Nestled in the hills of Napa Valley, this beautiful winery offers scenic views of the surrounding natural landscapes, including Lake Berryessa to the north. On its fenced 40+ acres visitors can freely explore the thousands of olive trees, grapevines, organic gardens and Molly, the sheep.
The hosts, Naciye and Sid Torun have just finished building a five mile hiking trail to the peak of their property and are installing remote campsites for the more adventurous traveler. The less adventurous are always invited to take a trip to the peak on their ATV. You haven't lived until you have experienced a Napa sunset from 1500' overlooking Lake Berryessa.
No matter what kind of vacation you are looking for, Naciye and Sid will cater to your needs. They can be very involved or give you all the privacy that 50 acres can offer.
We couldn't imagine a much better way to usher in the New Year than our stay at Sid and Naciye's beautiful Napa property. If you stay here, do yourself a favor and have Naciye cook you a delicious meal, we really enjoyed it. The grounds are gorgeous and we enjoyed walking the hiking trail up to the top of the hill. Our hosts were incredibly friendly and hospitable and responded quickly to our requests. We would definitely recommend this listing to our friends and will stay here again. The one note I'd mention is that the property is a bit of a drive from town. That is not a complaint, it was actually exactly what we wanted. Thanks, Sid and Naciye!
This was not a great experience for us. The property does NOT sleep 8. We were cramped and uncomfortable. Couches are too small and don't make into beds. After arriving with groceries for the weekend, we were told we couldn't use the stove and oven and that Sid would have to make the coffee/tea for us in the morning. Very small vineyard, very steep terrain, not easily walkable and construction equipment arrived with big trucks first thing every morning. We listened to building and heavy equipment every morning. Not a pleasant experience for any of us. Finding other people's razors, shampoos, etc in the bathrooms was gross. House was clean and neat but we would have preferred to be told up front 8 could not sleep here and we couldn't cook. Needless to say we would have chosen another property. On the positive, the property sits on a beautiful hill and when you aren't looking at equipment and steep driveways, it would have been a pleasant experience.
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon, and loved the unique experience of staying with Sid & Naciye on their gorgeous property. While we were there, a group of neighbors and friends came during the day to harvest this year's olive crop--it was fun for us to see how the olives are picked!
We ended up paying the extra $65 per person for the wine tasting, dinner, and breakfast package they offered, and didn't regret it. The dinners were fantastic--most of the food came straight from their gardens. We had a bottle of wine with dinner each night that came right from their property (not included in the package price), and it was delicious! We wished we had saved more room in our suitcases for a couple extra bottles of wine to take home with us.
Our favorite part, I think, was sitting on the balcony at night with our heads tilted back, staring right up at the Milky Way... we even saw a shooting star!
Only one word of caution to future guests: if you are scared of heights, their driveway is extremely steep and windy. It didn't bother me at all (it was actually kinda fun!), but I could definitely see it making some people nervous.
Sid and Nancy's winery was a very unique experience. The views were fantastic. The accommodations were clean and peaceful. Overall, it was a very different Napa experience than one can get elsewhere.
The only disappointment in an otherwise perfect stay was the lack of pricing transparency. We were told that the price per bottle was $25 (all of us heard and confirmed this price independently), but after we had loaded up and were settling the bill, the price per bottle inexplicably became $35. Also note for future travelers, the dinner costs $65 and includes a wine tasting, but does not include wine with dinner. Any wine brought up from the tasting room is an additional charge. This was also not evident to us.
My sis and I stayed 2 nights at Sid and Naciye's. It was a priceless experience for me waking up to cool weather and the sun rising above the mountains right in front of my window. Sid and Naciye's hospitality was a warm welcome, and it was lovely to listen to their stories. The property has a large area for you to explore in, and it was most beautiful when we made it to the peak to look at the lake. I had intended to stay there and visit a few wineries in Napa but in the end, both my sis and I didn't even once leave the property and just chose to enjoy having our own provate vineyard/Olive grove to roam around. The chickens, dogs and goats added to the overall experience. I would advise you to opt to pay that extra and have Naciye cook for you because her cooking is simply amazing! I totally enjoyed it and it inspired me with recipes to try for my own in future. Overall, it was great! Enjoy it.
If you are looking for a beautiful, relaxing stay away from it all, Sid and Naciye's gorgeous winery is the place for you! We stayed for a few days in late September for our wedding in Napa. The spacious house and hikes are as pictured or nicer and the dinner, wine tasting and breakfast were all delicious. The total for our meals and wine tasting were $205 for 2 people. The house is immaculate and about 30 minutes away from downtown Napa, if you end up craving city life. No light pollution & beautiful night time skies - more stars than you've ever seen in your life. Don't forget to visit sweet Harat (elderly guard dog) and take a peek at the goats that provide the cheese for your breakfast! Overall, a really wonderful way to start our new life together.
One of the kind experience. We are absolutely loved our trip to Napa and stay at Sid and Naciye. Cute and Cozy is a perfect description! It is definitely situated on an extremely steep but lovely Napa valley. Dinner for both of the nights was absolutely delicious. The private land this winery is situated on are remarkable, offering expensive views and hiking opportunity. We will come back again. The small batch of wine by Mr. Torun was impressive as well.
Sid and Nancy's place is an absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind vacation. We had a great 3 night stay, eating in for two of those nights.
The property is a wooded hill with lots of vertical. Walking and running the trails is really fun. If you are looking for relaxation, far from the maddening crowds, this is the place.
But plan on a good 30-45 minute drive on windy roads to get into Napa. This is not the place to go if you plan on lots of activities in town. The attraction is relaxing and hang out on the property.
Sid and Nancy are wonderful, gracious hosts. Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful time!
This place is scenic and amazing. The amount of work that has gone into the grounds and the house are impressive. Know that it's at least 30 minutes from the closest town, and the best experience would be to spend a lot of time on site, hiking on the walking trails and enjoying Sid and Naciye's cooking, wine and olive oil. We did a little too much running around and wished we could have spent more time relaxing at the house.
Stephan was very responsive and helpful making the reservation, and Sid and Naciye are amazing hosts. They offer a wine tasting, dinner and breakfast package we're excited to try the next time we visit.
If you're looking for a quiet and secluded retreat, this is a great experience.
We really enjoyed our stay with Sid and Nancy. The property is breathtaking and very private. Both nights we took long walks on the trail they have created and admired all of their work on the property. The house/apartment was private and well-maintained; and even included alcohol for purchase. Heads up - there is only a bath tub. You will be super impressed by their story and everything they are doing to build up the property into an amazing vineyard/winery.
If you do decide to book a visit, I would recommend that you reach out to Sid well in advance of your trip. They offer an additional dinner package and wine tasting, but our schedule was already booked. Also, the property is locked and so it is helpful to have all of those details worked out ahead of time. They don't have a typical "host" welcome letter that they send out, so you will have to be the proactive one. We ended trying to connect with Sid on a bad cell phone connection in the airport and it didn't work that well.
Finally, if you are planning to spend time in Napa / Sonoma know that it is a 40 minute drive from the property. It wasn't a big deal to us, but is good to know ahead of time.
