space has grown in a beautiful organic manner. Every single visitor has been part of this process, leaving behind a memory and their beautiful energy as part of the many layers that create this home.
A few months ago a wonderful visitor Stephan arrived at the house and a very beautiful friendship and journey started. Together we are now continuing and growing the Dreamcatcher Project and would like you to also be a part of it!
We share the house with Pippa and Malda, two amazing golden retrievers that will receive you wagging their tails every time.
We like to...
GO TO THE BEACH which is only a 1 minute from the house!
...and did we mention EATING? lol
