Host was easy to meet up with and showed the small apartment. The bed apparently is a fold out couch and one part is hard the other is soft. The kitchen is small and lacks even basic implements. Think college bachelor pad, but without even a knife to cut baguette or an opener for wine. A small assortment of mismatched dishes and a pan. The stove didn't work so the host made me accompany him to the store to buy a part because apparently there is a wiring issue. Bathroom reeked of gnarly mildew the entire time I was there with no way to clean it. Holes in the walls leaked unpleasant smells and the neighbors loud children were audible the entire week I stayed. The shutters on the windows were apparently broken. One was broken down so no light could come in, and the other was broken halfway up on a diagonal. Neither functioned at all. The couch was ripped in places and fairly worn. The bedding provided was an odd assembly of blankets and throw pillows, and did not appear to have been washed in a while. In fact, the entire place didn't seem as if it had been cleaned in a while.
The shower drain was so full of hair (took pictures) that the shower would begin to overflow after less than 3 minutes of showering, which was about as long as I could bear the smell of mold and mildew hanging heavy in the air all day and night.
The only high point of the stay was after I left, I had apparently forgotten my passport and the host (despite having flown to Tunisia) arranged to get it back to me the following day through a third party.
The building and neighborhood seemed to be populated by mostly elderly people.
The apartment is very nice, clean and private. It's a small room but it has everything inside, like blankets, towels. It's surprising that it even has a small kitchen, however the stove is not working. We managed to use the microwave and oven to do some cooking. Generally its a really nice apartment!
My stay at Mohsen's studio apartment was great. The pictures make it look bigger and more luxurious than it really is, but most airbnb photos are starting to flatter to deceive slightly. But it was more than nice enough for me, pretty clean, spacious for a European-sized studio, and once I figured out how to get the sofa to become a bed, it was perfect.
The roll-down shutters were stuck, but luckily I didn't need to change the amount of light coming in, it was never too much or too little. The window faces W-NW, so there's plenty of light and only direct sunlight in part of the apartment for about an hour in the late afternoon.
The bedroom/living room area was enough for me, as I was mostly using the space to sleep and work at my laptop. So the sofa and table functioned also as a bed and desk. And the TV is decent size for an airbnb studio in Europe, something close to a 30" American flatscreen.
The wifi, while on the slower end of the broadband spectrum, was one of the most reliably connected I've ever experienced outside the US. Even more remarkable is that this is in France. My work and really my whole life requires some stable internet connection, so it was a bonus not to have a typical wifi headache while staying in a new place long term.
The kitchen and bath were admittedly small, but not less than what I expected. The only thing you might need to supply yourself are a good cutting knife and board if you'll do a lot of food prep for yourself, as I did. And for me that meant a daily baguette with lunch meat or fruit spread.
The building is modern by city standards and has 2 elevators that beat anything in an old Parisian apartment building. It's right across the street from a Carrefour city (small supermarket) and other typical food stores (boulangerie, etc), one block away from the Lourmel metro, with Vélib and car share options right in front of the building.
Mohsen, who I did meet briefly when he needed to come by to pick some things from the flat, was very reasonably accommodating. Even though he was not able to meet me upon arrival, he arranged for someone to give me the keys and show me how things worked. And he was generally responsive with communication.
I'd recommend staying at his place without hesitation.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I recently stayed at this studio apartment for 1 month. The hosts was friendly and nice.
I experienced clogged pipes during my visit which prevented the use of the showers for 2 days...
The toilets are an old school design whereby toilet papers cannot be flushed. The apartment is very secure with 2 secured doors before entering your studio. The kitchen tools were not as well equipped for a longer term stay with blunt knives and slightly rusty saucepans.
The hosts tried to compensate for the shortfalls, which was a positive turnaround and outcome to the visit.
Mohsen was a great host. He was very friendly and helpful with directions for going about in Paris. He was easily accessible over phone and email. Mohsen arrived spot on at the time of handing the keys & made us feel welcome upon our arrival.
Mohsen's apartment is a cozy and beautifully done up the place. He has maintained and decorated it very well. He has taken care of all details and furnished it with everything one might need. Apartment is also very clean. The sofa can be turned into a bed, which is comfortable. There was unlimited and fast WiFi which was great. Kitchen was complete with utensils, a mini fridge and a cook-top.
The apartment complex is safe and in a posh residential area. Basic amenities such as grocery store, ATMs, pharmacy, coffee shop, photocopier etc. are just a walk across the street.
It is strategically located next to the Lourmel metro station, on line 8. Main attractions like the Eiffel, Opera and Louvre are within 10-15 minutes train ride, so its very easy to travel around Paris from here.
Overall, we tremendously enjoyed staying in Mohsen's place. We liked it more than any of the hotels. Strongly recommended as a value-for-money, decent accommodation in Paris.
