The Space

A clean and comfortable room on a quiet street in Amsterdam 's most popular neighborhood "De Pijp".
This is a one bedroom apartment and can accommodate a maximum of one person.

The room is located on the ground floor so no stairs, for those with heavy suitcases.

The bathroom and kitchen are clean and shared with me. There is wireless internet included.

This room is ideal for guests who have business downtown. Public transportation such as tram lines are located 5 minutes walking distance.
The city center is a ten minutes bike ride away, from where you will be situated.

These attractions are also very close by; the famous and lovely Albert Cuyp Market (A flee market), where you can buy fresh food and other merchandises and the Sarphati Park, named after the famous Dutch physician doctor Sarphati. There are many different kinds of restaurants and cafés around the corner.

Looking forward to welcoming you in my home!

  • I had a nice stay in the Van Ostadestraat. Gil was a very welcoming host. The room was spacious and the desk was handy. The neighbourhood has a good feel to it and the walk to the city center only takes about twenty minutes. Definitely a good idea!

  • I arrived at Amsterdam Centraal train station and the accommodation was very accessible and easy to find with the tram around the corner. The area was very trendy, safe and tranquil also (a great combination). Bars, cafés and organic shops all right beside. Key drop off pick up, to-ing and fro-ing was handy. Gil himself was a top man, plenty of pragmatic advice as well as being perpetually friendly and insightful.

The room itself was very comfy, spacious, private, well furnished and tidy. I also had some work to do and it was perfect and quiet for that, along with excellent wifi ! Can't say much more other than it was absolutely perfect experience with a charming host in a nice, comfy, well located apartment in a trendy city!!

  • Gil's place is really easy to find (if you read his instructions carefully) and place is just perfect. Not too far from all the major sights, but away from all the noise and crowds of the center. Room is spacious and very well furnished - 2 tables, chair, armchair, 3 bookshelves, clothes hanger, lots of lights, and then the comfortable single bed. Shower had steady hot-water flow (oh, yeah that's really important, since i hate washing up in the morning with cold water). Place was clean, there was always a steady wi-fi connection. Gil as is mentioned in many reviews is really warm, friendly, charming guy and a great musician (went to one of his shows, and that was one of the highlights of my trip). So what can i say...Great time. Just great!

  • I enjoyed staying at Gil's place. He is very friendly and a great host. He helped me get situated and gave me easy instructions to get a bike rental which is a must in that city. The bed was comfortable and private. I would stay there again if I come back to Amsterdam.

  • I had a very nice experience at Gil's place and I really felt at home. The room is very nice and half way between the congress centre and the city centre. If you're attending a conferece at RAI, it's the perfect place.

  • It was just great! Thank you very much, Gil, for having me - and especially for the conversation. The room is very spacious and nice. Besides that there are a lot of musical instruments in the rest of the flat, which made me feel very comfortable.

  • The room was very spacious and Gil was very accommodating. I am not a complicated traveler. A bed/room and a bathroom are all i need, really. This was a nice setup which allowed Gil to have his privacy while renting out the front room. Location was great, right near the #4 tram, which goes direct to Centraal Station and hits many of the hot spots you want to see.

  • Nice large room (but single bed). Great location - out of the tourist crush, but in an area with many restaurants and shops frequented by locals, and easy walk to major museums. Gil is very friendly and personable; it was a pleasure to chat with him. Ask him about the great Indonesian takeout nearby!

  • Awesome host, with a centrally located apartment. Gil was more than happy to assist me during my stay, and was gracious enough to let me check in after midnight having missed my train from Paris to Amsterdam.

  • The apt was lovely and Gil was a great host, very welcoming and friendly. It's located in a fantastic neighbourhood, very easy to get around and see all the sights. The room was very comfortable and quiet, so great for some much needed rest.
