Beautiful sunny furnished room in lovely, elegantly restored Victorian townhouse in a very desirable location 6 blocks from MIT and Harvard. THIS PROPERTY IS NOT AN APARTMENT, IT IS A TOWNHOUSE.
Quiet street, 1 block to Central T. The house is in a vibrant area with lots of cool pubs, restaurants, bookstores, art galleries, grocery stores, banks, etc, but on a very quiet side street, so it offers the best of all worlds.

Make sure you read all the reviews. While I can say the room / house / neighborhood was charming. The bathroom was absolutely gross with moldy shower curtains and grime. I left a day earlier as I couldn't stand to use that bathroom one more time.
We went to airbnb after we were scammed by a 3rd party hotel chain. We were very impressed by this place and the location it was in!
The room was in great shape when we got there and had no issues with the house, whatsoever. If anyone is interested in going to Cambridge and wanting some privacy, this is exactly what you want.
We were undisturbed during our whole stay and we appreciated the unhosted building. It really provided a place to just go back to and be alone.
The ONLY issue was parking. When we arrived, we were hoping there would be some on-street parking available to us to park for the whole weekend, however, because I come from a rural part of the state, I was surprised that were was none. Frustrated, we spent about 45 minutes driving around looking for parking until we found the Green Street Garage.
You're only viable parking will be the Green Street Garage. All other spots are metered or private parking only.
If you want to stay in Cambridge, this is a great location near the main street with bar and restaurants, and subway system. Room was large and looked like the pictures online, thought it was dated. It's room only (i.e. no access to apartment facilities like kitchen or living room) but this wasn't an issue for us and we know about this in advance as John makes this clear. The access to the room was very convenient for us through the code system used. The bathroom was shared and this in itself wasn't a issue. However the bathroom had an annoying shower curtain all the way around to try and prevent leaks but made adjusting the shower inconvenient and detracted from our experience some what.
This location is great! Close to everything, and easily accessible to the "T" as well as one of Boston's new and cool bike-share stations!
John was helpfully responsive every step of the way as we prepared for our trip, and I was delighted to find a well-lit, cozy room in a cool multi-floor home at the end of a long airplane flight... It also had great morning light through the windows... And courteous neighbors!
Great experience! I would stay here again! :-)
So my friend and I had never been to Boston so we decided to make it a weekend trip just to check out the city! When we decided to go we bought our flights first and then looked into hotel prices. Never having been to Boston we were shocked at the hotel prices! Neither of us had ever used airBnB, so we came in with an open mind just because the price was unbeatable! BEST DESCION EVER! Great location and easy access to the red line that gets you to downtown in 10 min. Walkable distance to Harvard, the room was clean, and both of us being girls we definitely felt very very secure! Definitely recommend this place!
We had a lovely couple of nights in John's room. It was clean, quiet and provided a really comfy bed! Thank you so much!
My room was clean and comfortable, and the location is excellent, right between downtown and Harvard Square. The hosts responded quickly to any questions I had. The facilities were all good--I'd stay here again.
Very good! Thank you, Charles
Lovely room. Great Cambridge location. Bathrooms not the cleanest but not dirty either. Very comfy bed. Code access to the house & rooms was very handy!
I was not happy with the accommodations for the money that I paid for the bedroom. The accommodations were spartan so don't expect any amenities. Bring your own soap, shampoo and hair dryer. The place needs a lot of cleaning and updating. The pictures on this site were not accurate and were probably old and dated. The bedroom and bathroom were not clean. The ceiling above the shower was cracked with a hole in it. The lock to the bathroom jammed on several occasions. The bed sheet were not clean and the towels were old and worn out.
The owner John was attentive and tried to remedy the issues that presented to him. But I think he should have cleaned and renovated the rooms before renting them Many strangers come through his house so you must keep the bedroom door locked at all times. At night, the house can be dim and creepy. For the same price, I should have stayed in a hotel instead. Caveat Emptor.
