The Space

Nestled in the hills of Napa Valley, this beautiful winery offers scenic views of the surrounding natural landscapes, including Lake Berryessa to the north. On its fenced 40+ acres visitors can freely explore the thousands of olive trees, grapevines, organic gardens and Molly, the sheep.

The hosts, Naciye and Sid Torun have just finished building a five mile hiking trail to the peak of their property and are installing remote campsites for the more adventurous traveler. You haven't lived until you have experienced a Napa sunset from 1500' overlooking Lake Berryessa.

No matter what kind of vacation you are looking for, Naciye and Sid will cater to your needs. They can be very involved or give you all the privacy that 50 acres can offer.

  • I am sorry I have to leave a very negative review for our stay. Hopefully we were just unlucky to hit some bad mood of Mr. Torun. I booked two nights of July 4th weekend for total of $832 just for the rooms ($375/night, not including dinner), but ended up we stayed there only for one night. The whole family voted to leave right after the first breakfast. I admire Mr. Torun’s hard work on the vineyard, but if you are not looking for inspiration of hard working, but just a regular vacation, this may not be a good choice. Dinner: we booked the $85 per person meal. Mr. Torun told me it would be a 12 course private served dinner. In the end, we had a dinner with very limited food and no service. The dinner included one small fruit plate, one slide of Mediterranean style bread/naan, one side cucumber/tomato salad, and one main dish with 4 small portion of vegetables and half ground beef stuffed sweet pepper. After setting up all the foods on the table, Mr. Torun asked us to start dinner and saying goodbye to us for the night. Those foods could barely feed me, a small size female. My husband and dad quickly found out the foods were not enough. I had to go to their kitchen asking for more foods, but Mr. Torun looked unhappy and said that he had some food left, but it was for himself and his wife. Eventually he still added some vegetables for my husband and dad, but we felt we were begging for foods. And after that, he left us alone, no dessert, no clean up. Talking about the foods, cooking is good, we like the taste, but the fruits and bread are far from fresh. My son asked me, “mummy, why the grapes are so soft?” Beddings: this is the top reason we decided to give up the second night stay. First, a spider was crawling around after we lifted comforter on one of the beds. Maybe it is common in the farm land, but we don’t feel very comfortable about it. Two, in most rentals, there are sheets to wrap around the comforters, so you don’t have to have direct contact with the comforters (not washed every time). We did not found sheets here. We are not neat freaks. We rented vacation homes all the time. This was the first time we felt bad away from home. Air Conditioner: the temperature was round 100F outdoor and 88F indoor when we arrived at the house. I asked to turn on the air conditioner. Mr. Torun asked us to close all the windows and doors, which was fine and we all do it at home too. After sunset we felt that outside had cooled down, we turned off the air conditioner and opened all the windows. Ten minutes later, Mr. Torun knocked the door and asked why we opened the window. We told him we already turned off...

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Torun's, Sid and his wife are wonderful hardworking people who are eager to show you their home and their winery. The place was just as described, just note you can't use the stove, but the microwave and fridge work great. The property is also pretty far away from most of the wineries and restaurants, the nearest town for groceries and food is about 30min away, so just be aware of this when you book, which is why for us it was easier to buy the food package from Sid, for $95/person you get breakfast, dinner and wine tasting, which the food was really good. Overall we would definitely stay with the Torun's again!!!

  • This is one of the most incredible places and stories. Sid and his wife are fantastic. They cook a great meal and have built a one of a kind, beautiful location. I highly recommend a stay with Sid.

  • Every moment of our experience was very positive and extra special. Our hosts Sid and Nacyse were warm and welcoming. The estate is breathtaking with the most wonderful views and the house and grounds are a work of art. We hiked throughout the vineyard with something new to see everyday. The house offered us our home away from home comforts. The real event was reserving our going away lunch with the Torun's. The meal was so delicious and an extra special treat, as we asked our hosts to join us, to learn more about the vineyard. I look forward to planning another visit to this magical place.

  • Start by saying WOW! My wife and I were getting married and had to change the venue last minute. We reached out to Sid and within hours we were sitting at his winery enjoying tea. Sid and his wife were able to accomadate our reception within 1 week of the date and were great hosts. They made us feel very much at home and went out of their way to help with the reception.
The house is beautiful the and the views are amazing. Even more amazing is that they built all of this themselves. We will definitely be back to enjoy some home cooked food and wine from Sid and his wife.

  • Great weekend away in Napa. Comfortable private home with the lake just a short drive away!

  • Holy cow. The reviews don't do this listing justice. Five stars doesn't do this listing justice. And most importantly, five stars don't do the hosts justice. This is hands down, the BEST place I've ever stayed. Sure, the suites in Vegas are nice and all, but there are a couple things that put this place a cut above the rest (in no particular order of awesomeness):

    1) The host and hostess are just incredible people. Not only are they nice, but they're real. I could go on and on about it, but my friends and I were thoroughly enamored. They cooked the most amazing food and made some turkish coffee that my friends are still talking about. And they were so accommodating about all our requests.

    2) The land is GORGEOUS. If you visit, then please take a hike or a walk somewhere around the 40+ acres of land they have. You absolutely will not regret it. But even if you don't do that, you can't help but appreciate the view you have from the balcony. I was hypnotized.

    3) Take advantage of the fact that you're at a winery; they have excellent wine that you're not going to easily find anywhere else. And it was delicious. Did I forget to mention the olive oil?

    4) When we were leaving we realized we had forgotten to pay them for some of the things and all we had to do was leave a credit card and they said they would send us an itemized bill later and would bill us once everything was resolved. They were very prompt about getting in touch and were also very polite.

These guys are awesome. This will become one of my regular getaway spots when I want to get out of San Francisco. I'm telling you, it's more than worth it.

  • The experience was wonderful. This (email hidden) in a stunning
setting. It is a bit out of the way so do your grocery shopping beforehand if
you are not including meals in the visit.

  • The winery is beautiful, high on a hill with wonderful valley views. The hosts were extremely friendly and built the place themselves (which is very impressive, and you can tell that a lot of love was put into it). They make their own wine (which I didn't try) and olive oil (which was amazing). It is somewhat remote from the "main areas", but personally I like that. And the price was amazing. I'd definitely go back!

Some things to be aware of:
    - it's listed as an entire home with privacy, which is mostly true; the hosts live immediately below the space in a two-story house
    - although the pictures show a kitchen, you cannot use it even for making coffee (they apparently don't have the liability insurance)
    - a jetted tub is advertised in the master bathroom, but the jets don't work (the tub is huge, though)
    - it's quite hard to find, it's unmarked from the road -- and cell service is very limited
    - there is WiFi but it's slow

M. S. Torun Family Vineyard and Olive Oil
I am originally from Kurdistan and followed my grandfather's path to California. My grandfather and his three brothers lived in the United States between 1894 and 1971. Growing up as a child, I always heard stories about how beautiful it is in California. After first visiting the Napa Valley I was struck by its beauty and resemblance to my village in Kurdistan. I immediately knew that this will be the perfect home away from home.
