Apartment - Private room · E 11th St, Long Beach, CA 90804, United States

Our spacious apartment has a special charm to it! With its eclectic retro inspired furnishings, combined with zen flair--it provides a really comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for you to enjoy your home away from home. Great location and fun hosts!

The Space

Hello Lovelies! We have a charming penthouse style apartment with a spare bedroom available for your use! Our three bedroom, two bath home features hardwood floors, comfortable furniture with a blend of antiques, vintage and modern pieces, water fountains, color therapy and zen decor.

Please Note: We have TWO listings. If one is booked, please check to see if the other is open. : )

Our home is up one flight of stairs and is over 2500 sq ft. It is situated above a business and has an open floor plan with a large living room, gigantic kitchen and a bonus room we have turned into a vintage parlor, replete with a bar and 1957 record player! We have a 70s style bar and three separate dining areas (five including the patio!) Between the kitchen and living room we can comfortably seat 30 plus people! We also have a large fully enclosed patio that we are decorating as a lounge area and is perfect for enjoying coffee or a candlelit meal.

Julie and I are an amazingly talented couple who welcome everyone into our home! We love being social and having friends over for dinners, brunch and game nights! We have a poker table just for the occasion.

We offer delicious Continental breakfast for short term stays, free wifi, a comfortable bedroom and an adorable therapy pup, named Olivia Grace! Enjoy a complimentary snack basket in your room upon arrival and a complimentary book of poetry written by Lisa Mae!

Each room has been infused with lots of loving energy and is referred to as the 'healing rooms' and has offered many people a great place to stay! You'll enjoy a comfortable bed, books, candles and lots of sunshine in your room!

Our pup, Olivia Grace, is a small yorkipoo pup who is well behaved and loves to love on people! So please like animals. : ) Olivia Grace is hypoallergenic and doesn't shed! She is very loving and friendly!

Our apartment is just thirteen blocks from the beach and is a thirty minute refreshing walk. We are extremely close to public transportation so navigation is fairly easy. We are right across the street from several shopping centers, including grocery stores, the best inexpensive chinese food ever, and 24 hour drug stores and several restaurants. We even have an awesome thrift store across the street! You really don't need to venture far! The best chiropractor in town is just two blocks away.

There are several bus stops within walking distance to take you wherever you need to go. We are incredibly close to Public Transportation.

We are only two miles from many Long Beach attractions, such as the Shoreline Village, Performing Arts Center which is in front of the LB Convention Center, The Aquarium, The Queen Mary and many festivals and museums in the area! We are also close to CSULB.

We are antique and thrift store fiends, so if you're looking for vintage stores to peruse, we can point you in the right direction! (Lisa Mae is addicted!) Looking for suggestions where to go? Tell us your interests and we'll craft an adventure for you!

The bus station is just two blocks away and can take you to the train station if you'd like to escape to LA, Hollywood, Pasadena or anywhere the tracks lead you!

We are close to movie theaters, coffee shops (organic too!), restaurants, vegan restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, farmers markets (on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) and entertainment are all within two miles--easy walking distance if you're looking to stay/get in shape!

You can get to the 710 or the 405 freeways from our place.

Three blocks away you can rent beach cruisers and bikes for $25 a day! Or you can rent two of our bikes for $15 a day! (As long as we are not out on them, you can use them!) There is a wonderful path along the ocean that you can bike on for miles and miles! Check out the beautiful sunsets we have and stop at the many wonderful restaurants in Shoreline Village, 2nd Street, Pine Street, Belmont Shore and more!

We tolerate absolutely NO SMOKING OR DRUGS! We are social drinkers, so that's okay. Small house trained dogs are permitted with an additional fee of $10 per night. MUST BE DISCUSSED IN ADVANCE and get along with other dogs.

We do not allow cats. Sorry--I am allergic to cats.

We look forward to hosting you! We know you'll enjoy your stay with us! : )

With Love, Hugs and Inspiration,

Lisa Mae, Julie and Olivia Grace

  • I booked from France for my son to stay in LA and he loved the place and the girls. He spent quanlity time there and was welcomed as part of the family.
It was the best start in LA we could wish for. Thank you so much.

