About this listing
Our charming and spacious top floor apartment is a true Brooklyn experience! Set on a beautiful tree lined street, our space is spotless, modern yet cozy with plenty of amenities. Close to the heart of Fort Greene, we know you will love our home!
Check out our top floor, sunny apartment on a beautiful tree lined street! Just minutes from many wonderful restaurants, bars, Fort Greene Park and cafes!
Sleeps four adults.
One large bedroom with queen-sized bed can accommodate two people and the office can accommodate two adults on our premium queen sized air mattress (sorry, no real bed there). One additional person could sleep on the large, very comfortable couch!
Small children welcome upon approval.
FYI: WE HAVE A CAT WHO STAYS IN THE APARTMENT WITH OUR GUESTS. WE ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR CAT FRIENDLY PEOPLE TO STAY IN OUR PLACE. Our guests have loved having James add to the homey feel of the place so please do not inquire if you are not a cat person! Our cat is older and can be grumpy-he also hates it when doors are closed and will scratch to get in!
THE BUILDING: This is a four-story building consisting of mostly couples and a few kids. There are three apartments on each floor and we are on the top, so you really don’t hear any of the neighbors. The front bay windows look out on trees and historic brownstone houses. The building is patrolled by security guards and is fully equipped with security cameras. There is laundry in the building as well. WARNING-there is no elevator so you will have to walk up 4 flights of stairs, but I promise the view and quiet are worth it!
THE SET UP: The apartment is approx 900 sq. ft and has one large bedroom and one office. There are two large full bathrooms w/tubs, well-stocked full kitchen with dishwasher, high ceilings, WiFi, mounted big flat screen TV. AC/Heat. A large hallway separates the sleeping & dining/sitting area so the lay out affords completely different spaces for sleeping and waking hours. The living space is open and spacious, with plush rugs in the living room, office and bedroom. We will provide bed linens, towels, blankets, plush pillows, hair dryer, and iron. Just bring your clothes!
THE DECOR: Hardwood floors, large windows and comfortable furniture. The entire apartment is bright and airy but with a very cozy feel. The many plants add to this wonderful feel as well! We keep the apartment very clean!
You will have access to the entire apartment and everything in it (minus any musical equipment and the record player.)
We also provide amenities like hotel style toiletries in the bathrooms, snacks and wine in the fridge and complimentary passes to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden (one of our favorite places to go!)
Interaction with Guests
We are usually away when we have guests but are always available via phone or email. Sometimes we are there to greet you and let you in-and once I had to come back because I forgot my phone charger ;)
THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Lush, green streets and beautiful brownstones add to the charm of this safe and lively neighborhood. Saturdays bring wonderful Farmers and Artisan markets, located in Fort Greene Park. A couple blocks away you’ll find the famous “Brooklyn Flea,” a perfect locale for an afternoon browse and a gourmet outdoor lunch. Also, the architectural & cultural gems of BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Art), The Mark Morris Dance Center & the Pratt University Campus are all just a ten-minute walk away. This is the perfect place to stay if you are taking in a show at the Barclay Center as well!
Thanks to Fort Greene's history, architecture, culture, greenery & transportation, the neighborhood consistently ranks as one of the best in all of NYC. We have lived here for 4 years and collectively lived in 15 different places in NYC before now. This is, by far, the best apartment in the best neighborhood we have ever lived in!
TRANSPORTATION: Super easy to travel anywhere! G train is right on the corner and the C is 2 blocks away, while the 2,3,4,5,Q, B & R are all about a ten-minute walk at Atlantic Pacific Terminal.
Just be respectful of the space! We want you to feel comfortable in our place and treat it like you would want your home to be treated. Please, no smoking in the house. Also, please do not use or handle any of the musical equipment. Use the AC as needed but please turn off when not in the apartment to conserve energy. Please feel free to entertain but remember there are two babies in the building who need their sleep! Enjoy!
About the Host, Tomiko
I am a kindergarten teacher in Brooklyn and my husband, Asher, (who lives here too) is an editor at the New York Times. I grew up in the Bay Area in California and made my way east about 12 years ago. I went to UC Santa Cruz for undergrad (Go Slugs!) and UC Berkeley for grad school. Asher is a CT native and went to Bard College before moving to the city. He always loves to say that he's lived in 14 places in New York and this one is the best.
We love food (and eating in our neighborhood), going to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens (we are members and have guest passes for all of our guests), checking out museums, and watching football on Sundays!
We both travel a lot so want to share this amazing space with you!! We are obsessed with our apartment and do everything to keep it nice and cozy. We are clean, laid back, great hosts (we leave you treats) and love our apartment so we know you will too.
