I'm sorry people, I'm working away from home now without internet access, then I'm going to Kenya for 4 months - so I can't host for a while. Hope to see you in December!
3 storey Georgian townhouse, best address in town.
Large first-floor bedroom with king-size bed and fireplace.
There's a large (shared) bathroom with double bath and walk-in shower just along the hall.
On the ground floor, we have a well equipped kitchen, a lovely quarrytiled dining room with woodburning stove, and a courtyard garden with gas barbeque and a stream alongside.
Wireless broadband is good throughout the house, off street parking is available.
Smoking is confined to my ground floor office, or outside.
I Don't Do Mornings. . . . ! But I do lay out a good breakfast: juice, cereal, tea/fresh coffee and a selection of nice breads with marmalade and jam. Evening meals can also be arranged.
I often accommodate guests when the Bramley Apple pub (next door but one) is fully booked - excellent evening meals, lovely hosts, great place to meet, great ciders, wines and locally brewed beer - and they're happy to cook you a full English if they have other guests!
The house is 5 minutes walk 'uptown' to the beautiful MInster and the lovely Georgian town centre with its individual shops, cafes and restaurants. Look out for the Prebendal houses, named after the Minster's parishes, and maybe have a look at Byron's house.
5 minutes 'downtown' to 3 independent award-winning pubs - along the way, take a look at the house where the original Bramley Apple tree still grows.
5 minutes across the road to fantastic country walks, either across the beautiful park and protected grasslands to the Minster, or you can stretch your legs further across rolling farm fields.
The historic market town of Newark on Trent and the vibrant city of Nottingham are both within easy reach, or if you prefer meandering around gorgeous countryside and villages with welcoming country pubs, you might need more than a day!
A great stay in a charming country town. The room was private, clean, and quiet. All of the house guests were warm and inviting, but none greater than Jo (the property owner). Jo made very last minute accommodations for us and always have quick replies during our communication. This a great place to get a local feel for southwell life and community. If your planning to visit both Lincolin and Nottingham, then this is a perfect accommodation located just 30-40 min from either.
What a lovely home! Couldn't have asked for a better host. Room was lovely and breakfast was perfect. Would highly recommend and will definitely return next year
A very pretty room at the top of the house with bathroom down a level. It was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was enjoyed in a very arty room. It was warm and cosy in both bedroom and breakfast room. We enjoyed our stay very much. Thanks Jo!
I had a wonderful time with Josephine! I was over visiting family, which is duty and not necessarily (website hidden) knew perfectly how to let me unwind, and also be a lovely, lovely host without smothering me. I think (hope) it was a meeting of kindred spirits! I'm looking forward to future visits and seeing everyone down at the pub again...Thanks to all (also Kati, Daniel and Angus) who made me feel so welcome, Caroline
A lovely home in a great setting. Josephine was a fabulous host and nothing was too much trouble. Really comfortable bed and despite -5 temperatures outside the room was warm and cozy.
Josephine's pad is perfect - close to town with oodles of character, impeccably furnished, rustically charming. Our hostess was welcoming and considerate, going to all lengths to make us comfortable. We couldn't have wished for a more relaxed, easy going stay - thank you so much!
A lovely room and very welcoming host. Recommended.
Josephine is a friendly, welcoming and thoughtful host. We stayed in a lovely airy and spacious double room which was nicely decorated. The shower in the bathroom was powerful and the bath was big enough for two. Josephine contacted us in advance to ask what we wanted for breakfast which I thought was a nice touch!
Josephine made us feel at home but equally gave us space to do our own thing. I'd recommend her as a host and would definitely stay again.
