This house is spectacular. Everything u could need is provided. The view is unbelievable and the sunset is the best I've ever seen.
We certainly plan to visit Russell again, and when we do, we want to stay here!!!
Clive was easy to communicate with and he went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The house is well-appointed for a holiday stay and has possibly the best location on the planet...!
We loved that there were a dinghy and sit-on-top kayaks available for us to explore the point, and the beach was very beautiful and not at all overrun. The historic flagstaff was more interesting than some in our party expected, and the history, scenery, and restaurants in the town of Russell made this one of our favorite stays during our three-week romp throughout NZ, and it's on our "definite" list for when we go again.
For someone who's a bit more clever with technology than we are, there is a great entertainment system, including speakers on the verandah, surround sound, etc. The kitchen was more than adequate for some very nice cooking. We enjoyed that there were DVDs available to us when we were feeling lazy one evening. Having laundry facilities was great. Our large party of seven was very comfortable here, and that's without using the bonus room above the garage.
Favorite moments: plodging around on the beach (yes, even in July!), lunch on the beautiful deck, rowing and paddling out to the point, exploring the churchyard in Russell, family dinner at Diggers (at the RSA) and a more intimate meal at The Gables, great local oysters and mussels, visiting historical sites in the neighborhood...even the weather was perfect during our stay!
This is not one of those "if I'm ever going there again, I'd stay at this property" reviews. This is an "I will make a point to go there again and I'll be sure to stay at this property" review. :-)

About the Host, Clive
We have been at Tapeka since 2000. The beach house is presented with international visitors in mind with all linen, towels, beach towels, Internet, cleaning etc provided. Our intention is to make this your home away from home and a base to explore the many attractions the Bay of islands and the Northland region of New Zealand has to offer. This is also an opportunity to experience the Kiwi beach Bach (beach vacation home) lifestyle in true style. Being in the "winterless North", May - October can still produce perfect warm sunny days with lots of indoor and outdoor activity options. Relax and watch the parade of passing boats, take a swim with the Dolphins trip or a day sail on a classic tall ship. Immerse yourself in New Zealand's early history. Go fishing or play golf at a world top 100 course. You will not be disappointed