  • It was exactly the apartment as description in the announcement very clean, big kitchen and a beautiful closed balcony. Although, we have had a little miscommunication before our arriving there. I thought I've booked two rooms than only one. Lisa-Mae and July, however, did all what they can to do our stay there as good as possible. Long Beach isn't the most central place of L.A.. From the apartment you can reach Central L.A. by the public transportation in more than one hour. To make yourself comfortable rent a car, don't waste your time in bus or train.
My Conclusion: Nice People, clean apartment and Price-performance ratio is good! Thank you both

  • My friend and I stayed for 3 nights, although we wished we'd have stayed for a longer time. Lisa and Julie were great hosts, they asked us if we wanted to join them for several things as we didn't have any plans. The location is perfect, near to everything you need. The place is clean and we wouldn't hesitate staying there again. And Olivia, the dog was a cutie! :)

    July 2013
  • We had a great stay with Lisa Mae and Julie. Their dog Olivia is a little cutie. Their home was centrally located, with everything within a few minute drive or a longer, refreshing walk. The room we stayed in was small, but the bed was comfortable. We had no problems finding on street parking in front of the house. The only problem we had was the absence of a door bell or buzzer when we arrived. We had to text Lisa Mae, who then asked Julie to let us in. Other than that, it was a nice place to stay :-)

  • As a short term visitor, it was a little disconnected. Suitability really depends on why you're visiting. If as a tourist on foot then maybe not. The apartment was fine if on quite a noisy street. You can't leave the fan on without the light being on and opening the window makes the noise worse. I was in the second of two rooms, so my comments would not apply to the other room. The bedroom is right by the front door so anyone visiting can see straight into your room. One of the windows has no coverings of any kind, which females might find disconcerting.

There is a very friendly dog, who enjoyed keeping my seat warm and made me feel very welcome. Lisa Mae and Julie were good hosts although not providing an inclusive feeling, which is why I was choosing AirBnB style accommodation.

Overall, more suited as temporary accommodation than a short term visitor.

    Response from Lisa Mae:

Unfortunately, Kevin arrived the day Julie was in a car accident and our car was totaled. We spent much of the day at the hospital. We were also given additional medical news which really set us both for a loop, so we were not as accessible as we usually are the few days he stayed with us. To address his concerns: The fan CAN be left on without the light being on... we were never asked for assistance of any kind. We would have been happy to help! As we were in the middle of redecorating, (which I did explain upon his arrival) we did not have a curtain for the tiny window in the room which is not viewable by the public, up before he arrived. I had planned to have it up, but again, we were at the hospital the day of his arrival. Additionally, we are located conveniently next to a variety of public transportation sources just steps away, which allow for visitors who are traveling on foot, easy access to just about anywhere they need to go. We would have been happy to share this information with Kevin had we been asked. : ) Most of our guests are actually long-term stays! Usually, we enjoy cooking meals, having game nights, interacting with our guests, etc. but we both were dealing with the aftermath of the accident. We really try to accommodate everyone's needs when we are able and we did enjoy Kevin's company and interesting stories when we did have the opportunity to connect! : )

  • Lisa Mae has a huge, sunny apartment and an equally sunny personality. The guest room was clean, the bedding smelled of fresh laundry and there were fruit and granola bars by the bed! Big kitchen and open living space is a great place for morning coffee, shared dinners or reading on the couch. I shared a bathroom (nice and clean) with another AirBNB guest, but assume this could be one's own to use if no other guests are staying. In all, the house is clean, welcoming and quiet, and the neighborhood offers used bookstores and plenty of Thai and Cambodian food at a short walking distance. Recommended.

  • The room is great as the location and all the sharing spaces! Everything was good!

  • I stayed here two months after I relocated to Southern California for a new job. Lisa Mae and Julie are so very kind and welcoming!! And their little dog, Olivia too! I had a wonderful time with the three of them and I recommend booking here, as it is most definitely a warm and welcoming place to stay!

    January 2013
  • Lisa Mae and Julie care a lot about their home, and it shows. The place was very clean, tastefully decorated and Lisa Mae and Julie always greeted us with big smiles and were super-polite and accommodating. =)

The room itself was very comfortable, and we were pleasantly surprised to see a basket of goodies waiting for us when we first got in!

Loved our stay there, would stay there again in a heartbeat!
