We had a wonderful stay at Helene's home. She is a wonderful, warm host, and her home is a magical place.
Hélène is a kind and relaxed host. My friend had a bad throat and she supplied home remedies and advice. The artist-built house is quirky and cosy, and the bedrooms downstairs are spacious and comfortable. Each opens out onto a little courtyard garden, which brought "indoors" the Provençal blue sky, sunlight and fresh air. Lots of nooks and crannies for relaxing with a book or just to shoot the breeze. Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is a tiny and peaceful village with nice shops. We enjoyed wonderful eats including at Restaurant le carre d'herbes and great coffee, croissants and salads at Cafe Couleurs. A lovely holiday - I hope to return one day.
We had a wonderful time in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue chez Hélène. Her apartment is truly rustic and very charming. Hélène was very accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Doable sure to communicate check-out arrangements with Hélène ahead of time as you will need to return the key to her directly. My husband and I would highly recommend her lovely apartment.
This place is ideal for those who want to feel how is to live in a small city of Provence. It's a 17th century house with two rooms and a washroom on the ground level. From the two rooms you have the view of a nice garden.
And the house is right in the historic centre, which means little streets, canals everywhere (the city is surrounded by a river), lovely houses --and the amazing open market, that happens once a week.
There're also good restaurants around --ask Helene--, but you might need a reservation first, for the best ones.
The stairs to access the first floor --where the kitchen is-- are a little bit hard to climb (for us was pretty ok, but maybe could be a problem if you have babies), but Helens hospitality is incomparable.
She is a lovely person, who not only helped us during our stay, but really made it a lot more pleasant.
If we come back to Provence we would definitely stay with her again and we heartily recommend it.
Helene was there to welcome us and show us around her charming home. Relatives from Australia were visiting and we wanted to show them something of the true Provence. The place fulfilled all our expectations and accommodated four adults and a child easily. It is authentic, very close to the centre of a unique and beautiful village and has a very welcoming lounge and dining area where we shared wine, bread, cheese - and lots of coffee and tea.
The apartment has two levels with the upper area (kitchen, lounge and bedroom) accessible from both inside and outside the apartment. We loved the rustic internal stairway but elderly or very young children should use the external stairs.
Helene went to a lot of trouble to make us welcome and make sure we were happy and settled in. We will come again! Even though it was only one night, it was the highlight of their stay in France so far.
Thank you Helene! ;-)
