Interaction with guests
I love a good chat, but respect your privacy. We provide an affordable alternative to over-priced hotels, just be mindful of the fact that you're in our home. Our home is ideally suited for tourists who will spend most of the day out and about, not homebodies who want to sleep until noon and come home late.
Forest Glen was established in 1961. We're situated near a beautifully expansive forest, close lots of great restaurants and public transportation along Columbia Pike and just four miles to historic Ft. Myer and the awe-inspiring Air Force Memorial.
16G metro bus stop is visible from our home, a taxi/uber ride will get you to the National Mall in approximately 12-15 minutes as long as it's not rush hour.
Other things to note
If you request a late check-out, I'm happy to store your luggage in the hallway but ask that you vacate the room by 11am so I can begin cleaning for the next guest. I often do this during my lunch break. It's easiest to communicate with me via text since I'm a musician who can't talk on the phone during rehearsals or performances.
Absolutely no smoking indoors or overnight guests who are not part of the original booking! Please do not ask to have packages mailed to our home. Besides that, we're a pretty tolerant family who have had mostly good experiences so far. Check in is after 4 pm and BEFORE 10pm. If you must check in late, please call/text and be mindful of that fact that we're upstairs sleeping so keep noise to a minimum. We may be able to accommodate a slightly earlier check-in on some days if you contact us ahead of time. We also ask that you do not come upstairs unless invited since we both work odd hours and often have irregular sleep schedules. With that said, we're definitely not a good fit for couples who like to lounge around all day. If you want that kind of privacy, we're not the right fit for you. Lastly, if you have questions or concerns even when we're home, just send a text to make sure we're available, thanks!

love all kinds of music, friendly stray cats, other peoples' dogs; inspired by bold art, nature, and people who make me think.
Our home is in Arlington, part of the original grid for DC. You'll find authentic Ethiopian, Guatemalan, El Salvadorean, great pubs and plenty of American fare along Columbia Pike, Arlington's original Main Street. We're 2 miles from Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse. If you want a truly local experience, admission is FREE during American football season. Food and entertainment aside, the best perk is the expansive Glencarlyn Forest at the end of our street, a literal runners and bicycle riders oasis.
As a musician, I've traveled extensively and spent many nights in hotels or with host families. I'm enjoying being on the other end as a host who can provide weary travelers with a good night's rest that is better than what you would get at a noisy over-priced chain hotel in the city. Come find out for yourselves what makes our home the "Best of Both Worlds."
