AND THE WHOLE STORY...
The apartment is brand new and beautiful. Less than 10 mins walk from Ostbahnhof International station (all the airport trains stop here first, so you don't have to change to the metro or bus with your luggage) and slap in the middle of Alexanderplatz (where the city centre begins) and Friedrichshain, Berlin's most happening neighbourhood, with tons of restaurants and delicious food. Name a country and it's here, with super cheap prices.
Whatever your age and whether you want to go sightseeing, dancing (Berghain is just around the corner), wandering or simply hang out in cool cafes and markets, the best of the capital is all around us.
The apartment is on three levels with a lovely double height living room and open plan kitchen on the middle floor. It's absolutely flooded with light and there's a HUGE ROOF TERRACE with a great view over the East, loads of sky and a dining table for 8. There are two excellent bathrooms, each with a shower, and a little chill out zone on the mezzanine.
Our MODERN/RETRO FURNITURE is fun and colourful and has been merged from our old London and Amsterdam homes, and added to with some snazzy bits from Berlin. We absolutely LOVE this city. Come and join us!
You get a nice double room with bed, wardrobe and a few things to make it home. Plus a little desk for those essential laptop moments. All towels and bedding supplied.
We have two bedrooms available (check our other listings for the second room) so if you want to come in a group of up to 4 people, we have the space. And if you take just one room, you might make friends with our other guests. It's happened many times.
BREAKFAST: You can just wake up when you want, and take what you want from the stock of juices, bread, preserves, cereals and tasty German charcuterie. Help yourself to tea and coffee whenever you like.
ABOUT US: we're a sociable and open minded couple. We enjoy travelling, and being at home. We love walking, discovering and (possibly more than anything), EATING! Paul works from home as a freelance writer and Patrik studies Classics at the Humbolt University. We're generally up for a chat or giving you some advice, and you can have as much privacy or interaction as you want.
We're pretty easy going, but here are the few rules we have:
1) Enjoy your stay and feel free to ask any questions
2) Smoke on the roof terrace, not secretly in your room with the door closed. We want the room to be welcoming to everyone whether they smoke or not, which means it needs to smell fresh.
3) Wash up after yourself and put any dirties in the dishwasher at night so the kitchen is clear for everyone in the morning
4) Turn off the lights behind you.
5) Respect our neighbours - and us - as you would have us respect you :-)
Paul and Patrik thank you!
I am so greatful I found your place! My son and I had a great time in Berlin and your apartment was wonderful. A little note, the instruction manual is a true gem and short yet informative, literary masterpiece.
There are so many wonderful design details to be explored, leaving the IKEA glasses out of the picture..
Fantastic location, great hosts, beautiful apartment.
Peter and Patrik where wonderful hosts. They were extremely helpful from the moment I made the booking. Directions on how to get from the airport to the apartment were extremely detailed, which was fantastic. Peter and Patrik are away at thee moment so lovely Biunca was the host for the duration of the stay. Sadly though the lift was not working, which we were not aware about. So I had difficulty carrying my suitcase up quite a numerous flight of stairs and for the duration of our stay, the lift didnt work. The apartment is stunning, exactly like the photos, its spacious, comfortable and homely - exactly what you want. There is a little black book which has a locals guide to sightseeing, transport, places to eat etc which was extremely useful! My friend and I ate at a few of their recommendations and they were all fantastic. Biunca was very welcoming and happy to help with any questions we had. On the second day a couple checked into the downstairs bedroom, we weren't aware we were sharing the home with other guests. Most of the time it was not a problem, however we did find it difficult/awkward when we both wanted to use the kitchen/lounge room at the same time.
All in all my friend and I highly recommend this apartment! Its in a great location, beautiful home, close to transport, comfy bed and attentive hosts. Thanks for having us Peter and Patrik xo
Our experience at Paul and Patrik's place was great. Unfortunately we did not get to meet them, but they were always available via messaging if we had any questions. They also had a friend staying at their place who welcomed us very warmly with a beer and conversation. The place looks exactly as in the pictures and the neighborhood is very central and offers a lot of possibilities. Especially the recommendations Paul and Patrik put together in their little booklet were very helpful. Thanks for a great first airbnb experience!
Our time at this listing was great. It's about a 5 minute walk from the train station, and half a block from Karl Marx Allee. The best part about this listing is it's proximity to some of the most interesting parts of East Berlin -- Krutzberg, Friedrichshain, Alexanderplatz, Mitte. It's not right in the middle of the action, but it's central to a lot of it. The hosts were extremely nice and helpful, the place was very comfortable, and they even provided free breakfast supplies. We also realized that around the block there's a book store that's featured in a movie about East Berlin, "The Lives of Others"!
The penthouse is amazing. Really beautiful space with awesome decor! Our room was really nice and our bed was so comfortable. The location is great. Really convenient if you are arriving by train, the apartment is very close to one of the main s-bahn stops.
We didn't get to meet Paul and Patrik, but they were so helpful before we arrived, giving us tips on how to travel to Berlin from Prague. They provided their own guidebook of Berlin in our room (Thanks for the restaurant recommendations! We loved Lemongrass. :) ) and their kitchen is stocked with breakfast goodies and great local beer (at a small cost for the beer).
Paul & Patrik's friends, Sarah and Dominic, were our hosts during our stay. They were wonderful hosts. Really friendly and helpful. Overall great hospitality!
I stayed at this home for two nights and it was great. Their friends were so kind and sweet. And of course the home was so clean and cozy. If I go Berlin again, definitely would like to stay here again :) Thank you so much!!

I am a very happy and enthusiastic Ancient Greek and Latin student and teacher. I've been living together with my boyfriend Paul for about a year now and at the end of July 2012 we moved over to Berlin.
I am originally half German and half Dutch and Paul is native English. So our house is quite international. :-) We love to cook and make some very delicious meals. We definitely want you to try some of them.
We can help you finding your way in Berlin and we can suggest nice things to do. Our main goal is to make you feel as if you are home.
So what are you still waiting for? Feel free to accompany us and have an unforgettable trip to Berlin. :-)
