Unique home, pristine setting, incredible community. Recently remodeled with special attention to the use of materials that are energy efficient, non toxic, and aesthetically pleasing. The focus on conservation is evident throughout with hand crafted counters of recycled glass and resin, reclaimed wood floors and trim, volcanic limestone and resin tub, and more. The incorporation of antiques in the cabinets, stained glass windows, and individually selected doors create a timeless appeal. The recycled theme is carried through to the art, with a stunning school of fish individually sculpted out of aluminum cans, and the custom furniture which includes a dining room table made from a 150 year old mission door.
While there is much to appreciate in the interior construction, it's the view that captures you. The home sits on a limestone bluff directly over the river with water views from almost every room in the house. The water is deep enough to paddle board and is perfect for tubing when the river is flowing. You can rest your lounge chair in the shallow water on the banks and relax to the soothing sounds of the rapids when you're through with your swim.
Hard to imagine a place this serene can also be convenient, but the location is unbeatable. We're a mile from town, Blue Hole Regional Park, and Wimberley's renown outdoor theater, The Corral. Jacob's Well is just a few minutes away. Fiber Arts enthusiasts will love Old Oaks Ranch. Live music and is always available in town, at the Whitewater Ampitheater or other nearby locations. In addition to all there is to do here, Wimberley is the perfect location to stay while you plan day trips to outlying areas. Head out on a hill country wine or barbecue tour, visit Hamilton Pool, tube the Guadalupe in New Braunfels, take in Gruene and the oldest dance hall in Texas, tour LBJ's boyhood home in Johnson City, or spend the day at America's largest water park, Schlitterbahn. Wimberley is home to many artists and musicians and there are opportunities to attend a variety of shows year round. San Antonio is only an hour away with The Alamo, 6 Flags, the zoo and more, or head 45 minutes north to Austin, the Live Music Capitol of the World!
The well stocked kitchen with professional cookware, gas stove, and every imaginable appliance will delight any cook. The enormous master suite is divine with it's cathedral ceiling, inviting decor and a bathroom to rival any spa. The architecture features high ceilings throughout with a 30 foot ceiling in the living room wrapped in wood.
There are no carpets, drapes or indoor plants to aggravate allergies. However, pets are on the property.
There is a greenhouse with an aquaponic system. You're welcome to partake of the current selection of organic produce.
We love this community and will gladly help tailor your stay to include your interests. No doubt, you will be enchanted, too.
The Blanco River, any produce from the garden, and free tickets to any barn concerts if they coincide with your stay.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as you prefer.
The location is EXTREMELY convenient but tranquil. We have the river behind the house and ranches across the street. The grocery store is 1.5 miles away, and the Coral Outdoor Theatre is just down the road. Flite Acres is truly one of the most desirable streets in Wimberley.
There is no public transit. But you can rent horses down the road!
We prefer not to charge a large deposit, but much or our artwork and furnishings are valuable and irreplaceable. We would like our guests to follow the golden rule and exercise care and responsibility. We waited until our children were older before we purchased some of our less practical investments, (like the Italian leather cream colored sofa). If your children have a proclivity for decorating with Sharpies or scissors, you might want to place breakables out of reach and supervise indoor activity. We appreciate your thoughtfulness.
I rented this property (the main house) and this cabin for my wedding party. The cabin was an extension so that there would be more sleeping spaces so I didn't actually stay in this house. I can say though that it was adorable! There is a nice porch and a cute vintage truck outside that has lights that turn on with the porch lights. I would recommend to anyone!
My wife and I stayed at this house for 9 nights with our family. On the plus side, the property and view of the Blanco River are beautiful. We enjoyed having the cats around and seeing deer on the property every day. The house itself is great, the highlights being the master bathroom, the giant back porch, and the master’s balcony. Summer was responsive and helpful when we had questions. We loved Wimberley in general, and overall, we had a nice stay.
However, on the downside, we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the house. There were spiders and cobwebs everywhere, some of the toilets had not been well cleaned, and the fridge and microwave in particular were bad. The fridge was full of half-eaten food and the microwave had food splatters everywhere. We didn't feel comfortable using either, so my poor mother spent over an hour cleaning the fridge and partially cleaning the microwave. Not how you want to start your vacation.
Also, in the first few days of our stay, we saw and killed at least 6 roaches in the house. My wife even found one running around in the silverware drawer in the kitchen. We purchased roach motels for the entire house and this seemed to help.
Since we had a full house, we noticed a few other oddities. For instance, one of the guest beds was just two twin beds pushed together and made up as one large bed, but the twin beds were different heights, so it was uncomfortable to sleep on. Another guest bed seemed to have dirty sheets that we had to wash the first night, and another guest bed was just a blow up mattress.
Overall, we were a little disappointed in this home. The location, river view, and animals helped redeem the issues we had with the cleanliness. However, we were surprised that only one of the user reviews here addressed this issue and felt that the quality of the house was misrepresented in the ratings.
- Located in Wimberley and very close to town. Wimberley is very quaint with good restaurants and shops.
- Backyard is very picturesque with the view of the river.
- Smooth check-in, host was hospitable and easy to communicate with. (Also baked cookies like others have mentioned)
- Master bed and bath were especially nice.
- Advertised as 4 bed rooms, but only 3 actually have beds. 4th room is just a small fitness room that the owner can place an airbed in upon request.
- Price is quite high IMO. Total cost for me was $1385 for 2 nights. That's $173 per room per night which I would consider comparable to a nice hotel.
- House was a little dirty, my wife had to sweep the house and there were tons of cobwebs everywhere. My ground floor bath tub had dirt in it.
- Kingsize bed on ground floor is pretty old and probably needs to be changed out.
This spot is truly fantastic. If anything, the pictures are inaccurate insomuch they don't truly capture the size and proximity to the river of this spot. We'd definitely come back!!
Summer was an excellent host. Check in was very smooth. The house is even more amazing than the listing makes it seem.
Fantastic house. We had 4 couples and had plenty of privacy and space. Access to the water is incredibly easy, and the photos make it look further than it is. We were pleasantly surprised by the ease of access. Also, the river front at this property is exceptional. The riverbed has multiple consistent levels of depth from 1 ft to ~4ft. We could wade, fly fish, toss the football, and swim all within the bounds of this property. When our internet wasn't working, our router was immediately replaced with one that met our needs. This house is incredible. I'd honestly consider buying it if the opportunity were there.
Summer was a pleasure to deal with. Very quick to respond to queries and requests. She was very generous with her kitchen appointments and spices.
It was also lovely to have access to linens, dishes, flatware, and washer and dryer. The house was beautiful and easy to keep clean. Spacious enough to have a family reunion of sorts without stepping over each other. Access to the Blanco River was behind the house. A very quick jaunt down and back for the nimble. As a senior with some mobility issues, it was a bit slower and seemed more precarious than it was after getting used to it and having a bit of an assist. We all spent hours in the river. Sons-in-law enjoyed fly fishing. Rarely knew what time it was because it was so relaxing. Just what we hoped for! Would return again in a heartbeat! Wonderful vacay...
