This open, unique and comfortable loft is a downtown luxury. It has a special private feel to it that makes the hustle and bustle of the city center worth it all. Enjoy my home, the terrace, Bahian sunrise and sunset, plants and views of the sea.
This centrally located upper floor loft apartment with well equipped kitchen overlooks All Saints Bay.
It has one big bedroom with a large terrace for watching sunsets, lying in a hammock or sunbathing. Its charming windows have views of Elevador Lacerda and Forte São Marcelo, and even Bomfim Church can be seen from a distance.
The popular neighborhood of Largo Dois de Julho has markets, restaurants and bus stops to almost anywhere.
This is actually the top floor of a two story apartment. It can be separated or joined together with the apartment downstairs.
Largo Dois de Julho is a downtown, working class neighborhood with a lot of local flair. There are many outdoor neighborhood type barzinhos, markets and restaurants.
I am from the US but have lived in Brazil for many years. I am a history and English teacher. I love the beach, going for walks, reading, listening to music, cooking, traveling and hanging out with friends. I used to own and run two crepe restaurants here in Salvador. I teach Middle School full time in Salvador. I have two Portuguese Water Dogs and a Westie.
Wireless internet and cable TV. Washing machine available downstairs.
I am usually working a lot, but I will help you out and answer your questions when I can.
Dois de Julho is a busy, downtown neighborhood with bars, restaurants, schools, cultural sites and historical buildings. It has a lot of local character and charm. During the daytime, you can easily visit malls, markets and restaurants, get to bus routes, several popular tourist destinations including Pelourinho. However, please be careful at night. It is NOT safe to walk home from Pelourinho, a busy tourist area. Pelourinho is Salvador's main tourist attraction, but it has some very sketchy, unsafe surroundings. TAKE A TAXI.
Take airport bus to Praça da Sé and get off a few stops before at Praça Piedade. There are many bus routes nearby, but walking around Dois de Julho is a cultural experience by itself. Barra beaches are 10-15 minute bus ride away. TAKE TAXIS WHEN COMING HOME AT NIGHT!!!
Do not walk home from Pelourinho at night!!!
If I am not around, please give my plants some water.
Fully furnished one bedroom loft with kitchen, wireless internet and cable TV.

Heather's apartment is incredible! Pack light though; there's no elevator. But the terrace and view beyond are amazing and worth every step! It served as a retreat from a long trip and gave me just the space my heart desired for writing.
The neighborhood was more "working class" than I expected. Don't let it discourage you though ... you'll be fine and you won't meet nicer people ... Heather included! She called to help me settle in, talked me through a difficult day, helped arrange taxis, and took me Aconchego da Zuzu for mocequa - one of the best meals I had in Brasil!
All in all, it's a great place to stay!
Heather was really nice and helpful.
The flat was perfect for the view, space and price.
Best if you want a local experience besides a awesome flat to relax! Everything you need is in the sorrounding and everything you need to see is in walking distance!
We really liked our stay at Heather's apartment. It has an amazing terrace with a beautiful view and which is great for just relaxing during the day.
The apartment is in a neighborhood that might come across as sketchy at first but we got used to it pretty fast.
Overall we can recommend Heather's place.
I strongly recommend Heather's place to anyone visiting Salvador and wanting a taste of life in the city instead of being in the tourist areas. I would not hesitate to come back here again. The area is "Brazilian" in that you are stepping into where normal residents live and work so don't come expecting a tourist haven but that's what makes it so great. The restaurants are great, local food at good prices, walking distance to Pelourinho, Bahia Marina, bus routes to Barra if you want to do that etc. As for the apartment itself it is really comfortable and has one of the best terraces I experienced while In Salvador, overlooking the Marina and the bay. The views in the mornings and evenings have to be seen to be believed. Heather is a great hostess, helping out with making restaurant reservations, shopping, recommendations for sightseeing etc. I cannot recommend this place enough.
Heather~s apartment is awesome very very big and the terrace is amazing as you can see on the pictures! We just had an issue with mosquitoes. The neighborhood is very popular with a little market taking place all day long so the street is quite busy and you don't feel unsafe. You have little restaurants and shops to buy bread, juices, and everything you need. You can walk to the Pelourinho or take buses that pass close from the apartment. Heather is very friendly and we spent a very good evening with her. We definitely recommend the place.
Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to see the real Salvador, who is not afraid to go beyond the hotel fence. The apartment is situated on a residential street with restorants, shops etc., close to the historic center. It is very comfortable and spacious, with a huge terrace and stunning views of the bay.
I want to thank Heather for her kindness. I still remember how our taxi got lost in the old town, but there appeared at the crossroads a woman with a big black dog - that Heather came to meet us (at 3a.m !)
