The Space

A very clean and quaint apartment with fantastic view of the sea. It is artistically furnished with antique teak wood furniture and original beautiful paintings. The apartment has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. Both rooms have a queen sized bed and are air conditioned. There is a fridge, hob, kettle and utensils in the kitchen if you need to cook or eat in. We have since re-stocked the kitchen with proper mugs, plates, frying pan and bowls (as a response to comment from previous tenant). You can choose to dine in the dining room or al fresco on the balcony looking out to sea. The apartment is also equipped with a washing machine. The bathrooms are modern with rain shower and hand held shower. Both bathrooms have wall to wall mirrors and hot showers. Wireless high speed internet is available for a small fee.
The beach is a 3 minute walk from the apartment. You can also enjoy the amenities of the apartment complex which comes with a pool, a tennis court, a restaurant and a convenience store. If you enjoy shopping for clothes, souvenirs, crafts, handbags or watches, the street market is a 5 minute walk away. You will also find tasty local food, Mc Donald's, Western Bistro, seafood located nearby (within 10 minutes). The bus stop is at the entrance of the apartment complex should you desire to travel to Georgetown to experience the heritage culture. You can also call for a taxi or hail one at the entrance of the apartment complex.
I have lived in Penang for a long time and would be happy to assist you should you prefer the non-touristy scene. Feel free to inquire if you have special needs. We have baby cots and extra bedding if you need them. I love to read and have lots of books and also movies, should a rainy day unexpectedly confine you indoors.
You will not regret staying in this apartment. We hope to see you very soon!

  • My wife and I spent a whole month at Liza's apartment and enjoyed it from the onset.

It's clean ,adequately furnished and most of all conveniently located at Batu Ferringhi directly across the road from 5 star hotel Rasa Sayang (managed & owned by The Shangrila hotel chain.)

The host Liza is very friendly and helpful .She even paid us a visit during our stay to enquire about our well being (website hidden)'s a personal touch we appreciated .

All the major Hotels are within walking distance from the apartment including Golden Sands , Lone Pine and Holiday Inn

Bus stop to the city is located directly in front of the apt block . But if you hire a car like we did , getting to the main shopping areas at gurney drive and George Town takes less than 30 mins .

Food stalls abound in the vicinity and dining at the surrounding hotels & listening to live music whilst indulging on a cocktail is a nice way to end the day.

  • This is a well planned apartment in a high rise block. There is a marvellous balcony off the lounge which has lovely sea views. We spent hours there.
The air conditioning works well and the kitchen provided most kitchen utensils.
Liza also got some beers in for our arrival, which was greatly appreciated.
The apartment was in walking distance of all shops, banks and amenities.
The road outside the hotel is extremely busy. Most of the roads are 3 lanes in each direction, but changes to single lane just prior to Battu.
We asked the reception staff some questions , but were soon told they would not help us as our accommodation was privately owned.
On the whole we had a good time and would visit again.

  • We had a nice stay at Liza's airy and spacious apartment, with balcony and sea view. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms modern with plenty of hot water. Close to the night market and many cheap eateries. Liza was very responsive to our messages. Lovely bush with monkeys at the rear of the block.

  • Liza was very accommodating and the apartment was clean, airy, and spacious. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The apartment was also only a few minutes walk away from the beach as it is only a road's cross away. Thank you!

  • Overall, we had a great experience at this apartment, and Liza was an excellent host. She was available to us when we contacted her and provided all we needed. She even brought us a rice cooker when we said that we cooked at home a lot (my wife is Japanese and appreciated this greatly). She also gave us good advice on car rental and kids activities.

The apartment is clean and looks exactly like the pics. The building's security guards are friendly and the staff, while not particularly cheerful, are helpful. The food in the restaurant is surprisingly good and the pool was lots of fun -- my kids made friends there at least once a week (it is a loud pool, for those who want to relax in front of it with a book). The view is spectacular and the location is great for all things Batu Ferringhi, especially of you have a car, but there is a bus station close (buses are clean and air-conditioned, but sometimes late) and the front desk will call you a cab if you ask.

Having said all this, I should mention that this is a holiday rental building, and with that, naturally, comes people on holiday, who can be quite loud on occasion. Normally this is not an issue after, say 11pm, but there were several occasions where people were partying in the wee hours nearby. The design of the building carries noise and so it can be hard to block it off or even locate the offending apartment. When I did, a security guard came up and stopped the party immediately. This may only bother light sleepers like myself, and Liza said that the owner's association is doing something about it. The few nights of noise (over a month that we stayed there) would not have changed my decision to stay there — we had a lovely month here, and it's possible it was just bad timing (we were there during school holidays — but I felt it should be mentioned.

Oh! forgot to mention: we were pleased that at such a height we had a beautiful crossbreeze and only used AC while asleep at night. The balcony dries clothes fast and is a great spot to watch storms arrive and depart.

  • Very comfortable apartment with an excellent view. It was hard to leave. Close proximity to the beach, food stalls and night market. Also easy access to public transport.

  • Wow! This was our first airbnb stay and we were so lucky to have Liza as our warm and friendly host. The rooms were spotless and the beds so comfortable, and the pool is great, but the view was the star of our accommodations. What really made our trip wonderful, though, was to have Liza and her family come visit-they were freindly and welcoming. We followed her recommendations and she set us up with fabulous restaurants and even a day with cooking lessons, etc.
We will treasure the beautiful print of her flower painting, as it will remind us of a great time in Penang and the friendships we made.

  • Great view! Liza was good with communication and seeing to our every needs (including holding our luggage). The apartment suited our group of 4 very well. Nice pool; close to the markets, beach etc

  • We stayed at Liza's apartment for a week and we had a wonderful experience. We were welcomed with beautiful ocean view. Check in was easy. Liza gave details information where we got the key to the apartment. We like how simple the apartment but yet we got what we needed. We knew that we wanted to cook some simple dishes such as breakfast, so we got some groceries from Tesco. We bought some sugar, cooking oil, toilet rolls, etc. There was no salt or pepper if you plan to cook during your stay. We purchased water bottles from the cafe and mini market at the ground floor.
Liza rearranged the layout of the living room and it was great; lots of breeze coming through the room.
We enjoyed the selection of DVDs especially lots of kid's movies for my daughter.
Liza was very helpful and always in touch with us.
The apartment is specious enough for my 2 yrs daughter to run around.
Location is good; every taxi drivers know the location.
We enjoyed the swimming pools; although the changing room is in poorly condition.
The beach is within walking distance and my daughter had great times at the adventure park at the golden sands hotel.
