IMPORTANT: Please click "Contact Host" and send me a note if you're thinking of coming to the area. I prefer this to simply receiving a booking request that I only have the option of accepting or declining! :)
The apartment is in great shape and will be a very comfortable place for you (and your friends /family) to stay in. The apartment is a one bedroom, one bath English basement in DC’s historic Adams Morgan neighborhood. The 700 + sq/ft apartment features a living room with a wood-burning fireplace, central heat and air, full kitchen, a large and sunny bedroom with a queen-size bed, TV/DVD, and wireless internet connection. There is also a big couch that pulls out into a queen-size bed. The apartment has a semi-separate dressing room with large closet you can use to hang clothes. Clean towels and linens will be provided for you as well!
Bathroom: The bathroom has a full tub. And of course you could just use it for a shower. A hairdryer is also provided.
The refrigerator is medium sized: feel free to stock any small kitchen supplies. The stove/oven is electric and works great. There are 4 burners, a microwave, a toaster and a kettle and a coffee machine that you should feel free to use.
I have a washer/dryer you will be able to use as well.
No smoking, heavy partying or pets are permitted.
** Please DO NOT book before contacting me. Availability may not be reflected on the online calendar. **
The apartment is situated just a short block from the Adams Morgan neighborhood hotspots of 18th Street’s restaurants and nightlife. There is quick access to public transportation (bus stops are a two minute walk away) and it is easy to get to wherever you may want to go during your time here. It's also just 2-miles from the mall and an easy walk to two metro lines (about 15 minutes to the green/yellow line on U Street, 12 minutes to the Red line in Woodley Park and 15 minutes to the red line in Dupont Circle).
You will be located four minutes from a Harris Teeter grocery shop, and about 5 minutes from a Safeway and a "Yes" organic shop. Street parking may be available, though I do not have a designated one. There are a few parking garages nearby that cost about $25 per day(this is a popular neighborhood, especially on weekends).
A two-night night minimum stay is required (if more than seven nights, there is a weekly rate).
If interested, I would be happy to answer any questions, upload more photos of the apartment and discuss arrangements.
I'd be happy to offer you some tour, restaurant and nightlife tips when you're here as well!
Guests have access to the full apartment.
Interaction with Guests
I usually meet guests with keys, or arrange for neighbor/friend to meet them for check in.
Adams Morgan spills over with hipsters, salsa fans and revelers in this come-as-you-are nightlife hot spot. The main thoroughfare, 18th Street, features a mix of cool cat bars, raucous music venues and Latin-infused lounges. Locals love the neighborhood for its late-night scene, quirky boutiques and global cuisine.
The colorful and eclectic Adams Morgan neighborhood exists along a mile-long stretch of 18th Street. Thanks to a flood of new restaurants, lounges and live music venues, the ultra-laid-back locale has continued its 20-plus-year reign as a nightlife epicenter. But visitors of all ages are just as likely to while away an afternoon at an independent shop, coffee house or nearby park.
The apartment is located in Adams Morgan, one of the best neighborhoods in town, but close to the historic center of DC - only 10-15 min by bus or Metro from the National Mall. There are bus stops on the block of where you will be staying, and the red and green Metro stations are a short walk from the place.

We stayed at Ami's place for seven nights for our first ever visit to DC, and it really complemented a great experience. I would recommend staying here for anyone who wants to add a nice, living neighborhood to their visit.
As a host, Ami likes to get to know his guests. Learning we were first time visitors, he provided us with lots of inside tips on places to go and how to get around. The place was clean and tidy, with plenty of space for two guests. Ami kept in touch during the stay, making us feel really well looked after.
The neighborhood has a truly great atmosphere, vibrant in the weekend and calmer in the weekdays. We tried some of the local restaurants, cafés and bars in the nearby Columbia Road, and found them to be great places to drop in after long days of sightseeing. We are definitely going to visit Adams Morgan the next time we are in DC, and would love to stay at Ami’s again. Thanks!
Ami à été très prévenant et la location
Est très bien situé, nous avons passé trois belles journées
Ami was very helpful. The apartment is so close to the lovely Adams Morgan 18th street that we ended up going out for more meals than we expected and it is also very cool even on hot days. I would definitely check with Ami next time we're in DC.
I stayed at Ami's apartment in DC for 3 nights. Upon arrival, myself and my two friends were greeted by Ami and he showed us the apartment, gave us a wealth of helpful tips about the area and DC at large, and furthermore took us for a tour of the neighborhood. He was extremely pleasant and easily contactable at any time. The place itself was extremely clean, very spacious, and in an amazing location in the heart of Adams Morgan. The neighborhood had an abundance of places to eat and drink, and a great social atmosphere. It was very easy to get to the Mall strip from Ami's place and see all the sights. If I ever come back to DC again I will definitely try to stay at his place, it was a fantastic experience!
We had a fine week staying at Ami’s apartment. It was quiet despite being around the corner from a very busy part of the neighborhood. The neighborhood was fun to walk around, and we enjoyed the people we met. Ami’s apartment was an easy walk from just about anything we needed. Stores are close, bus stops are close, even the Metro is relatively close. Dupont Circle is a pleasant stroll away, as is Meridian Hill Park. There are several options nearby for picking up Capital Bikeshare bicycles, including one near the zoo that’s convenient to the Rock Creek Trail for an easy ride down to the Lincoln Memorial. Ami’s apartment was comfortable on the hottest days without having to run the A/C much at all. Gabby got us going, Ami checked in with us, and we felt comfortable and safe. We would stay again (assuming Ami will have us).

About the Host, Ami
I am an environmentalist, and currently run an eco-tourism travel company. I have traveled around the world (and still do), and enjoy the possibilities airbnb gives travelers. I attended the first Airbnb Open conference from where my photo swinging on Belo was taken! I love Washington, DC, and am happy to share the city with my guests!
