About this listing
Just in time for ACL and Formula One 2015, my newly remodeled house offers four bedrooms and three baths to kick back in and relax after a day at the races or ACL Music Festival. The Barton Hills neighborhood is quiet and beautiful and near downtown.
4 Br, 3 Bath 1950s home in 78704 south central Austin, Texas near Zilker Park and Barton Springs. Perfect for ACL, SXSW, Formula One etc.. Or if you want a room longer to share with the homeowner, I got that too - fully furnished for $750 per month. Cable TV, wireless internet, hot tub, covered porch with ceiling fans and speakers and a Webber gas grill. Must like dogs. I can be a great host if I am available.
Please note: During the big events, SWSX, ACL, Formula One, (please notice the price increase to $800 per night for the whole house) if I am available I can drive you to spots, however; most things are within walking distance - 24-hour restaurant and Walgreens, gas station, shops, the famous Broken Spoke country dance hall with live music every night except Sun-Mon and even a Capital Metro city bus two blocks away on South Lamar that can take you downtown four miles away. Barton Springs pool and the 14-mile hike and bike green belt are both in the neighborhood.
I do have two dogs but they have their own doggie door and constant water supply. They will go with me if I decide to go stay elsewhere.
I have an 19-year-old son who lives with me off and on.
I am an active 50-year woman who plays volleyball twice a week and works as a TV Producer for Texas Parks and Wildlife. I like meeting new people and cooking, hanging out on the back porch and watching the birds and sipping beer under the ceiling fans. I have had one roommate from China for two years and one triathlete who wanted to train in the neighborhood by running up the hills for as little as four months - competition called.
NO SMOKERS PLEASE!
Hot tub; Wifi Internet; Grill, large covered back porch; garden
Interaction with Guests
As little or as much as they want.
It's quiet and beautiful and close to many restaurants and downtown, Barton Springs, the greenbelt and the hike and bike trail.
There is a public bus stop just two blocks away by Walgreens that takes you downtown.
Other Things to Note
I just remodeled my home and excited to share with others.
Just treat my home like you were visiting your fiance's parents and all should be fine. Maybe that's too scarey. Please be respectful of my neighbors when it comes to noise, many have children or are elderly. Thanks! NO SMOKERS PLEASE!
Karen is an amazing host and the place is great ! Thank you Karen !
Karen was a wonderful host, everyone was very nice and made me feel very welcomed. It was a convenient location, close to where I worked with plenty of places to go do things and grab groceries. It was my first time using Airbnb and she made it a great experience.
Karen's home is a great place to stay on the quieter side of Austin! The neighborhood is super convienient to all the Austin hotspots (Zilker, SoCo, downtown, town lake, etc). On top of that, everyone in the house made me feel like family, butalso gave me the privacy I wanted sometimes too. I would definitely stay here again and am happy to have made some friends along the way too! Thanks Karen!
I had a good summer here. The hosts cared about me and gave me a lot of help. It was quiet for most of the time. The house is generally clean, and all the equipment was available to me.
Karen is an amazing host, very helpful and accommodating. It is easy to make friends with Karen. The location is very green, beautiful and central. Having to get around everywhere on my bicycle, the location was perfect. Karen will definitely be the first person I'll ping when I'm back in Austin!
Staying in Karen's place has been one of my best airbnb experiences so far. She is such a great host, you easily forget that you are a guest there. :) She is open hearted, so generous and nice. Also a perfect guide for those who are new to Austin.
In terms of location, Karen's place is so convenient even for people without car. There are a lot of buses to downtown and if you don't mind walking for 10-15 mins you can find cool restaurants close by.
I feel fortunate to know Karen and I'd definitely recommend her place.
We could not asked for a better host or a nicer place to stay!!!! Karen was such a great host that we decided to come back for one extra night! There was hot coffee in the morning and a hot tub in the afternoons--what more could you need? Her house felt like home immediately, and we got to meet her son, mom, and three cute dogs. It's right near one of the best places to go out (the Broken Spoke) and our favorite brunch spot (Kirbey Lane). This airbnb experience was above and beyond any other, we were so lucky to book this place!
