We are located just four houses in from the water- a two minute walk, with a lovely water view from the front yard. On the first floor, there is a large eat-in kitchen, a dining room that easily seats eight, living room, sun-room with table and chairs, and a full bathroom. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms (all with queen beds) and a full bathroom. Additionally, upstairs, there is a den with 60 inch flat screen TV. This converts to a sleeping area for three (futon and single sofa bed). The den has sliding doors that open to an outside deck. Also, an upstairs sitting area can sleep one on a rollaway bed. In the back yard the house has a large deck with picnic table and charcoal grill. There is also an outside shower. We have converted the one-car garage to a game room with a ping-pong table, games, toys, books and a VCR with a wide selection of videos to keep the kids (and adults!) occupied on those rainy days. The house is fully equipped with linens, towels, paper supplies and even some sodas in the fridge to welcome you to the beach. The spacious kitchen has a dishwasher, side-by-side refrigerator, and gas range/oven. It is equipped with pots, pans, utensils and dishes. There is a microwave, blender, toaster and coffee maker. You can eat at the kitchen table or serve a larger group in the dining room, have an intimate meal in the sun room or enjoy a family picnic out on the back porch/deck. Smoking outdoors only, please. During the summer season, the house is available by the week only. Your stay begins (email hidden) and extends until the following Sunday at 11 am. During the rest of the year, it is available for rent by the weekend, week, month, or longer. You can park three cars in the driveway, with additional parking on the street. The neighborhood is safe and wonderful for walking, biking and running, with stately homes and trees.
Private Guthrie Beach is sandy and pleasant, only steps away and right on Long Island Sound. The beach is yours to enjoy while renting the house. It has restrooms and is attended in season for your comfort and security but there is no lifeguard on duty. There is a roped swimming area and sunning/diving platform. Bring your picnic lunch and enjoy the picnic tables. We provide beach chairs, umbrella and coolers. The house has plenty of beach towels and beach toys for the family!
Bring along your bike and take a ride or walk along the seawall about a half mile to Ocean Beach Park with its boardwalk, kids water park, rides, food and activities. Drive five minutes and hop on a Ferry to Block Island or Orient Point, Long Island. Mystic is only a ten to fifteen minute drive away and features Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium. A 20-30 minute car ride gets you to the three largest casinos in the world, Mohegan Sun, MGM Grand and Foxwoods, with entertainment and dining options too numerous to count. The family will love the Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville at the Mohegan! We are only two hours from Boston and 2 1/2 hours from New York City. Summer at the Connecticut shore is beautiful! One of the high points of summer in New London is Sailfest - a celebration of ships and the sea in early July, with its huge fireworks display over a harbor absolutely alive with colorful boats and visitors. Walk a few blocks, pick out your viewing spot and let others deal with the traffic. New London is an arts lovers haven with galleries, artist colonies, live music, theatre and performing arts.
The house is comfortable and well-equipped. It is a few houses from a very nice private beach--clean sand, calm water (most of the time), lovely views, not crowded, bathrooms and showers available during the day. The neighborhood is quiet and pretty. Carolyn answered our questions promptly before our stay. We met her briefly on the breach, but, because there were no problems, we had little contact with her. We really enjoyed our stay.
Carolyn is a lovely person and easy to deal with. She was very interested in our comfort. My friends and I have wonderful memories of a New Year's Eve spent in New London.
Carolyn went out of her way to be helpful.I live in Florida and wanted to have a home cooked meal up north for my family. My family spent Thanksgiving at Carolyn's beach house and, prior to arriving, I shipped 70 pounds of food which I prepared and froze .
Carolyn accepted the delivery at her own house and brought it to the rental, unpacked it and placed in freezer!
She was very easy to communicate with and the house was clean and comfortable, The area is great with some very good restaurants near by.
