The Space

Cozy close-in duplex with bamboo floors, lots of morning light and close to many of Portland's hip bars, restaurants. Located in a neighborhood that is close to Alberta, Mississippi and the Vancouver-Williams corridor.

This cozy 2 bedroom duplex apartment is located only 8 blocks from the Alberta Arts District known for its famous "Last Thursday" and artsy shops. It's only 6 blocks to the Vancouver-William's corridor, with great restaurants (including the renowned Tasty n Sons), cafe's and shops. Walk a little further (13 blocks) to Mississippi St., to experience Portland's food carts, take in some live music at Mississippi Studio's or enjoy some authentic German beer at Prost.

We are located just 2 blocks from a school park where the King's Farmers Market is held every Sunday during the summer. Located just 1 block from the #6 Trimet bus to downtown. The #6 also connects with the Max light rails at the Convention Center.

There is one room for rent that can accommodate 1-2 people that has a queen size futon, a desk, a small dresser and closet (can make space if needed).

You are welcome to enjoy the common areas of the house including the living/dining room, kitchen, and fenced in backyard. There is only 1 bathroom so you will be sharing that with us during your stay and we have a spot for your toiletries if need be.

The kitchen is on the smaller side but has all the amenities including a full size fridge, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and grinder.

Enjoy your morning coffee while sitting on the front brick patio or BBQ on the grill in the private fenced in back yard.

We do have a small terrier mix named Pete so we do ask that you are a dog lover or at least dog liker. He is non-shedding, hypoallergenic so you shouldn't worry about dog hair or any pet allergies. He enjoys cuddling on the couch and is quick to warm up to guests.

We hope you are interested in staying in our home and we are sure that you will enjoy your stay!

  • Matt and Gabriela were both wonderful hosts during our stay in Portland. The room was neat and tidy. Great location near the Alberta Arts district. If you are looking for a great place to stay in Portland during your trip this is a good bet!

  • Midwest hospitality - GREAT taste in coffee - and endless recommendations on local things to do are only a few of the positive attributes that made Matt and Gabriela the perfect hosts for my first Airbnb experience! The space was more than accommodating for my sister and me as we began our journey thru the Pacific Northwest. Location was great and the plethora of maps throughout the apartment were perfect in navigating throughout the city and surrounding areas. I would highly recommend Matt and Gabriela as hosts and would not hesitate to reach out to them again if (or should I say when) I'm back in the area!

  • Myself and my partner stayed with Matt and Gabriela for three nights for our first holiday in Portland. It was a fantastic experience - the room was very clean, all amenities provided, and they even sacrificed one of their fans for our use in the smoking-hot weather. They were hospitable, very friendly - we felt truly at home. Even better were their recommendations for local places to eat!

We would both recommend anyone to stay with Matt, Gabriela and Pete (their cute little dog).

  • Our stay at Matt & Gabriela's home was simply pleasant. Everything was exactly like the Airbnb description said. The two of them were extremely nice and easy going people. I'd stay at their place again any time. We even ended up staying longer than planed. See for yourself! You will make friends with Pete the dog in no time.

  • Matt and Gabriela are so friendly ! They let maps in the room to help us to discover the city, fresh coffee every morning,…. Their house is very nice and we couldn't wish a better location.
We strongly recommend Matt and Gabriela as hosts. Pete, the dog as well !
We really hope to come back one day. We had a great time in Portland.

  • We really enjoyed staying with Matt and Gabby. And Pete the dog was so cute! The room is cozy, but nice. Matt and Gabby were great hosts and very knowledgable about local restaurants and fun things to do in the neighborhood. It was nice being within walking distance of Alberta Street.

  • We had a great time at Matt & Gabiela's place. They were helpful with recommendations for eating, as well as what to see/do during our visit. We only had brief visits with them at the end of the day, but they were always friendly and very accomodating! Their location is very close to public transit (it takes about half an hour to get downtown on transit), and their dog Pete is supper friendly and cute. The future (that you sleep on) feels like a futon, but that shouldn't deter you from staying here. We highly recommend their place.

We are originally from the Midwest but have lived in Portland since 2008 when Matt started graduate school. We have lived in NE Portland with our dog Pete for 4.5 years and love our neighborhood because it's so close to the places we like to hang out, eat and shop. Some of the things we love about living in Portland are the amazing food, awesome amounts of good beer, the great music scene and the proximity to so much nature.
